Two producers, two generations, two souls and two kinds of creation processes, yet a project with one strong heart. The unique intergenerational duo Sherwood & Pinch is without any doubt one of the freshest projects in today’s electronic music. Its context perfectly fulfills the idea of ‚roots&future‘ and is actually highly capable of shifting it into far-away new dimensions. Connection between Adrian Sherwood and Rob Ellis aka Pinch seems like completely natural act of coexistence resulting in a breathtaking ancient-futuristic voyage.

Adrian Sherwood, UK dub legend, producer and head of a record label, has been around since the late seventies to connect the pulsing Jamaican reggae and dub culture with the current sounds of industrial, postpunk, new wave (and later on jungle, trip-hop, dubstep or even pop), which soon resulted in the birth of the fabulous On-U Sound Records label that keeps on pushing the limits of musical creativity under the motto „Disturbing the Comfortable / Comforting the Disturbed“. Adrian’s production and remix credits and On-U Sound’s artist portfolio includes long list of names such as Lee Scratch Perry, Afrika Bambaata, Primal Scream, Ministry, Dennis Bovell, Bim Sherman, Cabaret Voltaire, African Head Charge, Mark Stewart & The Maffia, Tackhead, Einstürzende Neubauten, Sinead O’Connor, Coldcut, Roots Manuva, Congo Natty, Creation Rebel, etc. In the past 15 years time he‘s also releasing his significant solo albums.

Rob Ellis aka Pinch, producer, head of a record label, dj, don of the Bristol dubstep community, is (for a long time now) one of the most forward-thinking figures of the scene. He is evolving his focus into the waters of techno, garage and widely bass music and his Tectonic Recordings label is releasing contemporary top notch producers such as Mumdance, Logos, Phon.O, Ipman, Roska, but also Benga, Joker, Distance or even the mighty Scientist. Pinch himself grew up in the times of expansion of jungle, drum’n’bass, trip-hop and dubstep and also under heavy influence of 80’s labels such as above mentioned On-U Sound. He is well known for his excellent solo releases and also the cooperations with matadors like Shackleton, Mumdance and ofcourse Adrian Sherwood.

The duo’s second album Man vs. Sofa is out on On-U Sound/Tectonic (sort of a fraternal compromise) and the first single contains the legendary Lee Scratch Perry on the vocals.
