Minulý týden obdržel soud v Bruselu už třetí žalobu na Bushe a jeho zločinecký pakt. V souvislosti s agresí v Iráku jsou obžalováni tito mužové a jedna žena (sice vypadá jako žena, ale mluví a chová se jako chlap): George Bush, Colin Powell, Paul Wolfowitz, John Ashcroft, Condoleezza Rice a Tommy Franks. Současné byl obviněn i Tony Blair. Proti Bushovi, Rumsfeldovi, Ashcroftovi, Rice a Wolfowitzovi mají u belgického soudu navíc další žalobu ještě za Afghánistán. Rovněž Sharon je veden na seznamu zločinců.

Tato skutečnost je pro americko-izraelsko-britské sekerníky nesmírně trapná a hrozí dále prohloubit rozpory mezi Evropou a Amerikou. Rumsfeld varoval, že jenom myšlenka na obvinění nedotknutelných může mít pro Belgii nedozírné následky. Pro začátek přestala Amerika až do odvolání přispívat na nové velitelství NATO v Bruselu. Izrael odvolal svého velvyslance \"ke konzultacím\". Další sankce jsou na cestě.

Belgie se zalekla hrozivě staženého obočí páně Rumsfeldova a ještě více se zalekla zlověstného vrčení z Izraele. Okamžitě přijala výjimku ze zákona, kde se praví, že žádný Američan, Brit či Izraelec nemůže být souzen ze zločinu proti lidskosti, protože pochází ze země, kde se takové věci apriori nedějí. Pokud by občan takového státu přeci jen byl obviněn (nějakým trapným nedopatřením), Brusel předá obvinění příslušné vládě a ponechá jí na rozhodnutí, zda bude svého občana soudit a trestat.

Což se tedy v tomto případě stalo. Brusel předal obvinění na Američany do Washingtonu, Blairovo obvinění do Londýna a Sharonovo do Tel Avivu.

Navzdory belgické podělanosti a následnému žehlení k faux pas už došlo.

Ani sdělovací prostředky zemí, kterých se to týká, se nepřetrhly, aby o události referovaly na titulních stránkach svých novin.

Amerika je mezitím aktivní uzavíráním unilaterálních dohod o vzájemném nevydání válečných zločinů bruselskému soudu. Vybírá si k tomu země, které lze podplatit (bývalé lido-demo), nebo kde vládnou vojenské junty podporované penězi z Ameriky, nebo kde má Amerika dosazené své vazaly.

Minulý týden podepsala tuto dohodu s Ugandou. Je to už 63 stát, jejichž loutková vláda podlehla tlaku Washingtonu. Za to dostane od pánička odměnu: Celých 200 tisíc dolarů vojenské pomoci na nákup nových bumerangů.

Jak vidno, Amerika je rozhodnuta podminovat důvěryhodnost mezinárodního soudu a zdiskreditovat jej tak, aby jeho moc přestala platit v co nejvíce zemích světa i kdyby to mělo být formou špinavého partyzánského boje (úplatky, výhružky). Namísto mezinárodního práva, které krystalizovalo tolik let, hodlá nastolit americké právo soudce Lynche, kdy o tom, kdo je zločinec a kdo klaďas, bude rozhodováno výhradně ve Washingtonu.

Co se děje v Americe ?

V průběhu posledních padesáti let západní demokracie jsme si zvykli mít vlády různé; jejich přístup k problémům řízení státu byl občas dobrý, občas špatný. Nicméně existoval určitý status quo. Změny, byly-li nějaké, přicházely postupně. Existovaly výjimky. Především Reagan a Thatcherová, ale - viděno retrospektivně - i jejich programy demontáže systému sociálního státu byly mírné v porovnání s tím co se dnes děje ve Spojených státech pod vládou Bushe. Či přesněji řečeno pod vládou junty, která Bushovi, předepisuje co má dělat a říkat.

Je to bezesporu ta nejradikálnější vláda v moderní americké historii, taková, jejichž ideologie a akce jsou natolik vše prostupující a tak beze zbytku podporovány masovými sdělovacími prostředky, že společnost - zda se - zapomněla, co je normální.

George Bush je prvním nezvoleným prezidentem Spojených států, instalováný do [Ilustrační obrázek]funkce pravicovým Nejvyšším soudem způsobem, který připomíná justiční coup d\'etat. Je prvým, který aktivně podrývá jeden z pilířů americké demokracie: oddělení církve od státu. V každém vládním oddělení jsou nyní zavedeny denní modlitby a založeny skupiny pro studium Bible. Peníze ze státních fondů jsou vypláceny náboženským organizacím, které přebírají vzdělávací a sociální programy, obvykle spravované státem.

