Canadians applying for passports must now submit photos showing "neutral expressions". They cannot be smiling, frowning, glaring or grimacing, the Canadian passport office said.

The changes follow recommendations from the International Civil Aviation Organisation, the UN agency responsible for aviation issues, aimed at making it easier for security personnel to recognise passport holders around the world, a spokeswoman told the Globe and Mail newspaper.

The measure took effect on August 15, but the office will accept photos that do not meet the criteria until November 3. After that, all passports issued will be smile and frown-free...

For retailers, the back-to-school shopping season (search) of the late summer and early fall is the biggest boom of the year, second only to Christmas.


As families hit the mall this year during a time not just of war and terror but of rising unemployment and economic uncertainty, they may recall President Bush's plea of two years ago urging Americans to do their patriotic duty by shopping.

What many Americans don't realize is that their enthusiastic consumerism does a lot more for the interests of national security (search) than keeping the economy strong. Long after credit card bills are paid and checking accounts replenished, the information retailers collect about customers in those increasingly intrusive mini-interrogations at the cash register--zip codes, phone numbers, purchases, even point of purchase requests for email addresses and Social Security numbers--remains bouncing around networks of computer databases, permanently traceable and trackable by the government.

I didn't know this when I found myself waiting 25 minutes while a salesclerk rang up the sales of the three people ahead of me. I was just an angry customer wanting to know what was taking so long. When it was finally my turn, and I was asked for everything but my fingerprints and a blood sample to make a $15 purchase, I asked the sales woman why she needed that information. She couldn't answer me. I decided to find out why my favorite stores need to verify who I am and where I live before they'll take my money.

Turns out, I was on to something. Though most of the information stores collect on customers does not seem very sensitive on the surface, privacy watchdogs (search) worry that the relatively benign commercial motivations retailers have for collecting this information could have very dangerous implications in today's political climate where privacy rights seem to be taking a back seat to the cause of tracking terrorists and national security.

"My fear is that as more and more businesses collect this information for business purposes, with what's going on politically, the government will gain access to it," said Charlotte Twight, author of "Dependent on D.C.: The Rise of Federal Control over the Lives of Ordinary Americans" (search) (Palgrave/St. Martin's Press, 2002) and a professor of economics at Boise State University. Twight said that once a record is made, there is no protection from the government gaining access to it. "The information that retailers use to create consumer profiles, the government will use to profile innocent citizens," Twight said.

Privacy advocates like Twight won a major battle last month when John Poindexter (search) resigned from the Pentagon amidst evaporating Congressional support for the Total Information Awareness (search) system, the federal anti-terrorism initiative he was tapped to head. TIA would have established a sort of uber database that would crunch data from just about every database currently in existence and basically provide the government with all the information available on everyone, anywhere.

But despite the recent failure of TIA, the USA PATRIOT Act (search) passed in October 2001 gave the government expanded powers to obtain records of business transactions. Twight said that many people don't realize that sensitive information about their medical and employment records, travel history, financial dealings and educational background--in addition to their purchases-- is buried in accessible computer files.

NATO (merging with the UN peacekeeping operation) is planned to be the world army, the world police force, to keep countries in line who do not wish to concede their sovereignty to the Illuminati world government, which is planned to evolve through the United Nations.

The structure of global control is pyramids inside pyramids. Very much like Russian dolls, one doll inside another. If you look at any organisation today you will see that it is structured as a pyramid. Those lower down the pyramid have no idea what the organisation they work for is really about. They just do their own job and go home every day. They don't know how what they do connects with other people's contribution to create a very obvious and sinister pattern and direction. Only the very few at the top know that. In this way the few can manipulate thousands in an organisation to advance an agenda that those thousands do not even know exists. There is a global version of this which manipulates billions in the same way.

These "individual" organisations, be they banks, trans-national corporations, media empires, NATO, etc., then fit into even bigger pyramids. So you find, for example, that at the peak of the global banking pyramid all the banks are ultimately controlled by the same people - the Illuminati. Same with the transnational corporations, the media, and so on. There is a global pyramid which encompasses the pyramids of banking, business, media, military, politics, and the other institutions that run the planet. At the peak of this pyramid you find the elite of the Illuminati who orchestrate their agenda for global control through all their, apparently unconnected, organisations.

This is why there has been an incessant move to centralisation of global power in all areas of our lives, banking, business, media, politics, whatever. It is orchestrated by the SAME people in accordance with the SAME agenda. The Illuminati manipulate humanity through the mind and emotions. There are too many people and too few Illuminati to control people physically, except on a small scale. They have to manipulate the way the masses think and feel, so we live our lives and see the world in the way the Illuminati want us to. For instance, the most powerful of the manipulation techniques is one I call Problem-Reaction-Solution. It works like this:

You want to introduce something you know the people won't like.This may be more power to the police, a further erosion of basic freedoms, even a war. You know that if you offer these policies openly the people will react against them. So you first create a PROBLEM, a rising crime rate, more violence, a terrorist bomb, a government collapse, or you get one of your Illuminati puppets like Saddam Hussein to go to war.

