MRKVA/BOLKA - split [2012, #LOM01]
Two Slovakian composers created this split as a first release for the Lom label (the 0th release was a compilation of various artists). Mrkva (Jonáš Gruska) is the mastermind behind the Lom label with a very wide array of activities (including, for instance, modular gardening and DIY electronics). Bolka (Matúš Kobolka) is known as the hot guy who is into glitchy microtonal compositions and whose cap has a very wide fanbase.
"I have no doubt – this is the most interesting glitch-scape album i’ve heard in latest years. It’s fresh, witty and it fails to be boring like most glitch experiments. The slovakian duo surprised me with their ode to digital jittered clocks tenderly blended with field recordings. Intricate micro-automatons finetuned and orchestrated with heart – an sincere soundtrack for these digital days.”

Jonáš Gruska - Nočné oscilácie pre jedného [2012, #LOM02]
Nočné oscilácie pre jedného, “Nocturnal oscillations for one”, is a set of four compositions by Jonáš Gruska, recorded in the analog study of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Works have emerged from many evening studio meditations and are reflecting mainly intimate topics, such as loneliness and contrast of human being amongst machine.
"This time synthesist Jonáš Gruska enters the world of electronic music in its earliest, rawest and the most abstract form, full of cold, angular proto-beats and laboratory oscillations. Sounds like lost gem recorded in Cologne in the early 50’s that just got unearthed from some vast archive. Analog electronics is great electronics."
