The nexus between societal engineering and popular television has always existed but the brainwashing is no more evident than today. Films like Spy Kids 2, Men in Black 2, XXX and SWAT - almost every other movie at the cinema, has a consistent and sinister message. The heroes work for the government and anyone who disagrees with the government is mentally unstable or worse, a terrorist.

This sea change is not by accident. Just as Nokia or Budweiser would pay film companies to have their products featured, (such as in the recent Terminator 3) so too the government pay to have a particular brand of 'acceptable' thinking ingrained into the masses via their favourite movie and TV characters. Just after September 11th, Hollywood agreed to a Pentagon demand that government must be involved in all movies that even lightly touch upon national security issues - despite the fact that the plots are obviously fictional.

Stunningly Accurate Forecasts

The Lone Gunmen is a Fox spin-off of the X-files and in July 2001 aired an episode where a plane is electronically hijacked by a secret government cabal who try to crash it into the World Trade Center to get martial law, start wars and increase weapons sales.

Perhaps then we should be anxious about the plot of another Fox propaganda crusade, 24, where an element within the government tied to the multinational oil industry is the hidden hand behind a nuclear explosion over Los Angeles. A war is then initiated based on forged evidence tying three middle eastern countries to the attack (Niger uranium anyone?).

AMERICAN jets killed Iraqi troops with a controversial napalm-type weapon during the war in Iraq, the Pentagon has admitted.

Mark 77 firebombs were dropped on Iraq on at least two occasions during the recent conflict.

A senior Pentagon colonel confirmed the bombs have "similar destructive characteristics" to napalm - the use of which sparked world outrage in the Vietnam war. The photograph of nine-year-old Kim Phuc, screaming in pain from napalm burns, turned public opinion in America against the war. In 1980 napalm was banned by the United Nations, but the US did not sign the agreement.

Three months ago, after Gulf War II, the Pentagon denied using napalm against Iraqi troops. However, it has now admitted using "Mark 77 firebombs", which are produced using a similar fuel-gel mixture.

Colonel Mike Daily of the US Marines confirmed Mark 77 bombs were dropped around the Kuwait-Iraq border at the start of the war.

He said they had "similar destructive characteristics" to the Vietnam-era napalm.

Storage devices from the WORLD TRADE CENTER, destroyed on 11 SEPTEMBER 2001, have arrived in germany for data recovery

Pirmasens, 12 November 2001 - At the weekend, the first storage devices from the offices of a US company, located in a building neighbouring the World Trade Center in New York, destroyed on 11 September 2001, arrived in Germany for data recovery.

The storage devices are 18 hard disks from the computing centre of an electronic payment systems company. The hard disks were removed from the computer installations, which had been completely destroyed, and sent to CONVAR's experts in Germany for data recovery.

An employee of the US customer came directly from New York via Frankfurt to Pirmasens on Sunday to deliver the hard disks to the high-security area of the German data recovery experts.

Wolfowitz: Iraq Not Involved in 9-11, No Ties to al-Qaeda

Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz, one of the main architects for the war in Iraq, admitted for the first time that Iraq had nothing to do with the September 11 terrorist attacks, contradicting public statements made by senior White House and Pentagon officials whose attempt to link Saddam Hussein and the terrorist organization al-Qaeda was cited by the Bush administration as one of the main reasons for launching a preemptive strike in March against Iraq.

In an interview with conservative radio personality Laura Ingraham, Wolfowitz was asked when he first came to believe that Iraq was behind the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

"I'm not sure even now that I would say Iraq had something to do with it," Wolfowitz said in the interview, aired Friday.

Wolfowitz's answer confirms doubts long held by critics of the Iraq war that the Bush administration had no evidence linking Iraq to 9-11 or al-Qaeda, but simply used the horrific terrorist attacks as a reason to overthrow Saddam Hussein and his Baathist regime.

"I think what the realization to me is – the fundamental point was that terrorism had reached the scale completely different from what we had thought of it up until then. And that it would only get worse when these people got access to weapons of mass destruction which would be only a matter of time," Wolfowitz said in the interview. "…What you really got to do is, eliminate terrorist networks and eliminate terrorism as a problem. And clearly Iraq was one of the country – you know top of the list of countries actively using terrorism as an instrument of national policy."

