An advocacy coalition known as the Investigate DOGE campaign is urging congressional lawmakers and midterm candidates to commit to formal investigations into the Department of Government Efficiency, the initiative spearheaded by Elon Musk.
The organization announced it is asking candidates to sign a public pledge supporting congressional hearings and subpoenas regarding DOGE’s administrative decisions, agency reviews, and restructuring efforts across the federal government.
Organizers claim that DOGE’s cutbacks and operational reviews led to delays in federal wildfire prevention funding, staffing reductions across multiple agencies, and significant structural changes within the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The coalition also cited concerns over federal contracts awarded to firms connected to DOGE personnel, as well as questions regarding agency oversight and data handling protocols.
“Elon Musk and his DOGE operatives ran roughshod over our government, gutted safety nets, and created real-world disasters that impacted hundreds of thousands of lives,” said Nancy Treviño, lead organizer with the Investigate DOGE campaign. “Now, former insiders are writing memoirs trying to sanitize a wrecking-ball campaign that left mass destruction in its wake. Voters deserve to know today where every Member of Congress and candidate on the ballot stands. We need lawmakers who will commit to issuing subpoenas and launching immediate investigations into Musk’s actions before the midterm elections occur.”