You make sure someone else is blamed for this problem and not you, the real people behind it all. So you create a "patsy", as they call them in America, a Timothy McVeigh or a Lee Harvey Oswald. You then use your media to tell people what they should think about your manufactured event and who they should blame for it. This brings us to stage two, the REACTION from the people - "This can't go on what are THEY going to do about it?"

This allows THEY to then openly offer the SOLUTION to the problems they have created - new legislaation which advances their agenda of centralisation of global power or the erosion of more basic freedoms. This technique is being used all the time on the human mind and emotions, not least with the stream of mind-contolled youngsters and adults who go crazy with guns around the world and immediately prompt gun control laws.

I say this as someone who does not have guns and believes passionately in non-violence. But if we are going to be street-wise we need to look beyond our own beliefs and realise that the Illuminati is seeking to systematically disarm those who WOULD use weapons against them. Just before Adolf Hitler began to fill the concentration camps he introduced the same anti-gun legislation which we are seeing today all over the world.

We are now at a crucial time in this agenda's history. So many cards are waiting to be played by the Illuminati in the next 12 months. We are at a crossroads in human history. We can choose freedom or fall under the control of a global fascist state, a global version of Nazi Germany.

This does not have to happen, but to stop it a lot of arses need to be removed from a lot of chairs. This website and the books will give you the detailed background from which informed choices can be made.

One of the crucial elements in the Illuminati global network is, as I have been emphasising in my books for years, the technique of "compartmentalisation".

The Illuminati structure is one of pyramids within bigger pyramids within still bigger pyramids until you reach the one that encompasses all the others. It is like Russian dolls, one inside the other.

Look at any organisation today, a bank, business, university, government, whatever, and you will see that it is structured as a compartmentalised pyramid. The person who sits behind the counter in a bank will not know what their branch manager is deciding or planning, and the manager, in turn, will not know what is happening at regional level, and they will not know what is being planned at national level, and on it goes.

The only people who know the true plans and agenda of that bank are the handful at the top of the pyramid who know how all the innocent, individual, contributions by people employed by the bank fit together. The overwhelming majority of employees, including those in agencies like the CIA and FBI, have no idea what the big picture is because they are compartmentalised from what is going on elsewhere at their own level, let alone at higher and higher levels.

What can seem matter of fact and innocent to an individual within the pyramid can be very much more sinister when put together with everyone else's compartmentalised contributions.

A "bank" pyramid, for instance, is encompassed by bigger pyramids until you have one that includes the whole global banking system and at the top of that are a handful of interbreeding families going back to the far ancient world who pull the strings of global finance to suit and manipulate their own agenda.

It is the same with governments, transnational corporations, the global media empires, the secret society network, national "security" agencies like the CIA, and so on. They are each compartmentalised on a "need to know" basis and imprisoned by bigger pyramids and at these higher levels these apparently unconnected institutions, businesses, and agencies are all the SAME organisation controlled by the SAME people.

This Illuminati structure of compartmentalised pyramids allows them to organise horrendous attacks like those in New York and Washington while those who actually hi-jacked the planes have no idea who the ultimate "Mr. Big" really is. For instance, the CIA (a mere tool and often fall guy for higher agencies) provided money and other support to the Afghan rebels and terrorist networks that eventually became the Taliban during the Soviet Union invasion.

But the money and support was channelled through Pakistan and elsewhere and while some in Afghanistan would have known where it was coming from, the vast majority would not have known the true source, nor the nature of the global game in which they were being used as mere pawns.

The Illuminati don't control everyone or even nearly everyone in these various organisations, they control those who control the organisation. It is through these few key positions of decision-making that everyone else in the organisation, the pyramid, is told what they will and will not do. It does not take many people to control the actions and policy of an organisation, whatever it may be, if you control the key decision-making positions.

So in terms of the atrocities in the United States, let's start with those who actually hi-jacked the planes. These could have been directly mind-controlled and programmed to do it, or they could have genuinely believed they were serving their religion. Probably a combination of the two. It matters not to the Illuminati, it is the outcome they are interested in.

The hi-jackers would have answered to a network or what they believed were the actual organisers. But from that point they would have lost track of the power game that was playing them like a violin. Who controlled what the hi-jackers believed was their support and organisational network? They have no idea.

The Illuminati do not represent a "side" or a "faction". They CREATE the "sides" and the "factions" and they use them to manipulate the game of divide and rule and centralisation of global power. They operate within the Islamic world as they operate within the "western world".

