    Včera byly Perseidy naprosto parádní. Po západu Měsíce to lítalo fakt skoro dešťově. Minimálně tři za minutu v rozmezí jasností -2m do 4m.

    Direct imaging discovery of a Jovian exoplanet within a triple-star system | Science

    Direct imaging allows for the detection and characterization of exoplanets via their thermal emission. We report the discovery via imaging of a young Jovian planet
    in a triple-star system and characterize its atmospheric properties through near-infrared spectroscopy. The semimajor axis of the planet is closer relative to that
    of its hierarchical triple-star system than for any known exoplanet within a stellar binary or triple, making HD 131399 dynamically unlike any other known system.
    The location of HD 131399Ab on a wide orbit in a triple system demonstrates that massive planets may be found on long and possibly unstable orbits in multistar
    systems. HD 131399Ab is one of the lowest mass (4 ± 1 Jupiter masses) and coldest (850 ± 50 kelvin) exoplanets to have been directly imaged.

    In a new study to be published in the Astrophysical Journal on August 12th, astronomers have accurately measured
    the light hitting the Earth from outside our galaxy over a very broad wavelength range.
    The research looked at photons whose wavelengths vary from a fraction of a micron (damaging) to millimetres (harmless).
    But radiation from outside the galaxy constitutes only ten trillionths of your suntan, so there is no immediate need for alarm.

    There are several theories which attempt to explain why our perception of time speeds up as we get older. One idea is a gradual alteration of our internal
    biological clocks. The slowing of our metabolism as we get older matches the slowing of our heartbeat and our breathing. Children’s biological pacemakers beat
    more quickly, meaning that they experience more biological markers (heartbeats, breaths) in a fixed period of time, making it feel like more time has passed.

    Another theory suggests that the passage of time we perceive is related to the amount of new perceptual information we absorb. With lots of new stimuli our
    brains take longer to process the information so that the period of time feels longer. This would help to explain the “slow motion perception” often reported
    in the moments before an accident. The unfamiliar circumstances mean there is so much new information to take in.

    Tak jsem dorazil domů, a nevyzute pelášil na terasu. Po hodině posun - už je to na hysterický pláč... :((

    A do toho mi lidi nadšeně píšou, jaké mají divadlo. Grrrrrrrrrr...

    a byl to pohled k pláči. Uvidíme za pár hodin...

    Tak jsem se byl na chvíli mrknout na oblohu, než půjdu spát a lítá to pěkně. Až zapadne po půlnoci Měsíc, tak to bude parádní, škoda, že musím ráno vstávat.
    Ale měl jsem štěstí na jeden velký, který v maximu byl jasnější než všecky hvězdy a pár sekund po tom bylo krásně vidět, jak dohasínal a rudnul.
    Přeju všem krásné pozorování, jasnou oblohu a Měsíc pod obzorem ;)

    The OSIRIS-REx Laser Altimeter, or OLA, is provided by the Canadian Space Agency and will be used
    to create three-dimensional global topographic maps of Bennu and local maps of candidate sample sites.

    “OLA will measure the asteroid’s topography and shape in a detail that is unprecedented compared to other
    asteroid missions," said Michael Daly, OLA instrument scientist at York University in Toronto, Canada.
    "This 3-D shape will be the foundational dataset for the other instruments.”