Bush je prvým prezidentem, který se - spíše než na ekumenického Boha - specificky odvolává na Ježíše Krista. Obklopil se evangelickými křesťany, včetně svého státního žalobce, který navštěvuje kostel a káže.

Bushova administrativa poprvé otevřeně deklaruje politiku unilaterální agrese, Pax Americana. Co se případných spojenců týče, toleruje jejich přítomnost (ať jde o Británii nebo Bulharsko), ale současně dává nepokrytě najevo, jak jsou nedůležití. Je administrativou, která nadřadila sama sebe nad mezinárodní zákony a postupně trhá a ničí všechny těžce dosažené a dlouho budované dohody. Je první administrativou, která otevřeně vyhlásila, že má právo na útočný, preventivní útok proti kterémukoliv státu světa na základě jakéhokoliv důvodu.

Je první administrativou od internace amerických Japonců ve druhé světové válce, která zavedla zákony proti určitému etniku. Bylo vydán zákon, že všichni mladí muslimové, kteří nemají občanství Států, se musí registrovat u příslušných úřadů a podrobit se výslechu. Stovky lidí byly bez soudu uvězněny a jsou zadržovány bez přístupu k právnímu poradci - porušení druhého pilíře americké demokracie: habeas corpus. Mnoho jich bylo odvedeno od svých rodin a deportováno na základě drobných imigračních přestupků; velká skupina prostě zmizela a co se s nimi stalo a kde jsou, není známo. A v Guantanamo Bay se budují - jak bylo oznámeno - popravčí komory. Zadržují tam déle než dva roky stovky vězňů různých národností, včetně třináctiletého chlapce, všechny bez obvinění, bez soudu a bez právní ochrany. Neoddiskutovatelné porušení Ženevských konvencí.

Podobně, jako za vlády Reagana, se tato administrativa přihlásila k otevřené pomoci bohatým a k ignoranci chudých. Podařilo se jí formou obrovských daňových úlev pro bohaté (zvláště ty, kteří vydělávají milion a více ročně) zvrátit přebytek ve státním rozpočtu z Clintonovy éry do masivního deficitu. (Na rozdíl od Reagana, který vždy prosazoval menší vládu, tato administrativa vytvořila největší novou vládní byrokracii v historii: Ministerstvo pro vnitřní bezpečnost.) Britské Financial Times, které lze sotva obvinit z levičáctví, kategorizovaly tuto ekonomickou politiku jako \"pomatence z ústavu pro choromyslné, kteří se zmocnili vlády\".

Ale na rozdíl od Reaganovy politiky, při které bohatli bohatí plošně, většina Bushovy kroků obohacuje pouze vybraná odvětví. Ta, která se nalézají v jeho celoživotním kruhu vnitřních přátel: průmysl naftařský, těžba nerostů a dřeva a stavební a farmaceutický průmysl.

V zemi, kde k nejdůležitějším sociálním změnám dochází na úrovní soudních rozhodnutí a nikoliv legislativou shora, Bushova administrativa obsazuje každičký možný stupeň komplikovaného justičního systému ultrapravicovými ideology. Tito lidé ochraňují korporace před soudními procesy v případě žalob jednotlivců nebo ekologických hnutí a snaží se omezit reprodukční práva ženy. Uvidíme, jak daleko protlačí svou antipatii k antikoncepci a k přerušení těhotenství. Už zakázali vzácně se vyskytující formu pozdní interrupce používanou pouze v případech, kdy je ohroženo zdraví matky nebo kdy je plod vážně deformován. Velká část peněz určených na boj proti AIDS v Africe je věnována tzv. \"abstinenčním programům\".

Ale nejdůležitější je, že se v Americe už necítíte jako v Americe. Vším prostupuje klíma militarismu a strachu, typické pro každý totalitní stát. Bush je prvým prezidentem Spojených států, který se natřásá ve vojenské uniformě, ačkoliv on sám zběhl od své jednotky před nástupem do vietnamské války - stejně tak se vyhnuli službě v armádě všichni jeho nejmilitantnější poradci. (Ani prezident Eisenhower, generál a válečný hrdina, nikdy na sebe nevzal uniformu po dobu svého prezidentství.)

