Pozdrav od přátel z Kaunasu (Lt), jednoho z míst Dne pro Kliniku
This Saturday, Feb 20, 18:00 at Kaunas Infoshop (Infokrautuvė), issue 4
of Kauno Sp(i)auda – zine of non-state politics and counterculture –
will be presented in a launch party!
Sp(i)auda vol. 4 takes up the topic of urban space. People form their
space, and their space forms them, thus forming our relations with one
another, i.e., our politics and societies. Therefore, no proper social
change can be imagined without changes in space, which would become less
and less adapted to capital needs and more and more to human desires.
In Sp(i)auda vol. 4 expect to find: interviews with squatters and space
activists from Warsaw, Cluj, Tartu, Prague and Kaunas, analyses of
Šilainiai and Vilkyškiai, tips and tricks. As always, the zine’s
editorial room’s opinions do not differ from its authors (or at least
they don’t oppose them too much), the zine is non-copyrighted (therefore
print and share, especially if you use state or business resources), the
zine aims at becoming not only a good read, but also an organ of organising.
Sp(i)auda launch party will start with a presentation-discussion on
autonomous spaces and urban interventions (e.g. Capture the Flag in a
city centre, guerilla gardening, temporary and contemporary squatting,
anti-eviction resistance, fake parks and roadsigns…). After the
discussion, there will be some music, some drinks, some more
discussions… For those to whom Kaunas infoshop is still an unkwown
space, it’s a good chance to make it one’s own, meet its creators,
become one of them and fold one’s own 28 pages of Sp(i)auda (DIY!).
It’s not accidental that Sp(i)auda comes out and the party happens on
Feb 20, for it’s also the 1st birthday of “Klinika” autonomous social
centre (ex-squat) in Prague. This event is part of the international
“Day for Klinika” celebration. The social centre, established in a
former lung clinic, managed to unite punks, locals, and intellectuals,
it keeps on fighting for free space and against gentrification, collects
and distributes stuff for refugees, fights for society without racism
and sexism. No good deed is left unpunished: “Klinika” has recently been
attacked by “nationalist youth”, some windows were smashed, one person
was injured (more info here). Kauno Sp(i)auda solidarises with this
brave social centre, congratulates it on its first birthday, and urges
never to give in to fascist scum.
Every city needs its Klinika, every inhabitant need their Sp(i)auda!
