NECROMAN: a nebo ze by ISON prezil?

Procházím fotoarchív a nemůžu se na tuto fotku vynadívat. Poslední nejdelší úplné zatmění Slunce v tomto století z r. 2009.
Na některých místech zakryl měsíční kotouč Slunce až na necelých sedm minut! Další srovnatelné úplné zatmění nastane
podle České astronomické společnosti (ČAS) až v srpnu 2027 v Egyptě, kde potrvá 6 minut a 23 sekund.
Bude to druhé nejdelší totální zastínění Slunce v tomto století.

This might look like the start of a scene from Gravity, but you're actually looking at three nanosatellites—known as Cubesats—which have just been released in space.

They were deployed from a Small Satellite Orbital Deployer attached to the Kibo laboratory’s robotic arm aboard the ISS. CubeSats are cute little things: they have a volume of exactly one liter, and weigh no more than 1.33 kilograms. They use pretty standard kit tied together to perform a variety of activities—from communications to weather measurement. These Cubesats were deployed by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.

Ancient Stars at Milky Way's Center

A cavalcade of ancient stars circling the center of the Milky Way, the globular cluster Messier 15 was captured by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope in a picture released November 14.

More than 100,000 stars gather in the cluster, which lies some 35,000 light-years away in the constellation Pegasus. Astronomers suspect a large black hole hides at the center of the star cluster.

The active galaxy NGC 1275 lies at the center of the cluster of galaxies known as the Perseus Cluster.
By combining multi-wavelength images into a single composite, the dynamics of the galaxy are more easily
visible. In this composite image, X-rays from Chandra are shown in violet and reveal the presence of a
black hole at the center of NGC 1275. Optical data from Hubble is depicted in red, green, and blue,
and radio emission in pink traces the jets generated from the central black hole.