Na letištích provinčních měst je nyní často slyšet hlášení neosobním hlasem jako z vědeckofantastických filmů: \"Ministerstvo pro vnitřní bezpečnost oznamuje, že úroveň teroristické pohotovosti je ... oranžový stupeň.\" Každých několik týdnů je vydáno varování, že hrozí další teroristický útok a občanům jsou doporučovány absurdní opatření, jako zalepit okna a dveře proti biologickým a chemickým útokům a hlásit každou podezřelou aktivitu svých sousedů.

Pentagon zavádí Program absolutní informovanosti (Total Information Awareness), který bude zaznamenávat všechny obyčejné aktivity obyčejných občanů (platby kreditními kartami, půjčování knih v knihovně, přihlášky do vzdělávacích kurzů apod.). Jelikož se lidé proti tomu bouří, změní se jméno na \"Program informovanosti o teroristických aktivitách\" (Terrorism Information Awareness) a pokračuje se vesele dále s jeho zaváděním. V databázích bezpečnostních služeb na letištích jsou už uloženy miliony jmen označených značkou potencionálního teroristy, včetně protiválečných aktivistů a pacifistů. Kritikové varují: \"Dávejte si pozor na to, co říkáte\" a na Internetu jsou uveřejňovány seznamy \"zrádců\".

Ale nejextremnější manifestací dnešní nové Ameriky a učebnicovým příkladem totalitárních technik je válka v Iráku.

Nejprve je pomocí do oči bijících lží vytvořen nepřítel a tyto lží jsou do nekonečna opakovány, dokud tomu národ neuvěří. V daném případě se tvrdilo, že existuje spojení mezi Irákem a útokem z 11. září, a to, že Irák disponuje zbraněmi hromadného ničení, které ohrožují svět.

Následovně portrétují masové sdělovací prostředky Osvobozovací válku způsobem \"naše hrdinná armáda\" proloženou naaranžovanými scénami na povzbuzení morálky: stržení Saddamovy sochy a \"hrdinné\" osvobození vojačky Lynchové, vše ve stylu sovětských filmů. Samozřejmě při tom zcela ignorují hrůzy a strašné utrpení a nikdy nenabídnou pohled na ztráty a devastaci, kterou válka působí.

Konečně, stejně jako v případě Afghánistánu, velmi málo se mluví o chaosu, který přišel po Velkém vítězství. Namísto toho se propagandistický stroj už orientuje na nového nepřítele. Tentokrát Írán.

Je nesmírně těžké hovořit o tom, co se děje v Americe, a vyhnout se přitom obvyklým přehánějícím klišé antiamerikanismu. Po mnoha dekádách ztratilo toto klišé své mínění, nyní konečně se stává pravdou.

Snad nejlépe je pouze vyjmenovat fakta, a já jsem se o některých zmínil. Jednoduše řečeno, toto je ta nejděsivější vláda Ameriky moderní doby, děsivá pro obě křídla politického spektra: levici a tradiční konzervativce. Tato junta, nestydatá ve svých imperialistických ambicích, zavádí Orwellovský status permanentní války. Demontuje, nebo se o pokouší o demontáž některých nejdůležitějších zásad americké demokracie. Vládne bez vládní opozice a operuje tak rychle a na tolika frontách současně , že převálcovala a vyčerpala veškerou opozici.

Snad je už příliš pozdě je zastavit. Ale první krok k jejich zpomalení je uvědomění si, že tato vláda se nepodobá žádné jiné v historii USA. Je vládou, pro kterou je demokracie překážka.

Revealed: US plan to \'own\' space

As part of a plan to ensure its total military supremacy, the US is preparing to complete the domination of space -- by any means necessary. Neil Mackay explains the terrifying new face of global warfare


IT SOUNDS like the stuff of the darkest sci-fi fantasies, but it\'s not. The Air Force Space Command Strategic Master Plan is a clear statement of the US\'s intention to dominate the world by turning space into the crucial battlefield of the 21st century.

The document details how the US Air Force Space Command is developing exotic new weapons, nuclear warheads and spacecraft to allow the US to hit any target on earth within seconds. It also unashamedly states that the US will not allow any other power to get a foothold in space.

The rush to militarise space will also see domestic laws and foreign agreements torn up. As the document warns: \'To fully develop and exploit [space] ... some US policies and international treaties may need to be reviewed and modified\'.

The Strategic Master Plan (SMP) changes the nature of war. No longer will battles be fought by ships, aircraft and ground forces. Instead the US will use its technology to dominate any theatre of war from space.

