Nikol Strobach 7:00PM
In this workshop, led by Nikol Strobach, we will focus on the basics of both traditional and experimental approaches to creating sound on a modular synthesizer. We will talk about the essential terms and building blocks used in modulars and how you can connect your houseplants to synths. At the end you will be able to create your own sounds or listen to a piece of music created by a banana
Nikol is based in Brno, where she works for Bastl Instruments and the Synth Library. Her focus is teaching Modular Synthesis online (Patcheni s Nikol) and in a series of workshops around the world. Nikol also co-founded Pink Noise, a community of women whose aim is to create safe spaces for female and non-binary people to explore and pursue a more equitable environment within the music industry. In her ambient music, she explores playing on/with plants and samples sourced from animals and nature.
Exhausted Modern 8:30PM
Exhausted Modern will lead workshop (as panel with Nitrous) with main focus on live performance. Make sure to attend this one if you want to learn about playing electronic live show without the use of computer sequencing. This panel will focus on his unique approach to playing live, FXs and sequencing tracks on the fly. Exhausted Modern will also play on Friday at Komiks but this will be great opportunity to see his work right in front of you in such intimate venue.
Exhausted Modern is a project established by Czech musician Ladislav Zensor whose approach to sound creates metaphorical expression of fatigue which comes from living in a world where technology takes over. Work of Exhausted Modern is regularly released on well-established labels as Brokntoys, Veyl or Rotterdam Electronix. He also releases his music thru label Endless Illusion which he co-founded together with Raphael Kosmos back in 2011.
