There is a new danger coming to your bathroom: John Prescott is getting into the plumbing.

Under plans to be decided in detail with industry leaders this week, the Government is preparing to control the maximum temperature of Britain's baths.

Regulations will require that devices limiting the temperature of water available from bath taps be fitted in all new homes. The law, which the Government says is "essential" to prevent scalding, is expected to take effect in 2006.

The measures brought criticism from both the Conservatives, who spoke of "nanny state interference", and plumbers, who called the plan "bathwatergate".

Pamatuji si, jak někdy v sedmé třídě základní školy nám učitel vyprávěl o kapitalistech, kteří polévají úrodu pomerančů naftou a pálí ji, aby nemuseli snížit ceny. Myslel jsem si tenkrát (v podstatě až do dneška), že to byl výplod zuřivé protikapitalistické propagandy.

Dnes mi někdo poslal článek z Lidovek ČEZ nebude spalovat obilí v elektrárnách. Praví se v něm, že ač ČEZ o této možnosti uvažovaly, nakonec obilí spalovat nebudou. Nicméně existují v Čechách prý desítky obcí a stovky domácností, které obilím běžně topí. Je to prý velmi ekologické. A není na tom nic špatného.

Jako důvod se uvádí nadúroda, která je prý stejně škodlivá jako neúroda.

Také máte pocit, že je něco shnilého v systému, který ničí přebytky vypěstované z půdy, namísto aby je prodal či rozdal nebo zlevnil potraviny z nich vyráběné?

A to už nemluvím o tom, že například omezení pesticidů, herbicidů a hnojení by rovněž vedlo ke kýženému snížení úrody. A ještě by to bylo levnější a šetrnější k planetě. Ale tak daleko nikdo z magorů orientovaných na profit zřejmě nedohlédne.

'Superpower behind' Burma blasts

The government says the terrorists and explosive came from abroad

Burma's government says rebels trained abroad by a "superpower" were behind last week's bombings at three shopping centres in the capital, Rangoon.

Nineteen people are known to have died in the blasts, with 69 injured.

The explosives used were not available in the country, and the plot was funded by a "world famous organisation", the military government said.

The junta said it believes the attacks were led by the Thailand-based All Burma Students Democratic Front.

"It is crystal clear that the terrorists... and the time bombs originated from training conducted with foreign experts at a place in a neighbouring country by a world famous organisation of a certain superpower nation," Information Minister Kyaw Hsan told reporters.

He also accused the unnamed organisation - based in Washington - of having given $100,000 (£54,000) to a dissident group led by a cousin of pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

The group then sent a group of saboteurs to Burma to carry out the attacks, helped by ethnic Shan, Karen and Karenni rebels, the minister added.

The three minority ethnic groups have denied any involvement.

Even though the minister refused to name the suspected country and organisation, correspondents believe he was referring to the United States and the CIA.

The bombs went off at two supermarkets and at a conference centre in Rangoon on 7 May.

The Thai-based National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma, which has led a government in exile since 1990, has alleged the government might have had the bombs planted to blame the opposition.

Neuromarketing: Peeking Inside the Black Box

The field of marketing research marches onward year after year, with new techniques and new approaches.
For example, I remember when "garbology" first came out. Many found much amusement in the idea of rooting through someone's garbage to better understand their consumption patterns. Today, it is much more accepted, though still assigned to more junior market researchers.

A type of marketing research that has recently garnered considerable attention is "neuromarketing." What set off this interest was a study published in the October 14, 2004 issue of Neuron. Researchers monitored brain scans of 67 people who were given a blind taste test of Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Using brain scanners, they could see that each soft drink "lit up" the brain's reward system.

Participants were evenly split about which drink they preferred. However, when the same people were told what they were drinking, activity in a different set of brain regions were engaged. Three out of four said they preferred Coca-Cola. This demonstrated in a fairly dramatic way that brand matters.

For as long has I have been a student of marketing, we have regarded the human mind as a "black box," something which was rather mysterious. We marketers do our thing: beaming advertising, direct marketing pieces, a sales pitch or what have you to our target market.

We can measure the results of that marketing effort, in terms of sales, awareness, liking and so on. We understand reasonably well the beginning and end of the process—but not the vital part in the middle. That is, what goes on inside the mind of the consumer.

This is what is changing with neuromarketing. First, let me take a run at defining it.

The basic fundamental science underlying neuromarketing is neuroscience, which is the study of the how the brain gives rise to the mind. In other words, neuroscience is how the brain enables us to perceive, think, make decisions, feel emotions, communicate (i.e., the neural basis of human experience).

Techniques used by neuroscience are psychophysics (reaction times/detection levels), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), magnetoencephalography (MEG) and electroencephalography (EEG). The most interesting of these to neuromarketing is fMRI scanning. I am sure we all have seen these on ER or other television shows, where the patient is slid inside a machine that hums and makes various other noises.

Neuromarketing is the application of the techniques of neuroscience to marketing stimuli—in layman's terms, to see how the brain "lights up" when exposed to our marketing efforts.

Science has made a great deal of progress in understanding our brains. Many called the '90s the "decade of the brain," and in the last 20 years there have been more than 100,000 scientific publications on this most complex of organs.

It is early days for neuroscience. But what research has been done has stirred up a considerable amount of interest in the idea of neuromarketing. It is being touted by some as the next big thing. If marketers can use science to locate consumers' "buy buttons," then we have gotten closer to opening the "black box" of the consumer's mind.

The best use of neuromarketing is in predicting behavior—spotting the advertisements that people remember, selecting the media format that works best and how what consumers actually do differs from what they tell focus groups. Other uses I have seen or read about include reactions to movie trailers, choices about automobiles, the appeal of a pretty face and visceral reactions to political campaign advertising.

Neuromarketing has critics. I share some of their fears. Neuromarketing raises the possibility of a too-useful tool for Big Brother, for example. Other concerns include the costs and the unpleasantness of a scan.

Dr. Gemma Calvert, cofounder of Neurosense Ltd., a neuromarketing consultancy, noted in a recent issue of the London Times: "MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is not as expensive as people think and is only slightly more expensive than the average cost of conducting focus groups...and OK, it is not pleasant, but it isn't unpleasant either. We have never had a problem getting people into scanners; most have read about brain imaging and are really keen to have a go."

At this point, brain scanning is being used as an adjunct to traditional market research techniques, including focus groups. In the future, perhaps 5-10 years off at this point, I think brain scanning may well become a routine part of corporate marketing strategies.

Hrozí mu až sedm let ve vězení. “Myslím-li upřímně to, co říkám, a mají-li moje kroky takové dopady, jsem připraven si za nimi stát. Mám-li jít do vězení kvůli tomu, že nechci nikoho zabíjet, tak to tak bude,“ říká Benderman. Není přitom sám: na dezerci z armády se podle aktivistů dramaticky podepsala takzvaná válka proti terorismu. Aktivisté tvrdí, že po 11. září 2001 se počet volání na pomocnou linku pro dezertéry a odpírače zvýšil o polovinu. Loni aktivisté přijali více než 30 tisíc volání. "Lidé nám volají proto, že to je skutečný problém,“ říká Robert Dove, který v jedné takové organizaci na pomoc vojákům pracuje. Lidé, kteří dobrovolníky kontaktují, zahrnují veterány, jako je seržant Benderman, i lidí, jako je Jeremiah Adler, 18letý idealista z Portlandu, který do armády vstoupil, aby změnil vnitřní kulturu, která v ní panuje. This website has documented many times before the fact that whenever an arrest of a high level terrorist suspect is announced in every single case they’re either dead, they’ve already been arrested or they pop up a week later in a different country.