The document also opens the door for the US to become the only global policeman. Control of space will give it uniquely instantaneous reach, capable of \'worldwide military operations.\'

The first page of the document clearly spells out America\'s agenda. General Lance W Lord, of Air Force Space Command, writes in his foreword: \'As guardians of the High Frontier, Air Force Space Command has the vision and the people to ensure the United States achieves space superiority today and in the future.\'

The document also lays the groundwork for the development of \'21st century space warriors\' -- a new military cadre tasked solely to fight \'from and in\' space. The SMP says this Space Corps \'is just as crucial to the success of our vision as employing new technologies\'.

Air Force Space Command operates from a base in Colorado and its mission is to \'defend America through space and intercontinental ballistic missile operations\'. Its ultimate goal is to \'project global reach and global power\'. Although little is known about Space Command in Europe, it is central to the US military machine and staffed by some 40,000 military and civilians.

General Lord says the strategy of the SMP \'will enable us to transform space power to provide our nation with diverse options to globally apply force in, from, and through space with modern intercontinental ballistic missiles ... and new conventional global strike capabilities\'.

In gung-ho language, the foreword reads: \'Precision weapons guided to their targets by space-based navigation -- instant global communications for commanders and their forces -- enemy weapons of mass destruction held at risk by a ready force of intercontinental ballistic missiles -- adversary missiles detected within seconds of launch. This is not a vision of the future. This is space today!\'

Lord adds: \'Our space team is building capabilities that provide the President with a range of space power options to discourage aggression or any form of coercion against the United States.\'

The (SMP) says: \'Effective use of space-based resources provides a continual and global presence over key areas of the world ... military forces have always viewed the \'high ground\' position as one of dominance. With rare exception, whoever owned the high ground owned the fight. Space is the ultimate high ground of US military operations.

\'Today, control of this high ground means superiority ... and significant force enhancement. Tomorrow, ownership may mean instant engagement anywhere in the world.\'

The primary goal of the SMP is to give the US military \'the capability to deliver attacks from space\'. The use of \'space power\' would also let the US deploy military might instantaneously across the face of the earth and completely \'bypass adversary defences\'.

In order to \'fully exploit and control space\', the United States Air Force Space Command says it has to \'negate\' the ability of foreign powers to develop their own space capabilities. The plan also demands that Space Command \'focus on missions carried out by weapons systems operating from or through space for holding terrestrial targets at risk\'.

The document proclaims US aspirations to \'global vigilance, reach and power\', and Space Command says its vision \'looks 25 years into the future and is summed up as follows: space warfighting forces providing continuous deterrence and prompt global engagement for America ... through the control and exploitation of space\'.

The aim, the SMP says, is to:

# \'Extend the reach, precision and intensity of US military power and operations.\'

# \'Ensure the ability to apply space forces when and where we need them and that our adversary understands the advantage we possess.\'

# \'Use our space capabilities at our discretion while at the same time denying our adversaries access to space assets at their disposal.\'

One of Space Command\'s key functions is the operation of America\'s arsenal of intercontinental ballistic missiles. The SMP details how the US wants to be able to fire either nuclear or conventional missiles from space, out of range of enemy weapons. \'Such a capability will provide warfighting commanders the ability to rapidly deny, delay, deceive, disrupt, destroy, exploit and neutralise targets in hours/minutes rather than weeks/days,\' it adds.

The SMP also shows how the US fears advances in space technology among other nations -- including its European allies. \'Space capabilities are proliferating internationally,\' it says, \'a trend that can reduce the advantages we currently enjoy.\' It points out that Space Command has no control over the European Galileo satellite system .

A list of strategies and objectives detail the goals of Space Command in the coming years. These include:

# creating an instantaneous global strike force.

# Total monitoring of the Earth by \'real-time global situation awareness.\'

# a nuclear arsenal in space.

# the development of exotic new weapons.

# the maintenance of US military dominance. The doctrine declares: \'when challenged, pursue superiority in space through robust ... defensive and offensive capabilities.\'

# a fully integrated \'land, sea, air and space war-fighting system.\'

# integrating civil and commercial space operations with military ones.

One of the exotic weapons in development is known as the Ground Moving Target Indicator (GMTI). This would be a tracking device, based in space, which could pinpoint and follow the smallest of targets on earth . GMTI, the document says, will improve the ability to \'detect, locate, identify and track a wide range of strategic and tactical targets we currently have minimal ability to detect, such as nuclear, biological and chemical weapons and activities, hidden targets and moving air targets\'.

