    máte zajímavou fotografii či video z vesmíru? sem s nimi! Můžou být i vesmírná posunovadla a přibližovadla. Zkrátka všemožné i nemožné pro nás vesmírné nadšence :)

    Nějaký obecný pravidla:
    1) pište k fotkám popisky, co na nich je. Případně i link na další obrázky/povídání/etc. (u vesmirných objektů stačí katalogové číslo).
    2) pokud nevíte, co je na obrázku, nedá se nic dělat. Pokud víte, co je na obrázku v něčím nepopsaném obrázku, neváhejte okomentovat.
    3) pokud možno omezte chat na diskuzi kolem fotografií.
    4) kupte si pořádnou konektivitu, tady se to bude hemžit velkoformátem (čím víc, tím líp! ;-)
    5) užijte si to

    No, not that much at least. It gathers some isotopes from the solar wind that are not stable and decay, but the effect is almost impossible to be noticed if you don't gather samples directly in space. The same with meteorites. The radiation in space is different to radiation from nuclear reactors or nuclear bombs, you can't directly compare them without going deep into the details of nuclear physics.

    When columbia crashed the bigger danger had been the rocket propellants used inside the Space Shuttle itself. While the big orange tank contains only hydrogen and oxygen, the Shuttle uses so-called storable propellants that remain liquid at room temperature. These are Hydrazine, Monomethylhydrazine (MMH) and Dinitrogentetroxide (N2O4). While being pretty good for using them for attitude control and maneuvering engines, the chemicals are very nasty for humans: They are all toxic even in low densities, and Dinitrogentetroxide has the ability to ignite all organic matter (All molecules that contain carbon) - that is why MMH and N2O4 are good for all kinds of engines that are ignited and stopped often, N2O4 and MMH ignite already on contact and need no igniter. Hydrazine is a so-called monopropellant, that easily decomposes into steam by contact with a catalyst. It is used as low-performance rocket fuel (MMH+N2O4 is three times more powerful), or inside the Space Shuttle, for driving the turbopumps that power the hydraulics of the Space Shuttle. Hydrazine has a strong fish-odor which is a warning sign if you work with satellites and a good reason to run out of the assembly building and get a lot of fresh air.

    Because of that chemicals, there is always a huge fan in the vehicle convoy when a Space Shuttle lands, to blow away any toxic vapors.

    VIRGO: zřejmě kvůli tomuto tvému postu se mi o tom dnes zdálo :) bydlel jsem na Marsu a koukali jsme dalekohledem na Zemi a ačkoli to byl sen, byl to fenomenální pocit :)

    Ono by úplně stačilo, kdyby lidské smysly nebyly omezeny jen na pár uzounkých výřezů z celého spektra... A větší citlivost by taky dost pomohla :).