In the case of this latest arrest the US government has successfully hoodwinked the entire nation into believing that a person is someone they’re not.

He was presented to us as Al-Qaeda number three, closely associated with bin Laden, someone who had recent contact with bin Laden and someone who could lead us to bin Laden.

Fox News revelled in it for days, another sign that Bush is winning the war on terror. I watched the snivelling Neo-Con John Gibson’s show and they had government officials and current CIA agents on snickering about how they wished they were in the interrogation room with the Pakistanis so they could torture this guy.

And it turns out of course that our friend Mr. Al Libbi is not Al-Qaeda number three at all. The London Times described him as among the flotsam jetsam of the organization.

Al Libbi is spelt L I B B I and the real Mr. Al Libby is spelt L I B B Y – so on the basis of a misspelt name this flotsam jetsam becomes Al-Qaeda number three, becomes a justification that the war on terror is real in the first place, becomes justification that Bush is winning the war on terror and that sacrificing our rights is working, becomes justification for renewing the Patriot Act and becomes part of the script they’re working on for when they capture their friend Osama.

All that on the basis of a spelling mistake and yet the American people are none the wiser because it’s only in the European newspapers.

We’re going to be hearing about the Newsweek retraction about the Koran story for weeks. Where’s the retraction that they captured Al-Qaeda number three? Because they didn’t.

They captured a nobody with a similar sounding name.

They have to keep faking these arrests because people are starting to get wise and ask a simple question - if we’re in a war on terror then why haven’t we been attacked for four years. Ah... because we’re winning of course. We’ve smoked them out and got them on the run.

When they bring out Al-Zarqawi it will be the reward for staying the course in Iraq, for re-upping the stop loss because we caught the killer. And no one will mention that major newspapers all over the world keep reporting he’s either been killed or captured over and over again but the Pentagon pays no attention to it because if he’s going to be captured then he’s going to be captured by them and no one else.

They need the gas mileage that staged capture will give them to stay in Iraq and establish the military bases needed to launch the attack on Iran.

It’s all theatre, all the time.

Buried down in today’s New York Times report on President Bush reaffirming his unqualified support for John Bolton as U.N. Ambassador is the reason why almost all of you are ready to vote for his confirmation.

“Republicans are hoping to shame Democrats into a quick vote on Mr. Bolton. They argue that he needs to be in place by June so that the United States will have the latitude it needs to press its concerns about Iran's suspected nuclear weapons program before the Security Council.”

Why the big rush? My reliable sources tell me it is because there is a timetable that makes it urgent for Bolton to be ready for action in June in order to cripple the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as part of the plan to bomb the Iranian nuclear-power plant at Bushehr. That’s because Bushehr, under construction with Russian supervision, will soon be ready to receive the Russian fissionable material enabling it to produce power. In 1981, remember Republican Senators, Israel bombed the Osiraq nuclear power plant near Baghdad just before it was to be fueled by its French contractors. Once fueled, bombing is out of the question because of the radiation that would be emitted, with clouds traveling who knows where.
Of course you must know by now that at the time the Israelis blew up Osiraq, the situation was quite different. We were in the midst of the Cold War, the United States was supporting Iraq in its war against Iran, and the Russians were supporting Iran. So when the billion-dollar Osiraq plant went up in smoke (with the help of the neo-cons who were already occupying the Pentagon in that first year of the Reagan administration), there was no reaction from Russia because the Israelis were essentially bombing us!! We also know by now that Iraq did not have a nuclear weapons program at the time, but only began its (unsuccessful) clandestine effort after Osiraq.

The same is now true of Iran. If a month or two from now you are advised by President Bush that it is necessary to take out Bushehr to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, you would have to wonder if the neo-cons and their Likud allies in Tel Aviv aren’t simply threatening World War III on a faulty premise. Wouldn’t you? The situation now is quite different, with Bushehr a Russian project in Iran.

On a recent, quite incredible FoxNews special, Lieut. General Thomas McInerney said we are already moving aircraft carriers into positions from which we could strike. He was then asked: “If you had to put a percentage on it, the chances that the US will eventually have to take military actions against Iran, what would you put it at?” to which McInerney replied casually: “Well, I would put one percent of using ground forces, boots on the ground in Iran, I would put up 50 percent on a blockade and I would put up fifty to sixty percent on precision air strikes on their nuclear development sites.” He also observed casually that Iran wouldn’t dare take on the United States. Perhaps the 60 million Iranians would greet our bombers with garlands and sweets. Do you see what I mean? FoxNews, as you may know, is commonly known as "The War Channel," for similar work it did in promoting the war against Iraq.

Another scientist involved in disease control has been killed. David Banks was the principal scientist with Biosecurity Australia and was involved in containing pest and disease threats. He died along with 15 other people when the commuter plane he was traveling in went down in Queensland, Australia.

The communications manager at Biosecurity Australia described it as a devastating loss for the country. His primary mission was protecting livestock and plants in the country, and keeping diseases from crossing into Australia. He was an expert in the propagation of diseases by insect vectors, among other things.

Since January of 2004, more than twenty scientists are known to have died in accidents, under suspicious circumstances, or been murdered.

Tom Thorne and Beth Williams, prominent experts on chronic wasting disease, were killed on December 29, 2004, in a road accident.

In November, the former head of the Infectious Diseases Unit of the National Institute of Allegies and Infectuous Diseases died in Mexico, with no cause of death given.

In October, Matthew Allison was killed by an explosion in his car, either due to a bomb or a self-induced explosion. He had degrees in microbiology and biotechnology but was not apparently involved in the field when he died.

In August, Dr. John Clark, an expert in animal science who developed the techniques that led to the creation of Dolly the sheep, the first cloned animal, was found hanged in his home.

In July, Dr. John Badwey, a biochemist at Harvard Medical School, developed a pneumonia that could not be diagnosed and died.

In June, Dr. John Mullen, a McDonnell Douglas nuclear scientist on contract to Boeing, was killed by a massive dose of arsenic. Also in June, Dallas county's chief epidemiologist, Dr. Assefa Tulu, died of a hemmorhagic stroke, believed to be an accidental death.

Dr. Eugene Mallove, an alternative energy expert and cold fusion researcher, was beaten to death in May near his home. He had just published a letter stating that it was only a matter of months before the world would see a free energy device.

Also in May, the body of senior programming analyist William T. McGuire, was found in three suitcases in and around the Chesapeake Bay. His murder remains unsolved, and no motive has been uncovered. He was an adjunct professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

In March, Louisiana State University emeritus professor of microbiology Dr. Vadake Srinivasan died in an auto accident apparently caused by a stroke.

In January of 2004, Dr. Michael Patrick Kiley, an expert on Mad Cow and Ebola died of unexpected heart failure, and Dr. Robert Shope, a virus expert died of lung transplant complications.