The worldwide scope of Space Command\'s project is shown by the names of some of the units under its control: Global Strike, Air and Space Expeditionary, Global Response Task Forces and Global Mobility Task Force. Space Command is also setting up a wing of the intelligence services devoted to the militarisation of space. Space Command says it is \'aggressively modernising our existing nuclear forces \'.

Another goal is the ability to use a \'conventional non-nuclear prompt global strike from and through space\'. One of the new weapons tipped to bring about this transformation is the CAV, or Common Aero Vehicle. This military spaceplane would be stocked with so-called smart bombs and could strike targets from space.

Another exotic development will be \'a virtual, global, synthetic battlespace in which space forces will train [and] rehearse missions\'. The US space corps would fight global cyber-battles in a virtual world as big as the earth and its atmosphere. This would complement current Space Command facilities such as the Space Warfare Centre, the Space Battle Lab and the Fusion Centre.

The conclusion of the SMP report leaves no doubt of how important these plans are to the US military and government: \'Expanding the role of space in future conflicts ... produces a fully integrated air and space force that is persuasive in peace, decisive in war and pre-eminent in any form of conflict.\'

The claim that Iraq posed a clear and immediate threat was never proven. It is a claim that could not have been made seriously, except by a propagandist uttering the big lie, writes Ray Cassin.

Remember all the propagandistic effort that was devoted, during the months before the invasion of Iraq, to comparing Hitler with Saddam Hussein?

The aim was to make a further comparison. The equivalence of these two moral monsters, it was claimed by those calling for war, implied a further equivalence: those who opposed war, or at least wanted the UN, and not US strategic doctrine, to decide if and when war might be necessary, were effectively taking the same line as the appeasers of the 1930s. To delay in deposing the Iraqi dictator, it was argued, would be to allow another Hitler to threaten peace, in his region and the wider world.

The argument was a sham, even in terms of what was known at the time. Saddam Hussein, like Hitler, was undoubtedly a sadistic tyrant. But, unlike Germany after 1933, Iraq after the 1991 Gulf War was not a resurgent military power making territorial demands on its neighbours. It was a defeated, militarily weakened, impoverished and demoralised nation. What is more, it had been reduced to that state, and kept in that state, under the banner of the UN, an organisation that those throwing the \"appeaser\" tag around were comparing, bizarrely, with the impotent League of Nations.

There was evidence, reported by the UN weapons inspection team headed by Hans Blix, that Iraq had persisted in trying to manufacture weapons of mass destruction: stocks of toxins and chemical agents it was known to have possessed have not been accounted for. But missing - and, because of their age, probably degraded - chemical and biological agents are not the same as weapons capable of being deployed at short notice. And the case for invasion was built on the claim that Iraq did have such weapons. Whatever evasions of its commitment to the UN to dispose of all weapons of mass destruction that the Baathist regime indulged in, the claim that Iraq posed a clear and immediate threat was never proven.

It is a claim that could not have been made seriously, except by a propagandist uttering the big lie. Just how barefaced a lie it was is now becoming apparent.

It is not only because, two months after the downfall of the regime, no weapons of mass destruction have been found. They may yet be found, although the US is under such pressure to find them that the world is entitled to be sceptical of any \"discovery\" that is not independently verified. UN weapons inspectors have never been needed in Iraq more than now, when the US will not let them in. But the elusive WMDs are not the deepest cause for disquiet.

The US Deputy Secretary of Defence, Paul Wolfowitz, has airily dismissed the clamour about the WMDs, telling the Bush Administration\'s favourite glossy magazine, Vanity Fair, that the weapons had only been emphasised in making the case for war for \"bureaucratic\" reasons . . . \"it was one reason that everyone could agree on\". Bureaucratic reasons for war? This is a big-lie mentality so brazen that it outs itself and asks what all the fuss is about.

Special forces \'prepare for Iran attack\'

British and American intelligence and special forces have been put on alert for a conflict with Iran within the next 12 months, as fears grow that Tehran is building a nuclear weapons programme.

Iran has been constructing a nuclear civil power programme for some years. It is due to start generating significant amounts of electricity for the national power grid in two years.

However, United Nations, American and EU experts have become alarmed at the extent of the nuclear plants in Iran, and many are of a sophistication that suggests that they are for a weapons programme rather than for civil use.

The US president is claiming that suspected arms sites had been looted in the waning days of Saddam Hussein\'s rule.

