    Abstract
This monograph reviews the evidence documenting that Martian atmospheric oxygen is continually replenished and spikes by 30% during the spring and summer, for which there is no abiogenic explanation; mushroom-shaped lichens, with caps, stalks, thallus and hyphae have been identified on Mars, that lichens survive in Martian simulated environments, and would have adapted and evolved on Mars. We test three hypotheses and performed quantitative statistical analysis of millimeter-scale, stalked bulbous structures embedded within a highly weathered substrate in Eagle Crater, Mars which yields a 97% probability of the Martian lichens are identical to terrestrial lichens and have no resemblance to hematite. The analysis identified a repeating, organized tripartite blueprint consisting of an anchoring substrate base, upright vertical stalks and suspended spherical caps. Subsurface linear conduits terminate precisely at the anchoring vertices of these stalks. Spatial metrics demonstrate a non-random, uniform nearest-neighbor distribution maintaining a strict 2.0-4.0 mm population buffer zone, paired with directional, solar-vector orientation. A technical audit of rover data reveals that NASA's claims these spherules are hematite relies on edited, altered bulk spectral data that the original team admitted remained a "poor fit," "not consistent" with hematite, and "indistinguishable from dust." NASA's wind claims were also debunked, as any winds would not be sufficiently powerful to blow sand and excavate or erode geological formation shaped like thousands of mushrooms. To further document and resolve the evidence favoring a biological framework (HB) vs the abiotic erosion null hypothesis (HA), these structural arrays were analyzed via an Python-Bayesian inference pipeline which yield a final biological posterior probability of 97.70, establishing that a biological, colonial framework provides a mathematically superior almost conclusive explanation whereas geological claims are statistically implausible; and this biology explains why the Martian atmosphere is continually replenished with oxygen., i.e. via photosynthesis. This investigation also determined that these stalked specimens possess an underlying network of functional fungal hyphae that link individual specimens into a coordinated colony to mine locked subterranean moisture. The systematic convergence of these interconnected conduits with tripartite morphometry and uniform spatial spacing profiles strongly undermines the geological model and fully support this biological model as does extreme environmental simulation trials demonstrating that lichens can maintain active metabolic pathways and rapid post-hydration recovery under Martian simulated conditions Martian organisms utilize specialized accessory pigments for thermal regulation, trapping solar heat and flattening standard reflectance profiles to survive the planet's unique radiation and cold stresses. Ultimately, multi-variable mathematical modeling validates the biological network configuration. It confirms that these subsurface features exhibit organizational traits nearly identical to terrestrial crustose lichens like Dibaeis baeomyces. Conclusion: There is a 97% probability these specimens are biological and the results represent verified, statistically conclusive evidence of life on Mars.

Researchers found that yeast cells can survive intense shock waves and toxic chemicals similar to those on Mars. The cells protect themselves by forming special stress-response structures that help them endure extreme conditions.

Researchers from the Department of Biochemistry (BC) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), working with collaborators at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) in Ahmedabad, have discovered that yeast can survive environmental stresses similar to those on Mars. Their findings suggest that even simple life forms may be more resilient to extraterrestrial conditions than previously assumed.

Simulating Mars With Shock Waves and Toxic Soil

To test yeast survival, the research team subjected living cells to intense physical and chemical stress. The experiments included exposure to powerful shock waves comparable to those created by meteorite impacts on Mars, as well as perchlorate salts, which are toxic compounds known to exist in Martian soil.

The shock waves were generated using a High-Intensity Shock Tube for Astrochemistry (HISTA) located in Bhalamurugan Sivaraman's laboratory at PRL. These waves reached speeds of up to Mach 5.6. In addition, yeast cells were treated with 100 mM sodium perchlorate, either on its own or combined with shock wave exposure