In October of 2003, another LSU professor, West Nile researcher Michael Perich, died in a single-vehicle car accident.

In July of 2003, British biological weapons expert David Kelly died after allegedly slashing his own wrists while walking near his home. He was the Ministry of Defence's chief scientific officer and senior adviser on biological weapons to the UN biological weapons inspection teams in Iraq.

Dr. Leland Rickman, an expert on infectious diseases and consultant on bioterrorism at the University of California at San Diego died during a visit to Lesotho.

The list is a long one, and it goes on. Since 2001, there have been 47 such deaths reported outside of Iraq, and reputedly numerous scientsts in Iraq who worked on Saddam Hussein's weapons programs have been assassinated.

The city's airport has three times as many cameras as any other US airport, chiefly to keep a watch over the numerous slot machines that crowd the facility right up to the arrival and departure gates.

Even inside a taxi, when the visitor sits in the back seat a white light comes on beneath the rear view mirror to indicate that every movement is being videotaped.

"It's brand new, we've had it for two weeks. It's supposed to make us safer, but lots of customers complain about it. Drivers don't like it, don't like to be under watch all the time," said cab driver Yodi Soliman.

Myanmar charges superpower with being behind bomb attacks

Myanmar on Sunday charged a superpower nation with being behind the May 7 deadly bombing incident in Yangon by using well-trained bombers of anti-government armed groups trained out in a neighboring country under the name of an international organization engaged in refugee relief work.

The accusation was made by government spokesman Brigadier-General Kyaw Hsan, who is Minister of Information, at a press briefing here.

Members of the anti-government armed groups have received blasting explosives trainings in the border areas given by a world famous organization of a superpower nation, he said.

It is generally understood that the superpower which he implied is the United States.

The government, based on its laboratory analysis, confirmed that the cordite used in the time-bombs must be RDX (Research Department Explosive) utilized by the armies in big nations and such high-explosive bombs could only be handled by well-trained bombers and Myanmar is not in a position to produce such devices, he said.

Dnes jsem se dozvěděl, že studenti na střední škole v malém městečku Madras v Oregonu byli další v řadě, kteří museli ustoupit tlaku systému. Platby za obědy nyní realizují pouhým přiblížením ruky ke snímači. Pod kůži na ruce totiž mají mikročip RFID.


A včera - v podobné souvislosti - zase přijal RFID VeriChip šéf policie, pán Jack Schmidig z Bergen County na Floridě. Muž, který slouží u policie 30 let. Mikročip přijal v rámci kampaně firmy ADS (Applied Digital Solution). Tato kampaň si klade za cíl označit mikročipem všechny klíčové a vůdčí osobnosti v regionu. Podle strategie ADS by to mělo přispět k popularizaci u širokých vrstev obyvatelstva.

V tom smyslu se ostatně vyjádřil i výkonný ředitel firmy VeriChip Kevin H. McLaughlin, který u této příležitosti řekl: "Vůdčí osobnosti naší společnosti přijímají VeriChipy. Tím reprezentují skvělý příklad pro ostatní, kteří pak budou také lehčeji akceptovat naší technologii."

Nový agresívní indoktrinační program s motem myšlenky a názory vůdců by měly hrát klíčovou roli při adopci VeriChipu je směrován k tomu, aby široká veřejnost konečně začala být vůči mikročipovým implantům designovaným pro lidi podstatně vstřícnější. Mikročip firmy ADS VeriChip už prošel příslušnými zdravotními testy a byl agenturou FDA schválen jako zdraví neškodný.

Počátkem roku předložila firma ADS důkaz, že do mikročipů byly vloženy ochranné prvky zajišťující soukromí. ADS získala patentová práva na technologii Digital Angel 10. prosince 1999. To, co tuto firmu odlišuje od ostatní konkurence, je inovační design - miniaturní digitální vysílač zvlášť přizpůsoben pro lidské implanty. Podle informací uvolněných minulý rok umožňuje implantovaný vysílač průběžně přijímat a odesílat data a lze jej zaměřit přes GPS (Global Positioning Satellite). Způsob ovládání a zdroj elektrické energie jsou v oboru novinkou, která zatím žádná konkurence nenabízí. Po implantaci je elektřina vyráběna elektromechanicky přímo v těle prostým pohybem svalů nositele. Jednotka může být aktivována nositelem nebo na dálku příkazem z monitorovacího centra.

Zpráva Information Technology potvrdila plán studovat možnost pomocí implantovaných mikročipů sledovat pohyb teroristů. Firma původně od nápadu přizpůsobit svůj Digital Angel implementaci do těla nositele ustoupila, nyní předpovídá (ve světle teroristických útoků z 11. září) nové použití tohoto produktu pod novým jménem VeriChip. "Začali jsme po 11. září uvažovat jinak," říká mluvčí firmy. "Nyní vznikla větší potřeba monitorovat zločinné aktivity."

ADS rovněž tvrdí, že jejich VeriChip má široké možnosti využití i jinde, jak např. umožňuje neovlivnitelnou identifikaci jednotlivců pro přihlašování do počítačových systému, pomáhá vysledovat a najít zatoulané domácí zvíře, popř. člena rodiny, nalezne cennou věc a umožňuje monitorování pacientů se zvýšeným zdravotním rizikem na dálku.

Po té, co firma obdržela cenu Internet World Wireless Best of Show: Client Services, řekl výkonný ředitel ADS Mercedes Walton: "Vždy jsme vkládali do našich produktů vysoké očekávání. Tohle ocenění je skutečně potvrzení naší víry v možnosti Digital Angel, v jeho schopnosti přitáhnout zájem veřejnosti. Anticipace zákazníků se zvolna mění - od původní nedůvěry přechází ke stále vzrůstajícímu zájmu ze strany potenciálních partnerů a společníků. Těšíme se na uvedení Digital Angel na široký trh v co nejkratší době."

Firma rovněž zřídila za účelem propagace webovou stránku www.digitalangel.com, kde si zájemci mohou nastudovat některé diagramy a získat informace, které je firma ochotná sdělit.

Ani konkurence nezahálí. V tichosti testovala v posledních létech podobné jednotky. Noviny London Times informují o tom, že mezi 45 lidmi v Británii - nositeli mikročipu - je několik Britů a několik dětí milionářů. Test mikročipu SkyEye je tajný.

Vzhledem k občanským svobodám a ochraně soukromí ohlásila organizace ACLU svůj negativní postoj vůči povinným implantům mikročipů. V tom se – kupodivu – její postoj kryje s postojem některých konzervativních kruhů.
Naplnění proroctví?

Mnoho lidí věří, že antikristův systém přichází a že se objeví v nedaleké budoucnosti. Bude to to, čemu se říká New World Order. V jeho rámci zmizí hranice mezi státy a etnické skupiny, ideologie, náboženství a ekonomika v celém světě budou řízeny jedinou dominantní vládou. Tento systém má být údajně zbaven náboženských a politických extrémů a bude tolerovat filosofické a kulturní rozdíly svých členů. S výjimkou drobných nekonformností budou války, terorismus a hlad minulostí.

Podle populárního výkladu biblických textů se do čela této administrace postaví jedinec. Bude se jevit jako člověk mimořádných kvalit, ale nakonec se změní v krále divokého vzezření (Dan. 8:23).

