Prior to 1920, it was possible to send children through the US Postal service. However, there were certain conditions that needed to be met. Firstly, the children had to weigh less than 50 pounds, and stamps were attached to their clothing as a form of payment. Surprisingly, it was often more cost-effective for individuals to send their children via mail rather than opting for train transportation. Interestingly, during the journey, the children would travel on a train, specifically in the mail car, where they were supervised and provided with nourishment by mail clerks. One remarkable example of this unconventional practice involved a distance of over 700 miles, from Florida to Virginia, covered with a mere 15 cents worth of stamps.

A baby cage was a bed in a wire cage suspended from city apartment windows. The "health cage", as it was initially called, was invented by Mrs. Robert C Lafferty to provide babies with fresh air and sunshine while living in crowded cities.

The usage of baby cages gained great popularity in London during the 1930s. The installation had been created for children who live in cities without gardens. These baby cages were given by neighbourhood communities, like the Chelsea Baby Club, to every member who didn't have a garden. At the beginning of WW2, the Battle of Britain led by the Luftwaffe ended the usage of baby cages in all London. But they appeared again from 1953.

Ultimately, the sale of baby cages progressively declined through the mid-1900s, possibly due to safety concerns and the rise of urban automobile traffic.

This is not a montage! This is a truly unique photo taken by Japanese photographer Keinichi Ohno titled "Gap". The bird stands at the edge of a body of water with a wall in the background, whose reflection on the water (perfectly aligned with the wall) creates a striking montage illusion.