He is explaining the failure of British and American troops to find evidence on weapons of mass destruction by saying they have been destroyed.

\"And in the regime\'s final days, documents and suspected weapons sites were looted and burned.\"

Venezuelan move to replace US$ with the €uro upsetting Washington more than Saddam\'s €uro conversion last November

A move by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias to replace the US$ with the €uro is seen as upsetting Washington more than when Iraq\'s Saddam Hussein started using the €uro for oil transactions last November ... precipitating the US-led action to invade Iraq. Beltway bullies are now said to be angered by Venezuela\'s decision to barter oil with thirteen other Latin American countries, dealing moves to dollarize South America currencies. Intelligence reports say that while the US was able to pull the wool over the international community and ally with Britain\'s Blair to bulldoze action against former Iran War ally Hussein, the situation with Venezuela is proving more difficult.

While there has been political pretext to cold-shoulder Chavez Frias and his government for supposed links with Cuba\'s Castro and Libya\'s Khadaffi, the United States is loathe to do more than to give subversive support to anti-Chavez elements in Venezuela fighting against the Venezuelan President\'s domestic war against political and economic corruption which have permeated the South American country for the last half-century.

Russia, China, North Korea and Malaysia have begun holding €uros as important hedgings in their foreign exchange reserves as faith in American greenbacks floats down the river.

False war beliefs \'striking\'

WASHINGTON — A third of the American public believes U.S. forces found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, according to a recent poll. And 22 percent said Iraq actually used chemical or biological weapons.

Before the war, half of those polled in a survey said Iraqis were among the 19 hijackers on Sept. 11, 2001.

But such weapons have not been found in Iraq, and were never used. Most of the Sept. 11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. None were Iraqis.

How could so many people be so wrong about life-and-death information that has dominated news coverage for almost two years?

These results startled the pollsters who conducted and analyzed the surveys.

\"It\'s a striking finding,\" said Steve Kull, director of the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland, which asked the weapons questions during a May 14-18 poll of 1,265 respondents.

He added, \"Given the intensive news coverage and high levels of public attention, this level of misinformation suggests some Americans may be avoiding having an experience of cognitive dissonance.\"

That is, having their beliefs conflict with the facts.

Bombing Iran could be tempting option for Bush

Afghanistan remains a mess. Iraq is becoming so. But George Bush wants to march on to Iran.

Expect him to ramp up the rhetoric in the weeks ahead. Perhaps even prepare the ground for bombing that country\'s nuclear installations in the months leading up to next year\'s presidential election.

It may not come to Two Minutes Over Tehran, à la the 1981 Israeli attack on the Iraqi nuclear reactor in Baghdad. But don\'t rule out the scenario, either.

It would be an easy option — no mass mobilization of troops, no anti-war protests, no messy war.

It would be tempting to a president in domestic trouble over a sinking economy and deteriorating public services due to his tax cuts.

A quick hit on Iran could be more unilateral than the American invasion of Iraq. The president wouldn\'t even need the obsequious Tony Blair in tow.

\"The international community must come together to make it very clear to Iran that we will not tolerate construction of a nuclear weapon,\" Bush said, sounding just like he did last fall launching his campaign for war on Iraq.

This week in California a lawyer is suing the U.S. government, claiming that the HIV-AIDS virus is a man made virus developed and manufactured in the United States with the knowledge of the U.S. government. On June 27th. prominent lawyer and AIDS researcher, Dr. Boyd E Graves JD* will finally present his case, number 02 CV 02396**, before Judge Jeffrey T. Miller in a San Diego court, claiming that the HIV virus, the virus that causes AIDS, is a virus that was manufactured in American laboratories between 1962 and 1978. On November 27th. last year the Office of the Secretary of the United States Department of Health and Human Services granted Dr. Graves sixty days to file suit in the United States federal court against the U.S. government. Graves claims he has hundreds of government documents proving HIV-AIDS was designed as biological terrorism against African-Americans. His action was initially brought in the U.S. Supreme Court, Case No. 00-9587.

Captured al-Qa\'eda man was FBI spy

The American al-Qa\'eda operative unmasked last week as having planned to bring down the Brooklyn Bridge was first detained in March, and has been used by the FBI for months as a double agent, it was reported yesterday.

US authorities waited until last week to announce a plea bargain struck with Iyman Faris, a Pakistani-born lorry driver ordered to scout out terror targets, including the New York landmark.