Formou univerzálních výnosů a nařízení uskuteční tento antikrist jednotnou světovou vládu, univerzální náboženství a globálně monitorovaný socialismus. Ti, kdož odmítnou jeho Nový světový pořádek, budou uvězněni a neodvratně zničeni do posledního muže, dokud se konečně on sám "nepozvedne nad všechny, kteří byli dříve nazývání bohy, a kterým bylo jako bohům slouženo, takže on sám, jako Bůh bude trůnit v chrámu Boha, a dokáže tím, že je Bůh." (2. Thess. 2:24)

Široká moc antikrista bude uskutečňována na účet individuálních lidských svobod. Přinutí všechny, "malé i velké, bohaté i chudé, svobodné i otroky, aby měli na pravé ruce nebo na čele cejch, aby nemohl kupovat ani prodávat, kdo není označen jménem té šelmy nebo číslicí jejího jména. To je třeba pochopit: kdo má rozum, ať sečte číslice té šelmy. To číslo označuje člověka, a je to číslo 666. (Zjevení sv. Jana, 13:16)

Myšlenka, že by lidstvo degradovalo v jakousi masu ne nepodobnou označkovanému dobytku, a že drsný neotesaný individualismus by byl následně obětován a vyměněn za astetickou univerzální harmonii, byla největšími americkými mysliteli mnohokrát odmítnuta.

Pak, v roce 1970, se začaly věci měnit. Nejprve přišla Rockfellerovu výzva na vytvoření "Nového světového pořádku". Po ní začal prezidentský kandidát Jimmy Carter ve své kampani hovořit takto: "Musíme nahradit rovnováhu moci politiků světovým pořádkem politiků."

V osmdesátých létech pokračoval prezident Bush směrem vytyčeným jeho předchůdcem. V celonárodní televizi oznámil, že nadešel čas "Nového světového pořádku". Po tomto televizním projevu hovořil Bush v Kongresu, kde řekl: "Jde nám o víc, než jen o jednu malou zemi (Kuvajt). Je to velká myšlenka. - nový světový pořádek, kde rozdílné národy spojuje dohromady společná snaha po dosažení univerzálního přání všeho lidstva: dosažení míru a bezpečnosti, svobody a zákonnosti. Tohle je svět, o který stojí za to bojovat, tohle je svět který chceme přenechat naším dětem!"

Od té doby, od doby oznámení šokujícího prezidentova plánu, následovala celá plejáda politiků, náboženských vůdců, která se zaměřila na implementaci cílů Nového světového pořádku.

Vývoj biometrických implantů provází podobný jazyk oznamující kompatibilní světovou technologii a mnoho Američanů považuje elektronické označkování člověka popř. implantaci série digitálních mikročipů pod kůži jako přirozený vývoj těchto moderních a nezbytných technologií.
Nemělo by nás to překvapovat

Někteří lidé si myslí, že implantované mikročipy se stanou oním biblickým znamením šelmy. Tvrdí, že teroristické činy, jako ty 11. září, podněcují značkování lidí mikročipy kvůli identifikaci.

Ale ty tlaky na značkování lidí tady byly dlouhou dobu i před newyorskou a pentagonskou tragédií. Uvažte tohle:

1. Už v roce 1973 předestřeli straší scholastikové před tehdejšími dětmi školního věku koncept nákupů a prodejů za použití čísla na čele. 20. září 1973 publikoval sekulární žurnál pro střední školy článek "Kdo tě hlídá?", kde bylo uvedeno: Veškeré koupě a prodeje v budoucnosti budou prováděny prostřednictvím počítačů. Žádná měna, žádné drobné, žádné šeky. Lidé obdrží číslo vytetované laserem na zápěstí nebo na čelo. Nebude to bolet. Číslo nebude normálně vidět. Bude stejně trvalé jako tvůj otisk prstů. Všechno zboží bude označkováno počítačovou značkou. Počítač v obchodě si přečte z každého zboží jeho číslo, při pokladně snímač zaregistruje číslo zákazníka, počítač sečte ceny zboží a výslednou částku automaticky odečte z osobního účtu.

2. V roce 1974 v článku Spektrum eugeniky upozornil autor Charles Frankel na návrh nositele Nobelovy ceny Lina Paulinga, aby každý mladý člověk dostal na nohu nebo čelo vytetováno číslo. Podle Paulingovovy vize mělo číslo znamenat genotyp.

3. Novináři v USA a ve světě pokračují ve varováních, že federální vláda uvažuje o zavedení národních občanských průkazů, bez kterých nebude možno pracovat nebo obchodovat.

4. V roce 1981 pak noviny Denver Post Sun na tuto myšlenku navázaly prohlášením, že mikročipový implant by jednoho dne mohl nahradit občanské průkazy. Článek z 21. června 1981 uvádí: Mikročip je vložen do injekční stříkačky spolu s antibakteriálním roztokem. Jehla je chráněna obalem. Injekce je připravena trvale označit něco nebo – někoho.

5. Noviny Chicago Tribune položily 7.5.1996 otázku, zda můžeme důvěřovat Velkému bratrovi pod vlastní kůží.

6. V roce 1997 byla vyplněna aplikace pro patentování podkožního implantu pro označování osob či zvířat.

7. Time magazin uveřejnil 27.4.1998 článek Teorie Velké banky a co se říká o budoucnosti peněz, kde se píše: Vaše dcera si může peníze uschovat jakýmkoliv způsobem: ve svém laptopu, na své debetní kartě a dokonce - v nedaleké budoucnosti - přímo v mikročipu implementovaném pod kůži.

8. V srpnu 1998 přenášela televize BBC první implementaci mikročipu pod kůži člověka.

9. V tomtéž měsíci varovaly noviny Sunday Portland Oregonian, že navrhované řešení identifikace jedince pro zdravotní účely může porušovat soukromí jednotlivců, bude-li zaznamenávat jejich pohyb. Šokující odhalení popisovalo člověka s čárkovým kódem na čele.

10. A docela nedávno sledovaly miliony diváků v přímém přenosu Today Show, jak se dekády prorockých varování materializují, když první americká rodina obdržela v lékařově ordinaci v Boca Raton pod kůži mikročip.

Od té doby jde byznys jako obvykle.

Mezitím mnoho lidí pod strachem z terorismu je ochotno obětovat nějakou tu svou svobodu... Zákon zavádějící celostátní identifikační čísla maskován jako imigrační reforma se projednává v Kongresu... a Digital Angel rozšířil produkci a otevřel další továrnu v Palm Beach na Floridě.
Bude digitální značkování brzy povinné?

Výrobci mikročipů pro implantaci tvrdí, že procedura bude dobrovolná. Ale ve zprávě vypracováné Elaine M. Ramishovou pro Franklin Pierce Law Center se uvádí: Povinné celonárodní označení mikročipy může být dosaženo ve dvou krocích: Nejprve bude představeno veřejnosti jako něco dobrovolného. Ukáže se, že je to stravitelné. Po té, co se veřejnost seznámí blíže s celou procedurou a bude znát všechny výhody implementace, zavede se to jako povinné.