Since the United States invaded Iraq 111 days ago, no chemical or biological weapons have been found in the country.

A spokesman for Wolfowitz would not return repeated calls for comment.

'Secret' nuclear meeting revealed

Arms control groups say the development of mini nuclear weapons will be discussed tomorrow at a top level meeting in the United States.

The conference is taking place at the Strategic Air Command Headquarters at an air base near the city of Omaha in Nebraska.

The BBC reports the meeting was supposed to take place in secret.

The US Defence Department has now acknowledged that the meeting in Nebraska involves 150 people, including officials, technicians and scientists.

Arms control groups are convinced they will discuss the new generation of nuclear weapons.

It is already clear, through testimonies to Congress and elsewhere, what direction many experts want the defence establishment to take.

They want to move towards the development of small, low-yield weapons, or 'mini nukes'.

They would be designed to burrow themselves deep underground before exploding.

That is in tune with President Bush's doctrine that the US should be capable of carrying out controlled pre-emptive strikes on hidden weapons of mass destruction.

LONDON — Iraq reports an oil production capacity of 1.7 million barrels per day.

Thamer Ghadhban, responsible for Iraq's oil sector, said the figure is the highest since the U.S.-led war in Iraq in March. He said Iraq is preparing to export as much as 800,000 barrels per day from oil fields in Basra.

"Iraq's production capacity has risen to unprecedented levels since the war ended, reaching 1.7 million barrel per day," Ghadhban told the International Oil Daily. "Production is actually running at a rate of 1.55 million barrel per day."

Ghadhban said sabotage has hampered Iraqi plans to increase oil production and exports. He cited attacks on the Kirkuk-Ceyhan oil pipeline from northern Iraq to Turkey, which was blown up on late July 31.

US planned withdrawal of Indonesia staff hours before blast

Hours before the powerful blast in Bali island went off, the US had reportedly announced a plan to withdraw its administrative staff from Indonesia for 'security' reasons.

The Washington Post daily newspaper reported that the US government threatened to withdraw all its staff from Indonesia if Indonesian security officials were not serious about revealing the 'terrorist network' considered to be a threat to US citizens’ safety.

Washington has for the past few weeks been urging Jakarta to take action against Muslim groups it claimed were linked to 'terrorist network'. However, president Megawati's government had come under intense pressure from her own cabinet as well as Muslim leaders, who urged her not to bow down to the US 'bully tactic'. Their main contention was that Washington had so far failed to provide an iota of evidence linking Muslim groups in the country to so-called 'terrorist' groups.

Yesterday's blast, however, may prove to be just the evidence Washington needed to force Jakarta to come down hard on Muslim civilian groups. In the past, analysts did not rule out the occurence of deliberate violence across the archipelago to provide a pretext for US intervention.

US anti-war activists hit by secret airport ban

After more than a year of complaints by some US anti-war activists that they were being unfairly targeted by airport security, Washington has admitted the existence of a list, possibly hundreds or even thousands of names long, of people it deems worthy of special scrutiny at airports.

The list had been kept secret until its disclosure last week by the new US agency in charge of aviation safety, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). And it is entirely separate from the relatively well-publicised "no-fly" list, which covers about 1,000 people believed to have criminal or terrorist ties that could endanger the safety of their fellow passengers.

The strong suspicion of such groups as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which is suing the government to try to learn more, is that the second list has been used to target political activists who challenge the government in entirely legal ways. The TSA acknowledged the existence of the list in response to a Freedom of Information Act request concerning two anti-war activists from San Francisco who were stopped and briefly detained at the airport last autumn and told they were on an FBI no-fly list.

Iran 'close to building nuke bomb'

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Iran appears to be in the late stages of building a nuclear bomb and has sought help from scientists in Russia, China, North Korea and Pakistan, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Citing its own three-month investigation into Iran's clandestine nuclear capacity, the Times said on Monday it had strong evidence Iran's commercial programme masked a plan to become the world's next nuclear power and it was "much closer to producing a bomb than Iraq ever was".

Iran has consistently denied it has plans to build nuclear weapons and has said its programme is for peaceful civilian use.