So as the bigger pyramids envelope the smaller pyramids you reach a point in the structure where the same force is manipulating and organising the horrors in America while also manipulating and organising the RESPONSE to those horrors through their puppets such as Bush, Cheney, Powell, and Blair.

This is how they can work their problem-reaction-solution scams. One of their strands creates the problem (in this case the U.S. atrocities) another strand (the media) tells the people the Illuminati version of the problem (98% of journalists do this unknowingly), and yet another strand offers the "solutions" to the problem, "solutions" which advance their global agenda (in this case a massive erosion of freedoms to "fight terrorism").

You could look at a structure something like this. There will be other elements involved, but it will give you an idea of what I am describing.

A recently published book looking at a shadowy outfit with close CIA links suggests truth is a continuing casualty of wars, including Iraq, writes Tony Stephens.

John Rendon, an adviser to the United States National Security Council and contracted to the Central Intelligence Agency, flew to Australia in April to attend the funeral for the Australian TV cameraman Paul Moran, who had been killed by a suicide bomber in Iraq.

Rendon heads the public relations Rendon Group, whose clients include the Pentagon and the CIA. He calls himself an "information warrior and a perception manager".

It was Rendon who provided the US flags for hundreds of Kuwaitis to wave when American troops rolled into Kuwait City at the end of the first Gulf War, signalling to the world that the Americans were liberating heroes.

And when President George Bush snr ordered the CIA in 1991 to run a covert operation to unseat Saddam Hussein, the CIA hired Rendon to organise anti-Saddam propaganda inside Iraq.

All these links are made clear in a book published in the US and Australia this week. Weapons of Mass Deception, by Sheldon Rampton and John Stauber, is subtitled "The uses of propaganda in Bush's war on Iraq". Stauber directs the Centre for Media and Democracy and the pair won the 2001 George Orwell Award for exposing the use of doublespeak in American life.


The book describes how Rendon helped opposition groups 11 years ago to form the Iraqi National Congress, headed by Ahmed Chalabi. Chalabi, who has been convicted in Jordan of fraud and embezzlement, remains the US choice to head a new Iraqi administration.

Chalabi's fortunes improved after the formation in 1997 of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC). Its founder was William Kristol, who edited the political affairs magazine The Weekly Standard, underwritten by Rupert Murdoch. Members included Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz and Pentagon adviser Richard Perle. PNAC lobbied for "regime change" in Iraq.

The post-September 11 "war on terror" brought new work for Rendon, in Afghanistan for a start. His presence at Moran's funeral in Adelaide hinted at his firm's activities in Iraq.

Colin James wrote in The Advertiser, Adelaide, of "Moran's Secret Crusade Against the Tyranny of Saddam". James quoted "a close friend, Rob Buchan" saying that Rendon's presence indicated the regard in which Moran was held in US political circles, including Congress.

Two days before Saddam's regime crumbled in Baghdad, The New York Times reported that the Iraqi National Congress, the organisation the Rendon Group had named and packaged, had returned to the country.

Wolfowitz and Perle backed the Chalabi view that any opposition to liberation/invasion would vanish quickly with Saddam's fall. Instead, Iraq now borders on guerilla war.

Rampton and Stauber have no way of knowing whether any propaganda outfit was behind the memorable toppling of Saddam's statue in Baghdad's Firdos Square.

They question, however, headlines such as "Jubilant Iraqis Swarm the Streets of Capital". A Reuters photograph taken with a long lens showed the square to be nearly empty, while 20,000 Shi'ites in Nasiriyah rallied against the coalition presence

Steel Not Seen As Factor in WTC Collapse

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) -- Early tests on steel beams from the World Trade Center show they generally met or were stronger than design requirements, ruling them out as a contributing cause of the collapse of the towers, federal investigators said Wednesday.

Engineers with the National Institute of Standards and Technology have conducted preliminary tests on some of the 236 pieces of steel from the wreckage, said Frank Gayle, who is leading NIST's review of the steel.

The tests found that, typical for construction steel used in the 1960s when the World Trade Center was erected, the steel beams exceeded requirements to bear 36,000 pounds per square inch. Often they were capable of bearing around 42,000 pounds per square inch.

"What that is showing us is that the steel that was applied certainly met the specifications, but was also significantly higher in some instances," lead investigator Shyam Sunder said.

A group of victims' families, the Skyscraper Safety Campaign, had complained that a majority of the beams from the site were quickly shipped off and reprocessed into new steel before it could be tested.



Sunder cautioned the NIST's results were preliminary, but said if those findings continue in further testing, that would rule out weak steel as a contributing factor in the collapse.

IAEA conference to discuss Israeli nukes for first time

LONDON — The International Atomic Energy Agency has decided to discuss Israeli nuclear capabilities in its next major conference.

Diplomatic sources said the IAEA has placed on the agenda of its General Conference and Regular Session the subject of "Israeli Nuclear Capabilities and Threats." The subject will be discussed at the conference in Vienna in September.