Komunikační ředitel strany Libertarianů George Getz souhlasí: "Konec konců, stát přeci také nikoho nenutí, aby si udělal řidičský průkaz. Ale zkuste být bez něj, když každý od úředníka v tvé bance přes pronájem auta, přes recepčního v hotelu, po prodavače v potravinách jej vyžaduje, aby vám mohli poskytnout výhody jejich služeb. Tím se de facto stal řidičský průkaz nutností. Jestliže vás stát může donutit odevzdat otisky prstů při žádosti o řidičský průkaz, proč by vás nemohl donutit přijmout mikročip pod kůži?"

Lidé jako pan Getz mají pravdu. Konzervativci a liberálové by měli kontaktovat své zástupce a požadovat zákony ochraňující individuální práva dříve než Digital Angels a podobné síly srazí humanitu na cestu, ze které není návratu.

Tak, jako čísla sociálního pojištění byla zpočátku dobrovolná a později se stala povinnými, tak stejně i biometrické čipy se stanou v budoucnu povinnými, jestliže se lidé okamžitě nevzchopí k celonárodní opozici. Dokonce i jeden z výkonných ředitelů ADS Richard Sullivan hovoří o vizi, kde budou lidé povinně značkováni mikročipem nebo vybaveni nějakým jiným zařízením, které by umožnilo je identifikovat a nepřetržitě monitorovat.

A nakonec si znovu připomeňme slova ze Zjevení sv. Jana, 13:16: ...a nutí všechny, malé i velké, bohaté i chudé, svobodné i otroky, aby měli na pravé ruce nebo na čele cejch, aby nemohl kupovat ani prodávat, kdo není označen jménem té šelmy nebo číslicí jejího jména. To je třeba pochopit: kdo má rozum, ať sečte číslice té šelmy. To číslo označuje člověka, a je to číslo 666.

We're all paranoid
Sure, the people with the 9/11 conspiracy theories are a little odd. But not everything they're saying is entirely crazy.

This was the local premiere of The Great Conspiracy: The 9/11 News Special You Never Saw, a benefit screening for the Northern California 9/11 Truth Alliance, whose activists have been laboring for more than three years to dispel popular belief in the government's version of the events on that fateful day.

Yet the most disturbing thing about the 9/11 truth movement, something you learn when you really dissect their most compelling evidence, is that the activists are raising critically important questions about the Bush administration's lies, cover-ups, and geopolitical strategy – questions that are being almost entirely ignored by the mainstream media.

And they may well be right that more went down on 9/11 than the government wants us to know.


Pick a theory


Everyone who has seriously considered the 9/11 attacks is a conspiracy theorist. To not try to put the pieces together is to be incurious about the most profound event of this new American century.

The Bush administration offered its conspiracy theory while the buildings were still ablaze, has done little since then to deviate from it – and has done almost nothing to prove its veracity beyond a shadow of a doubt.

It goes like this: Nineteen fanatical Muslims conspired with Osama bin Laden and other al-Qaeda leaders to plan and execute the hijacking of four commercial airplanes using box cutters and the element of surprise, and to fly those planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and probably the White House.

Three of those planes hit their targets with pinpoint accuracy before the U.S. military could react – two of them causing the most catastrophic structural failures of steel skyscrapers in history – while a passenger rebellion in the fourth airplane forced the hijackers to crash it into a Pennsylvania field. All this was unexpected and couldn't have been prevented. The attacks were an act of war launched by a well-organized and well-funded international terrorist operation.

To believe this theory, you must accept that, despite receiving an unprecedented flurry of intelligence warnings about imminent terrorist attacks on the United States, the military was caught so off guard that it couldn't even pull the commander in chief out of his elementary-school photo op or get fighter jets in place during the 34 minutes between when the second tower and the Pentagon were hit – even though everyone knew that the United States was under attack and that Flight 77 was known to have been hijacked and was being tracked on radar the entire time it barreled toward the nation's military headquarters. (Each of these facts is from the official 9/11 Commission Report.)

And you have to believe that the Bush administration cover-ups that came next – from denying information requests from the commission, Congress, and criminal courts to telling lies about its intelligence and actions – were entirely about avoiding political embarrassment or for some undisclosed national security reason, and that nothing more ominous (or related to the geopolitics of oil) was remotely intertwined with any of this.

You have to believe, in other words, that one of the most secretive and manipulative administrations in U.S. history is telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth about an event it has aggressively exploited to implement long-standing and far-reaching political plans, from the USA PATRIOT Act to the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.

The 9/11 truth movement has it own theories, which range from the plausible to the preposterous. One of them goes like this: A pair of Texas oilmen become president and vice president in 2000, thanks to support from the military-industrial complex, Wall Street, and neoconservative ideologues determined to have the United States retain its dominance as the last remaining superpower.

Those political leaders and strategists believe the key to continued U.S. economic and military supremacy – indeed, the American way of life – is control of Eurasia and its vast oil reserves. It's a belief they've openly expressed in lectures, papers, and books. And their meetings with top energy officials confirm that the United States will need to have that control sooner than later, despite rising anti-Americanism in an area that also happens to be the center of the Islamic world.

They know the American people won't support such crude empire building without some trigger, some "new Pearl Harbor," as Dick Cheney's Project for the New American Century called it in a paper it put out in 2000. So when they start getting intelligence briefings with titles like "Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in U.S.," they either simply do nothing, or maybe some faction of them actively facilitates this attack by the former Central Intelligence Agency asset's terrorist group.

To believe this theory, you have to believe U.S. officials are willing to allow the deaths of thousands of innocent people – and to perpetuate a vast set of lies and cover-ups – in order to further what they consider to be vital U.S. strategic and economic interests. Put another way, you have to believe the attacks of 9/11 could have been another in a long line of appalling events in U.S. history that were manipulated and, in some cases, entirely fabricated as a pretext for war – from the sinking of the Maine to the Gulf of Tonkin incident.

It's not terribly surprising that a lot of people – including people who are by no means crazy conspiracy theorists – are willing to consider that possibility.

"The official story of 9/11 is a conspiracy theory," researcher Ken Jenkins told the International Inquiry into 9/11, a conference activists staged at San Francisco's Herbst Theatre a year ago. "So it's not a matter of whether you believe in conspiracy theories, but a matter of which theory you believe."


Understandable paranoia

To blindly believe the U.S. government at times like these is to ignore history and dismiss warnings from people in positions to know how power is really wielded in this country.

Even before President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned us in 1961 about the secretive power of "the military-industrial complex," a significant segment of the public already understood the world in those terms, employing what groundbreaking historian Richard Hofstadter in 1952 dubbed the "paranoid style of political thought." He didn't necessarily mean it in a derogatory way. As the old joke goes, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Since the dawn of civilization, there have been people whose worldviews were formed by the fear of enemies, real or imagined. But it was the 20th century that ushered in conspiracy theories as an important form of political communication, used by people to understand an increasingly complex world and by governments to manipulate their citizens.

It has little to do with ideology. Both Stalinist Russia and Nazi Germany effectively used conspiracy theories to maintain their power. In the United States, the paranoid style of political thought was most pervasive among conservatives, starting with the Russian Revolution, but it spread across the political spectrum after U.S. excesses in the cold war came to light.

