PANZERBALLETT feat. Virgil Donati

Po roce Prahu opět navštíví nekompromisní německá jazzmetalová formace Panzerballett! Za bicí soupravu usedne jeden z technicky nejpokročilejších světový hráčů Virgil Donati (Planet X, Steve Vai, Allan Holdsworth a další) a post baskytaristy zastane virtuozní Anton Davidyants (Guthrie Govan, Damien Schmitt).

Panzerballett je kombinace „latino-jazzu a grindcore, hard-bopu s death-metalem, nebo disco-funku s hardcore,“ jak praví frontman a skladatel Jan Zehrfeld. Jejich hudbu definuje jazzové vzdělání všech členů, záliba v kapelách jako Meshuggah, Frank Zappa nebo Animals As Leaders a zároveň dokonalé ovládnutí nástrojů a intenzivní využívání velmi pokročilých rytmických postupů. Kapela kombinuje netradiční aranže rockových, popových a jazzových standardů jako jsou Take Five, Smoke on the Water, Time of my life nebo znělka The Simpsons a vlastní autorskou tvorbu. Existuje od roku 2004, na kontě má sedm alb a spolupráci se jmény jako Gergo Borlai, Mattias Eklundh (Freak Kitchen), Jen Majura (Evanescence), Marco Minnemann (Steven Wilson, The Aristocrats) a dalšími.

ENGLISH: The music of Panzerballett has been designed to function as a perfect workout to highly develop, expand, and reinforce the connections between the brain and each muscle used for head banging. Some have reported head shaking as an early side-effect that mostly, after prolonged exposure, develops into smiling and sometimes even rapturous laughter. Jan Zehrfeld, the band's mastermind, studied jazz guitar in Los Angeles, Graz, Helsinki, and Munich. He has performed with DOLDINGER'S PASSPORT, the HILLIARD ENSEMBLE and Peter Herbolzheimer‘s GERMAN NATIONAL YOUTH JAZZ ORCHESTRA. His compositions are a unique fusion of jazz, funk, and metal. Intricate funk grooves are combined with heavy polyrhythmic riffs as well as jazz improvisation. Known for their energy, chops and humor, PANZERBALLETT shared stages with the CHICK COREA & JOHN MCLAUGHLIN FIVE PEACE BAND, KENNY GARRETT, BILL FRISELL, MACALPINE/SHEEHAN/DONATI and MATTIAS "IA" EKLUNDH. German newspaper Die Welt has described them as "faster than Metallica, more powerful than Motörhead, and funnier than Rammstein." In fall 2022 Panzerballett has teamed up with drum legend VIRGIL DONATI to perform mutually spiced up versions of each other's compositions.
