An interesting story in the papers today involving Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, who is on loan at Roma from Newcastle United.
The defender has featured in 19 games in the first half of the Serie A season and, if he plays a 20th, the Italian club would be contractually obliged to make the deal permanent for £5.5million, according to Sky Italia.
However, Mapou was dropped in the first match after the winter break against Udinese and then left on the bench for the derby with Lazio last weekend.
The Daily Mirror report Roma have made the move to avoid triggering the clause and are hoping they can negotiate a better deal for the defender in the summer or preferably this month.