Suddenly, it seemed crazy not to be paranoid, as people were targeted by a series of terrifying plots by mysterious forces: the assassinations of the Kennedy brothers, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's COINTELPRO, CIA-backed revolutions, medical and nuclear tests conducted on unknowing citizens, the rise of deceptive advertising and public relations campaigns, the recently declassified Operation Northwoods plan for the CIA to stage the downing of a commercial airliner as a pretext for invading Cuba, the Pentagon Papers, Watergate, Iran-Contra.

The Muslim world was also given good reason to be paranoid about covert U.S. influence as it watched the CIA help install the Shah of Iran and the Saudi royal family before propping up and then taking down Saddam Hussein in Iraq. In fact, many Muslims saw the first Gulf War as nothing but a pretext for building U.S. military bases in the region, which al-Qaeda cites as the reason for its terrorist attacks.

Under President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, the paranoid style of political thought has become the dominant U.S. worldview, animating the administration's foreign policy, its domestic suspension of civil liberties (and even its views on Social Security), and the themes and language of the president's speeches – which are almost always based on the perception of threats to the American way of life.

Just consider this analysis from Hofstadter, which could today be applied equally to bin Laden, Bush, and the 9/11 truth movement writers: "A feeling of persecution is central to the paranoid style, but whereas the clinically paranoid person perceives a world hostile and conspiratorial against him or herself, the spokesperson for the paranoid style finds it directed against a nation, a culture, a way of life whose fate affects not himself alone but millions of others," Hofstadter wrote in his 1965 essay "The Paranoid Style in American Politics." "His sense that his political passions are unselfish and patriotic, in fact, goes far to intensify his feeling of righteousness and his moral indignation."

"It now becomes clear why the Bush Administration has been vigorously opposing congressional hearings," Rep. Cynthia McKinney, the only member of Congress who has consistently challenged the White House over 9/11, wrote on Truthout.org in May 2002. "The Bush Administration has been engaged in a conspiracy of silence. If committed and patriotic people had not been pushing for disclosure today's revelations would have been hidden by the White House."

Until then, Bush had opposed the creation of an independent commission to look into 9/11, even though such commissions have been formed immediately after every major U.S. tragedy, such as Pearl Harbor and JFK's assassination. He finally bowed to political pressure from the victims' families to allow the creation of a supposedly independent 9/11 Commission.

But who did Bush name to head the commission? Henry Kissinger, the man who oversaw more dastardly covert operations designed to further U.S. realpolitik interests than any person alive, someone who can't even travel to many foreign countries because he's sought as a material witness for so many ongoing war-crimes prosecutions. If you're looking for someone to cover up your official misdeeds, Kissinger is the man. Unfortunately for Bush, Kissinger refused to disclose his client lists – something required under federal conflict of interests laws – so he didn't get the job.

Instead, Republican Thomas Kean was picked to head the commission, and for executive director, he chose one of Bush's own staffers, Phillip Zelikow, a neoconservative hawk who had cowritten a book with then-national security advisor Condoleezza Rice – a key figure in the intelligence breakdown – who has since been promoted to secretary of state. Oh yeah, and she just recently hired Zelikow as a member of her staff.

Zelikow and Kean were also nice enough to let Bush and Cheney – both of whom 9/11 activists accuse of culpability in the attacks – testify together, in private, and without being placed under oath. And even after all that, the administration used its executive authority to classify whole sections of both the commission and congressional reports, most notably the section on Saudi Arabia, where bin Laden and 15 of the 19 alleged hijackers are from.

Despite consistent denials that the administration could have foreseen the attack, the New York Times recently reported on a classified section of The 9/11 Commission Report from the spring of 2001 in which the Federal Aviation Administration warned airports that if "the intent of the hijacker is not to exchange hostages for prisoners, but to commit suicide in a spectacular explosion, a domestic hijacking would probably be preferable" to a flight from overseas.

And the report that was released is riddled with contradictions, conclusions unsupported by the facts, apologias for gross incompetence, and the omission of any facts that don't neatly fit with the official theory. It was, as a Harper's Magazine cover story labeled it, a "whitewash" that "defrauds the nation."

"Everywhere you probe, you find a hole, and the more you probe the hole, the more other problems come up," Paul told me, later adding, "Internal explosives must have brought down the Twin Towers."

9/11 and the Public's Right to Know

But, as the article notes lower down, not one single 9/11 family has opposed releasing the tapes.

Indeed, were it not for the families, we'd still know next to nothing about what really happened. The much-praised 9/11 Commission -- which was far from perfect but at least a start -- only came about because of pressure from the families. And although the government has still not released a transcript from the Flight 93 cockpit voice recorder to the public -- as was done in every other major U.S. aviation accident in modern times -- at least it allowed willing family members to hear the tape...only after howls of protest from those who lost loved ones.

We can think of nothing good that comes from such excessive 9/11 secrecy. Instead, the stench of a cover-up has allowed some of the worst conspiracy theories to fester on the Web, impossible to swat away without what should be the readily available facts.

What's missing from the public record? Tapes that might show Flight 77 crashing into the Pentagon on 9/11. A better explanation of what really happened to the voice and data records from Flight 77 and the two WTC jetliners. A better accounting of why NORAD didn't respond properly to the attacks, and what the heck Donald Rumsfeld was doing during all this time, besides scheming to attack Saddam Hussein.

That's just a start.

This fall, the governmemt is supposed to finally try Zacarias Moussaoui, wrongly labelled the 20th hijacker, in a court of law. The Moussaoui case has been one of the lamer excuses the government has used to withhold records that have nothing to do with the criminal case. The trial is a chance for the government to finally add to the public record.

Some Americans and people around the world are wondering more about the 9/11 attacks. Questions are being asked and frightening allegations are being made.

“The 9/11 Truth Movement” is a phrase being used to describe a wide range of people and organizations who are asking these questions and digging up information that appears on the surface to be quite serious if true.

Americans and the international community will certainly continue to wonder about these issues and be curious as to if there is any truth to them. The questions do not seem to be going away.

Below are a few of the areas being discussed regarding the 9/11 attacks:

- Financial investments immediately before the 9/11.

- Involvement of intelligence agencies from several countries.

- Warnings not to fly around the time frame 9/11, or not to be in the Twin Towers.

- Something that interfered with the Air Force’s ability to scramble fighter jets such as an air defense "drill" that confused the situation and obscured the nature of the events unfolding on 9/11.

- The airliner that went down in Pennsylvania was actually shot down.

- The Pentagon was actually hit by a missile or drone.

- Certain people and countries wanted the U.S. to suffer a traumatic terror attack.

- Certain people wanted the U.S. to invade Iraq and realized a Pearl Harbor-like event would be needed to persuade the American people to go along with an invasion.

Rumsfeld Meets Saddam: Transcript of Conversation

The Egyptian Magazine published the transcript of an alleged meeting in prison between Saddam Hussein and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

The Egyptian magazine al-Usbu', May 2, 2005, published the text of a conversation between Saddam Hussein and US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, which is said to have taken place on Rumsfeld's trip to Baghdad in late April. Rumsfeld, according to the al Usbu' report, visited Saddam Hussein in prison. Al-Usbu' reports that "informed political sources had disclosed the details of the meeting," of which we provide the transcript, translated from the Arabic.