They did not say that Faris, who was also ordered to study ultralight aircraft, and the possibility of derailing a train into a chemical storage facility in Washington, had been under FBI control for months.

Justice Department officials told Time magazine that Faris was secretly detained about two weeks after the dramatic capture on March 1 in Pakistan of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, al-Qa\'eda\'s chief of operations.

Installed in a safe house in Virginia, Faris sent messages to his terrorist commanders by mobile phone and email. \"He was sitting in the safe house making calls for us. It was a huge triumph,\" a senior Bush administration official told Time.

After pleading guilty to offering material support to al-Qa\'eda, Faris will be sentenced in August. He faces up to 20 years in prison.

Special Forces \'Prepare for Iran Attack\'

British and American intelligence and special forces have been put on alert for a conflict with Iran within the next 12 months, as fears grow that Tehran is building a nuclear weapons programme.

Iran has been constructing a nuclear civil power programme for some years. It is due to start generating significant amounts of electricity for the national power grid in two years.

However, United Nations, American and EU experts have become alarmed at the extent of the nuclear plants in Iran, and many are of a sophistication that suggests that they are for a weapons programme rather than for civil use.

A full report by the International Atomic Energy Authority is due to be published within days. It points at \"discrepancies\" in what Iran has officially disclosed about its nuclear facilities.

The chief IAEA inspector Mohammed El Baradei said: \"Tehran has failed to report certain nuclear material and activities.\"

The EU has declared this week that it backs the demands of the United States and Britain that IAEA inspectors should be allowed full access to all nuclear sites in Iran. Russia, which has helped Iran develop nuclear plants, has also backed the international effort to get more inspectors on the ground there.

Tehran has rejected these demands. A government spokesman accused Washington of \"blatant interference\" in stirring up the student protests against the clerical regime, which have been running for six nights in the capital.

However, the EU\'s foreign ministers meeting in Luxembourg yesterday backed the Americans and demanded that inspectors be admitted or any trade deals with the EU should be called off.

In the past week the EU and Nato, as well as Russia and Japan, have expressed genuine alarm that Iran could be developing a nuclear weapons programme more powerful than anything Saddam Hussein actually achieved in Iraq, whatever he intended.

\"This is not a question of crying Wolfowitz,\" a Washington defence insider said, referring to the calls to deal with the \"axis of evil\" of rogue states - which include Iran - by the hawkish deputy defence secretary Paul Wolfowitz. \"The threat is real.\"

Already CIA agents are known to have been working inside Iran to establish the full range of the Iranian nuclear programme. Production and research is being carried out at no less than 16 different sites, including Tehran university-Recently Iran began developing a new series of medium-range missiles, which could reach Israel, Cyprus and even Greece.

Growing protests against the clerical regime of the ayatollahs has suddenly made Iran more unstable in the past few weeks. President Bush has welcomed the protests, though some fear they will make the country even more unmanageable. But one of the Pentagon\'s most hardline advisers, Richard Perle, has said that the demonstrations could undermine the rule of the clerics, which would be the best way of disarming Iran. Michael Ledeen, his colleague at the American Enterprise Institute, a think tank close to the White House, has gone further.

He wrote last week: \"Iraq\'s support of terrorism was minuscule compared to Tehran\'s activities. If we are serious about winning the war against the terror masters, the Tehran regime must fall.\"

Washington also blames the ayatollahs in Tehran for giving financial backing and training to a hardline organisation, the Supreme Council of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), founded by Ayatollah Mohammed Bakr al Hakim. He has just returned to Iraq. The ayatollah is blamed for the Shi\'ite violence against British and American forces in Basra and in the Shi\'ite heartlands of central and southern Iraq.

A British intelligence official said that any campaign against Iran would not be a ground war like the one in Iraq. The Americans will use different tactics, said the intelligence officer. \"It is getting quite scary.\"

Why No Objection to Israel’s WMD?

CAIRO, 20June 2003 — Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has spelled out clearly his reasons for accepting the Middle East road map with 14 reservations. During the Aqaba summit on June6 , he said: “Permanent peace requires permanent security. This permanent security will bring about permanent peace to Israel.” To accept peace on Sharon’s terms would make the proposed Palestinian state a mockery in the service of Israel’s security.

The most dangerous thing is that Israel is allowed to possess all kinds of weapons of mass destruction while Arab countries are denied these weapons under the pretext that Israel is under threat.

Israel has said that it is not yet time to look at its nuclear arsenal and weapons of mass destruction because it has not yet attained permanent security and peace.