The sources said this is the first time in decades that the IAEA has placed Israel's nuclear programs on the agenda of its general conference.
Health insurance for the self-employed: Special offer
The conference has been planned from Sept. 15 to Sept. 19, Middle East Newsline reported. They said the subject was placed at the behest of Arab and Islamic states.

The proposal to discuss Israel's nuclear programs came from the Arab League, the diplomats said. Oman was said to have submitted the request.

The IAEA has reserved the conference to also discuss Iran's nuclear program and U.S. charges that Teheran is developing nuclear weapons. In response, Iran and Arab states have criticized the agency for failing to address Israel's purported nuclear arsenal.

In a recent meeting, the Arab League has asserted that Israel has stockpiled up to 300 nuclear warheads. The league said Israel now has the capability of producing hydrogen bombs.

The sources said the Arab League plans to distribute a study on Israel's nuclear programs to participants at the IAEA conference. The league will also demand that Israel sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

"Black," or classified, programs requested in President Bush's 2004 defense budget are at the highest level since 1988, according to a report prepared by the independent Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments.


The center concluded that classified spending next fiscal year will reach about $23.2 billion of the Pentagon's total request for procurement and research funding. When adjusted for inflation, that is the largest dollar figure since the peak reached during President Ronald Reagan's defense buildup 16 years ago. The amount in 1988 was $19.7 billion, or $26.7 billion if adjusted for inflation, according to the center.

"It's puzzling. It sets the mind to wondering where the money's going and what sort of politically controversial things the administration is doing because they're not telling anybody," said John E. Pike, director of GlobalSecurity.org, a research group in Alexandria that has been critical of the administration's defense priorities.

Pike said part of the surge in the classified budget probably can be explained by increases for the Central Intelligence Agency's covert action programs, which are central to the war on terrorism. Traditionally, Pike said, much of the funding for the CIA is hidden in Air Force weapons procurement accounts.

Borrowers pile up debt to pay off bills

Nearly one in four people are turning to loans and credit cards just to pay their household bills or meet day-to-day living costs, research said today.

According to accountancy firm KPMG, just over half of the 2,000 people questioned owed up to £10,000, excluding their mortgage, while 16% had accumulated debts of between £10,00 and £40,000.

Fifteen per cent of people said their debts were spiralling out of control or keeping them awake at night, while 45% admitted they regularly failed to check their bank statements and credit card bills.

"These figures do not surprise me. Net pay is falling in relative terms partly due to the increase in national insurance contributions and people are opting for credit and loans to top up their incomes," said KPMG adviser Carolyn Steppler.

"In this low interest rate climate that is a worrying trend, but it could become a huge burden if the economy takes a turn for the worse. Many people may struggle to pay back these loans."

One in seven people said they had taken advantage of credit because they enjoyed spending, while 16% had done so to buy a car and 8% had used a credit card or loan to pay for a holiday.

Around 84% of those questioned said they hoped to pay off their debts within five years, with 22% saying they would work overtime, or try to get a new job or a promotion to pay them off.

Just under one in 10 said they would consolidate their debt into one loan, while 7% planned to sell their home or remortgage it to clear their other borrowings.

More than a third of people said they either had no idea or only a rough idea how much interest they were paying on their debt, while 94% said they thought there should be some form of financial education on the national curriculum.

Remember how soon after those attacks that US authorities were very sure that Bin Laden was behind the events of the 11th September? Report: U.S suspects Iraqi WMD in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley

U.S. intelligence suspects Iraq's weapons of mass destruction have finally been located.

Unfortunately, getting to them will be nearly impossible for the United States and its allies, because the containers with the strategic materials are not in Iraq.

Instead they are located in Lebanon's heavily-fortified Bekaa Valley, swarming with Iranian and Syrian forces, and Hizbullah and ex-Iraqi agents, Geostrategy-Direct.com will report in Wednesday's new weekly edition.

U.S. intelligence first identified a stream of tractor-trailer trucks moving from Iraq to Syria to Lebaon in January 2003. The significance of this sighting did not register on the CIA at the time.

U.S. intelligence sources believe the area contains extended-range Scud-based missiles and parts for chemical and biological warheads.


Mutually-lucrative Iraqi-Syrian arms transactions are nothing new. Firas Tlas, son of Syrian Defense Minister Mustafa Tlas, has been the key to Syria's rogue alliance with Iraq. He and Assad made hundreds of millions of dollars selling weapons, oil and drugs to and from Iraq, according to the May 13, 2003 edition of Geostrategy-Direct.com.

The CIA now believes a multi-million dollar deal between Iraq and Syria provided for the hiding and safekeeping of Saddam's strategic weapons.

Not surprisingly, U.S. inquiries in Beirut and Syria are being met with little substantive response, U.S. officials said.