The Pentagon in an official statement has denied the Rumsfeld-Hussein meeting:

"The Al Quds news report out of London that Secretary Rumsfeld recently met with Saddam Hussein is not only false but the allegation that he negotiated with Saddam is absolutely ludicrous, "

Al-Usbu' reports that the meeting took place after an escalation of Iraqi Resistance attacks against US occupation forces and their allies and stooges in Iraq. The sources indicated that the US had lost more than 1,600 men killed and wounded in the last three months, only a fraction of which they officially admitted.

The available information indicates that US President George W. Bush held a meeting with his staff in which they discussed ways to stop the Resistance violence in Iraq. In order to save us lives and stop the continued deterioration of relations between the US and its allies and other countries that sent forces to occupied Iraq. The US leadership arrived at a decision to offer to release the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and take him to his preferred place of exile outside Iraq in return for his appearing on television to demand that the Iraqi Resistance halt its armed operations and form a political party to take part in the political process set up by the US occupation forces in Iraq.

Bush entrusted his Secretary of State, Donald Rumsfeld, with the task of going to Iraq immediately to urge the quick formation of a new Iraqi puppet "government" and to meet with the Iraqi "leaders" who have emerged from the 30 January "election" results held under the threat of US weapons in occupied Iraq. At the same time, however, Rumsfeld was to meet with Iraqi President Saddam Hussein in his American prison near Saddam International Airport west of Baghdad.

The Saddam Hussein-Rumsfeld meeting reportedly lasted nearly an hour and took place in the presence of the commander of US occupation forces in Iraq.

Rumsfeld followed up on his meeting by sending a report to President Bush in which he enclosed minutes of his meeting with the Iraqi President and offered outlines for how the US should deal with future developments in Iraq. He is said to have stressed the need for pursuing various ways to hold political dialogue with the Resistance and with Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

In his report,al-Usbu' said, Rumsfeld emphasized that the situation in Iraq was increasingly dangerous. He said that the Arab Resistance looked like an organized army in the making and that it was training well and had been provided with important support in weapons and other material back up. Rumsfeld said that the number of Resistance fighters in Iraq had now reached 400,000 active fighters and that around them were more than five million people providing the Resistance with support.

Rumsfeld said that what took place in al-Fallujah had a negative impact on the security situation and that the Resistnace had succeeded in reaping the fruits of the "war on terror" being waged by the united states to use them for its benefit. He said that Iraqi youths were now vying with one another in volunteering to fight in the ranks of the Resistance.

Rumsfeld confirmed that the names of many of the Resistance organizations that declare themselves here and there are nothing but fronts for organizations of the Arab Baath Party under the leadership currently of Izzat Ibrahim ad-Duri, the Vice President of Iraq.

Rumsfeld expressed the expectation that the situation would become much more difficult in the coming period since the pace of armed operations against the US forces had greatly accelerated, and now stands at more than 200 attacks every day, making dozens of casualties in the "coalition" and puppet "national guard" ranks likely.

Rumsfeld said that he had reviewed numerous American and Iraqi reports that reveal a deterioration in the security situation in Iraq and a fall in the morale level of the troops as casualties and material losses increase.

Rumsfeld indicated that there have also been serious material losses in US ranks, and that the Americans are now loosing an average of at least 30 military vehicles every week, something that is continually depleting American power.

Rumsfeld also disclosed that the Resistance had just recently seized stockpiles of advanced American weaponry including artillery and rocket launchers as well as anti-aircraft launchers and that the US command expressed the fear that these arms would soon have their effect in escalating the movements of violence and Resistance operations.

At the end of his report, al-Usbu' reports, Rumsfeld urged the continuation of the dialogue with Saddam Hussein and his supporters until they can arrive at a formula for bringing about a temporary truce to facilitate a discussion of both sides' proposals.

Al-Usbu' obtained the minutes of the conversation between Saddam Hussein and Donald Rumsfeld from a reliable American source.

AT the beginning of the meeting President Saddam appeared extremely calm, perhaps he was surprised that his visitor was Rumsfeld, but he did not show any nervous tension. Rumsfeld began the discussion:



Rumsfeld: I have come to meet you to talk with out about the situation in Iraq. We have been in communication with some of your supporters inside and outside Iraq and they advised us to listen to you.

Saddam Hussein: And what is it that you want? Your forces have occupied the territory of noble Iraq; you brought down the ruling regime without any legal basis; you attacked the sovereignty of an independent, free, sovereign country; and you committed crimes that history will record astestimony against your bloodstained civilization. So what more do you want after all that?

Rumsfeld: (trying to conceal his anger): there no call for going into the past. I've come specially to present you a clear and specific offer and I want to hear from you a clear and specific answer.

Saddam Hussein (mockingly): I suppose you've come to apologize and return authority to the Iraqis.

Rumsfeld: We have nothing to apologize for. You were a danger to your neighbors. You were trying to acquire weapons of mass destruction, and you practiced dictatorship over your people. So it was natural for us to extend our hands to help the people of Iraq to rid themselves ofthe perils they faced for more than thirty years.

Saddam Hussein: I know that you're ignorant of history and I know that your president is no less ignorant. But it seems that you've been telling lies for so long that you have come to believe them yourselves. If you mean by "our neighbors" the Zionist Entity, then, yes, we really were posing a danger to it and preparing to liberate our plundered land in Palestine. This is the trust of every Arab person, not just Iraqis, for that land is Arab and its people are Arab and the Zionists have done nothing but occupy the land. They came to us from every corner of the world with your help and that of the old colonial powers. But if you mean Kuwait, I would like to ask you: Have you withdrawn from Kuwait or not?

Rumsfeld: These are security issues. Besides, between us and Kuwait and the other Gulf States there are security agreements. We came in based on their request to defend them from your threats.

Saddam Hussein: Isn't it funny to entrust the wolf to guard the sheep? The Kuwaiti people are an Arab people, and Kuwait is Iraqi territory. So I would ask you to go and read up on history well, except that I am sure that you will never be able to grasp it.

Rumsfeld: Enough of this chatter. I am offering you . . .

Saddam Hussein (cuts him off): Before you offer me your rotten goods, I want to ask you: did you find any weapons of mass destruction or not?

Rumsfeld (confused): we haven't found any so far. But we definitely will find them one day. Do you deny that you had the intention of making a nuclear bomb?

Saddam Hussein: We had no weapons of mass destruction since 1991. We were truthful when we spoke to the International Inspection Team and we were truthful in our letters toKofi Annan. And you knew those facts, but you were looking for any false excuse to occupy Iraq and overthrow the legal authorities.

Rumsfeld: The Iraqis greeted us happily and welcomed us and the reason was the bloody practices of your regime for all the years in which you ruled Iraq.

Saddam Hussein: I ask you, Mr. Rumsfeld . . . Enough lying. You are the ones who opened up cascades of blood on the land of Iraq. You plotted against us and you came with some traitors to take over rule of the great land of Iraq.

Rumsfeld: The ones you call traitors were chosen as their leaders by the Iraqi people by democratic means and clean elections, such as never took place while you ruled the country.

