I am drawn to objects such as nests, shells and skins. They represent not only the existence of invisible life, but also the coexistence of life and death. They also imply the flow of time.
Each teapot is thrown on the potter's wheel allowing me to consciously create an inner space imagining what can be poured from that space. Then I add hand built elements and textures to the surface creating a complete object internally and externally.
I use porcelain for its whiteness and its strength, but porcelain is also fragile and allows me to work in great detail. The pale celadon glaze alludes to the color of ocean. The ocean represents eternity and contains life and death. It is constant and always changing.
When I make teapots, I want people to enjoy pouring the ocean and I hope they find a peaceful time in daily life.