As a result, Israel has become a depot for nuclear, chemical and biological weapons threatening the security of Arab, Asian and European countries. Does Israel require this large arsenal of banned weapons? The French constructed the Dimona nuclear reactor and produced enriched uranium. Israel was ready to produce its first nuclear bomb as early as1965 .

In March1969 , Moshe Dayan celebrated the birth of the Israeli nuclear state and the Israeli nuclear scientist Vannunu has acknowledged that his country was in6 th position in the nuclear club in the1980 s. According to one estimate, Israel possesses at least 100 nuclear bombs.

Apart from two plants in Dimona, Israel established a number of other nuclear plants in Nahal Suryak, south of Tel Aviv in 1958 and in Raishon Liston and Haifa. In1994 , US President Bill Clinton approved nine supercomputers to meet the needs of Israel’s nuclear program. Informed sources have estimated that Israel has 100 to 200 nuclear warheads, but another report put the figure at more than500 .

Quoting Vannunu, American journalist Seymour Hersh says in his book that Israel possesses about 300 nuclear warheads. He also says that he has got information indicating Israel possesses hundreds of nitrogen bombs. Reports have confirmed that Israel has various types of nuclear weapons including nuclear bombs which could be dropped from planes, missile warheads, in addition to 25 hydrogen bombs.

Israel also holds an unspecified numbers of tactical weapons.

At least three international sources have confirmed that Israel had not only produced nuclear mines but spread them in various regions at different periods of the Arab-Israeli conflict, especially in Golan and Naqab during the military confrontation with Egypt in October 1973 and in January1991 .

The question is: Who can ask the international community to disarm Israel of its mass destructive weapons?

TV3 apologises for Bush gaffe

TV3 has apologised after a graphic labelling United States President George W Bush a \"professional fascist\" flashed up during its prime time news.

The baseline graphic, which was supposed to have promoted an upcoming weather bulletin, was aired to 360,000 viewers halfway through last night\'s news.

TV3 spokesman Roger Beaumont said the network was thoroughly investigating the mislabelled graphic.

\"It was an absolute case of human error. The fact that it made it to air was extremely unfortunate and we apologise for any offence that may have been taken.

\"What I can assure you is that it was a completely unintentional mistake.\"

The graphic was on screen for only a matter of seconds, but it was long enough to leave many viewers \"surprised and confused\".

Yesterday a handful of those people wanted to know how and why the mistake happened.

Mr Beaumont said it was too early to say if disciplinary action would be taken against the person who made the \"absolutely genuine mistake\".

Israel: Iraq \'Not Enough\' - Wants US To Take Syria, Iran

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Israeli ambassador in Washington called for \"regime change\" in Iran and Syria on Monday through diplomatic isolation, economic sanctions and what he called \"psychological pressure.\"

Ambassador Daniel Ayalon said the U.S. invasion of Iraq and overthrow of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein helped create great opportunities for Israel but it was \"not enough.\"

\"It has to follow through. We still have great threats of that magnitude coming from Syria, coming from Iran,\" he told a conference of the pro-Israeli Anti-Defamation League.

Police shut down girl\'s lemonade stand; city later offers free permit

Avigayil Wardein may be only 6, but in the past few days she has learned a lot about permits and dealing with government regulations.

Naples police officers shut down a lemonade stand Avigayil was operating with friends at the end of her driveway on 11th Avenue South on Friday. Her mother, K.C. Shaw, said the lemonade stand was shut down because a neighbor complained.

\"The police officers were really embarrassed about it,\" Shaw said. \"One of them even bought some lemonade.\"

Under city rules, a permit is needed to operate a temporary commercial business in Naples.

Shaw said Avigayil will no longer charge 50 cents for a glass of lemonade. The lemonade will now be free and people will have the option of tipping her daughter and the other children who operate the stand.

\"I spoke to a lawyer over the weekend and he told me the city couldn\'t shut us down if we didn\'t charge people anything,\" she said. \"I think that\'s the way we\'re going to do it from now on.\"

The threat of rain didn\'t prevent Avigayil and her friends, Alysa Gonnella, 6, and Austin Dremann, 9, from reopening Tuesday.

\"I want to sell a lot of lemonade today,\" Avigayil said.

Shaw said she usually sits on the porch while the lemonade stand is open.

\"They want to be independent, so I sit up here and watch them,\" she said. \"We get a lot of construction workers, people from the beach and people from Cambier Park who stop and buy lemonade.\"
