A Rocking Chair That Knits You A Winter Hat
Switzerland-based design students Damien Ludi and Colin Peillex of ECAL university have reinterpreted the rocking chair, and given it a multitasking-productive spin, while still keeping it as relaxing to the user. The ‘Rocking-Knit’ uses the to-and-fro rocking movements of the user to knit beanies for winter—combining the idea of a granny leisurely sitting in her rocking chair, while knitting winter-wear for her grandchildren. The kinetic energy generated while the chair rocks back-and-forth activates the gears and works the machine. An alternative to low-tech devices being useful and revolutionary, the Rocking-Knit makes the transition to winter more effortless.
