On May 29, the Beijing News reporter learned from the plaintiff's lawyer Wang Youyin that 10 Chinese car owners took Tesla to court on the grounds of false propaganda and consumer fraud, with a total amount of more than 3.95 million yuan. Tesla has not responded to the case.
Wang Youyin, a lawyer representing the plaintiff and the founder of Beijing Shengyun Law Firm, told the Beijing News that the two sides in the trial focused on whether Tesla's FSD function had reached its advertised "full self-driving ability" to prove the debate. The plaintiff argued that the defendant knew that the "full automatic driving" function advertised by it was not approved by the Chinese regulatory authorities, could not achieve the core functions of its propaganda, concealed the defects of hardware technology, carried out misleading publicity, and induced the plaintiff to purchase, and its behavior met the requirements of fraud.
Wang's lawyer said that during the trial, the defendant Tesla claimed that the FSD function "has now been achieved" or "partially realized", and that the follow-up function is still in development.