Saddam Hussein: I knew that you came with a band of traitors with[Jalal] at-Talibaniin their front ranks (laughs mockingly). Great Iraq being ruled by at-Talibani andal-Ja'fari, isn't that ridiculous? And what kind of elections are you talking about. Is it possible to hold free elections, as you call them, when our country is occupied? Mr. Rumsfeld, we have learned from history that occupiers come only with their lackeys and agents, then you want after all that to convince me that the people of Iraq are enjoying freedom and democracy? You must really be delirious.

Rumsfeld (trying very hard to control his anger): You are in isolation and don't know the facts of what is going on outside. The Iraqi people have been freed from your oppression. If they saw you or any of you men in the street, they would destroy you!!

Saddam Hussein: And I bet you that if you were able to announce where you are in Iraq, if the Iraqi Resistance learned where you were, you wouldn't be able to get out alive. I want to pass on some advice that you must convey to your stupid president: you must tell him to save what remains of his troops. Death is stalking them in every place and historywill not forgive him.

Rumsfeld: I came to talk with you about the 'terrorist' operations that your men are inciting and carrying out. Your men recently carried out a foul attack against Abu Ghurayb prison where more than 50 Americans were killed or wounded, and they killed a number of those in custody on various charges as well. Your men are getting help from terrorists from every corner of the world and they are threatening the democratic experiment in Iraq.

Saddam Hussein: What exactly is it that you want?

Rumsfeld: I'm making you one offer and that is that you will be released and can chose for yourself a place of exile freely, in any country you like, on condition that you go on television and issue a condemnation of terrorism and order your men to stop these acts.

Saddam Hussein: Have you obtained the agreement of your president to this offer?

Rumsfeld: Yes, this offer has been agreed on in a meeting in which the President, Vice President, Secretary of State, and Chief of Intelligence took part. AndI have been authorized to inform you of this offer.

Saddam Hussein: It's a trifling offer.

Rumsfeld (with a sigh): We're also ready to bring elements close to you into the government.

Saddam Hussein: And what else?

Rumsfeld: You will be given generous financial assistance and security protection for you and your family in the country of your choice.

Saddam Hussein: Do you want to hear my conditions?

Rumsfeld: I would love to.

Saddam Hussein (with an air of superciliousness and superiority) I want first from you that you set a time table for your withdrawal from Iraq and that your government commit itself to it before the world and that you begin the withdrawal immediately.

Secondly, I ask you to release immediately all the Iraqi and Arab prisoners in the prisons you have set up or in which you have taken the freedom of tens of thousands of honorable people of Iraq. Thirdly, I ask from you to pledge to grant full compensation for the material losses that afflicted the Iraqi people as a result of your aggression against our country since the Mother of Battles in 1991 and until today. And I accept the assistance of an Arab and International Committee in estimating the extent of those losses.

Fourth, I ask that you return the money that you and your men plundered from the treasuries of Iraq, and its oil, in particular that criminal[L. Paul] Bremerand his gang of traitors and renegades.

Fifth, the return of the artifacts that you stole and gave to the archaeological artifact mafia. These are treasures that are beyond all the monetary value in the world, because they carry the history of Iraq and its civilization. It's true that you don't have any civilization or history and that the lifespan of your country is no more than a few hundred years, but all that must not serve to justify your theft and your hatred for the civilization of Iraq and the wealth of Iraq.

And sixth, you must hand over the weapons of mass destruction if you have found any and return to us the lives of all the martyrs whose lives you took and to return the honor of the noble women of Iraq whom you dishonored.

Rumsfeld: Is this some kind of joke?

Saddam Hussein: No! This is the bitter reality. . . which you know, Mr. Rumsfeld. You have committed the greatest crime in history against a peaceful Arab country. We met together in the 1980s. Do you remember your offers?

Rumsfeld: Enough of the past. We are reassessing our positions towards you and towards a number of powers that have been hostile to us in the past. We have decided to hold dialogue with moderate Islamicists and we have no objection to their coming to power through the ballot box. More important than that we have decided to open channels for dialogue with 'terrorist' organizations like Hamas, the Islamic Jihad, and Hizbollah, which is pro-Iranian, and also with other fundamentalist organizations in the whole world. We even have a plan for contacting the Taliban movement in Afghanistan to study the possibility of their participation in power, in exchange for their giving up arms.

Saddam Hussein: So you have begun to rethink your erroneous course?

Rumsfeld: It is a natural development of events. We are striving to spread democracy in all countries and movements subject to tyranny.

Saddam Hussein: May you prosper if you are truthful. I know your real aim, though. If you were really truthful, then you and your allies must begin immediately by withdrawing from Iraq. And you would also have to depart from your position of support for 'Israel'. But I know that your president is stubborn and arrogant and is not telling the truth.

Rumsfeld: He is a democratically elected president, not a bloody ruler like you.

Saddam Hussein: Terror is your product and lying is your method.

Rumsfeld: This offer is a historic opportunity for you. You will be released and we will consult with you in everything related to the running of Iraq. If you refuse this offer, the opportunity will not be fulfilled.

Saddam Hussein: I am not looking for opportunities. I am not looking for a way to save my neck from the gallows that you have set up for all of Iraq. If I wanted that I would have accepted the Russian offer and saved my sons and grandson from martyrdom. I don't know what has become ofmy family and my daughters and grandchildren. But believe me I am concerned with every Iraqi citizen and the future of great Iraq more than I am concerned with myself and my family.

Through your men, you previously made an offer that if I declare that weapons of mass destruction were smuggled to Syria, you said that in return you would release me. I rejected that then and I reject it again now.

Rumsfeld: I don't want a rejection from you. I want you to think about it. We are continuing our reassessment of our stances at the present time. We want to stop the bloodshed on both sides. And therefore we have made this offer out of the logic of power and not the logic of weakness.

We asked Jalal at-Talibani to make a statement denying any intention of executing you as a sign of good intentions on our part. We are ready to reassess our whole position on the political arrangement in Iraq as a whole and to discuss this matter with you and with your men.

Saddam Hussein: Are you ready to withdraw or not?

Rumsfeld: We can possibly discuss redeployment. Our forces have prepared bases for a long stay. We can possibly withdraw from streets and cities, but we will remain in the bases for some time.

Saddam Hussein: then you want a new stooge to add to that line of stooges. No Mr. Rumsfeld. Don't forget that you are talking with Saddam Hussein the President of the Republic of Iraq.

Rumsfeld: But you lost power.

Saddam Hussein: I have nothing left but honor and honor cannot be bought and sold.

Rumsfeld: But life is priceless.

Saddam Hussein: There is no value to life without honor. You robbed Iraq of its honor when you trampled on its land and we will regain our honor whether Saddam Hussein remains or dies a martyr.

Rumsfeld: Your supporters with whom we have been discussing told us that you were the first and last decision maker. Were they expecting this reaction from you?

Saddam Hussein: Definitely, they know that Saddam Hussein cannot back away at the expense of his homeland and honor.

Rumsfeld: History will hold you responsible for the blood that is being shed in Iraq.

Saddam Hussein: Rather history will judge you for your crimes. I warned you before, saying that you would commit suicide on the walls of Baghdad. And here you are paying the price. I want you to go to London and read the records of the British Foreign Office and learn something aboutthe struggle of the Iraqi people against your British friends who are now repeating their mistakes and fighting with you. The Iraqi people are a stubborn people who do not fear death. The Resistance is stronger than you imagine. So I promise you that you will have even more.
