The particular setup for this was sound activated. The lens was destroyed (worth it of course) but the camera survived this one despite being severed from its ratchet straps and thrown to the ground, and the sound device used for this one disconnected from the camera and thrown about 200 feet backwards into the pad perimeter fence (still worked!). All settings are preset manually. No one is allowed closer than several miles from a launch.

The girl in the picture is Katie Kirkpatrick, she is 21 and she has terminal cancer. The picture was taken shortly before her wedding ceremony, held on January 11, 2005 in the US.
In spite of all the pain, organ failures, and morphine shots, Katie is going along with her wedding and took care of every detail. The dress had to be adjusted a few times due to her constant weight loss

Katie died five days after her wedding day.

Kosmonauti na palubě Mezinárodní kosmické stanice ISS měli neobvyklou podívanou. Při přeletu nad asijskou oblastí zhlédli výbuch sopky poblíž Kurilských ostrovů. Sopka Sarychev vybuchla 12. června 2009 a díky pohotovým kosmonautům se na tento kosmický pohled můžeme podívat také. Snímek je zajímavý hned z několika důvodů. Pohled z této perspektivy je velmi vzácný a odhaluje mnoho o výbuchu samotném. Povšimněte si roztažených mračen kolem vulkanického sloupu prachu a plynu. Podle vědců to bylo způsobeno buď zpětnými proudy kolem stoupajícího materiálu, anebo rázovou vlnou po výbuchu. Samotný pilot je složen ze dvou výrazných struktur. Hnědá oblast je především prach, jak lze vcelku dobře rozpoznat. Od něj je však poměrně zřetelně oddělen oblak horké vodní páry, který dělá tento obrázek tak zajímavým. Fotografie byly pořízeny posádkou Expedition 20 na ISS pomocí fotoaparátu Nikon D2XS opatřeného objektivem s ohniskem 400 mm.

A maze starts as nothing more than a large field of corn. The design is created using a computer, then translated into GPS coordinates by fitting it into a field whose outline coordinates were previously captured on foot. Once the field coordinates are reconciled with the map design the data is used in one of two ways; the routes can be made by tilling under a path when the corn is very young, or more commonly it is cut lawn-mower-style when the corn is anywhere from knee-high to full grown. This corn-meets-satellite hack makes for a whole lot of fun!
