Test Marketing the Mark of the Beast!

A prototype of an implantable biometric chip capable of marking an individual's precise location and of monitoring him or her for life is gaining support. It was named Best in Show of 170 International Science Exhibitors last year, and released in its "First Phase" wristwatch format called Guardian Angel soon after. Most recently millions of Today Show viewers watched an American family get "chipped" with ADS's VeriChip™ live from a doctor's office in Boca Raton. Recent acts of terrorism have many calling for mandatory implementation of the implantable technology...more below.


Applied Digital Solutions (ADS) received patent rights to Digital Angel (TM) technology on December 10, 1999. What set Digital Angel apart from the competition was the innovative design--a miniature digital transceiver specifically created for human implantation.

According to information released last year the implantable transceiver "sends and receives data and can be continuously tracked by GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) technology. The transceiver's power supply and actuation system are unlike anything ever created. When implanted within a body, the device is powered electromechanically through the movement of muscles, and it can be activated either by the 'wearer' or by the monitoring facility."

An Information Technology report recently verified plans to study implantable chips as a method of tracking terrorists. After first pulling back from the implantable version of its Digital Angel, ADS foresees a unique use of its product in the wake of terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.

"We've changed out thinking since September 11," a company spokesman said, "Now there's more of a need to monitor evil activities."

ADS also claims the Digital Angel has a variety of other uses, such as "providing a tamper-proof means of identification for enhanced e-business security, animal tracking, locating lost or missing individuals, tracking the location of valuable property and monitoring the medical conditions of at-risk patients."

Following the Internet World Wireless 2001 award for "Best of Show: Client Services," Mercedes Walton, President and COO of Applied Digital Solutions, said: ``We have always had high expectations for the Digital Angel products. This award is truly a validation of our faith in Digital Angel's ability to capture the imagination of the public. Consumer anticipation has translated into accelerated interest from potential partners and allies. We are eager to bring Digital Angel to the marketplace in a very timely manner...."

To further advocate Digital Angel technology, Applied Digital Solutions launched a website http://www.digitalangel.net where viewers can peruse diagrams and read summary information.

Other manufacturers of sub-skin implants have quietly field-tested similar devices over the past few years. The London Times reported in October 1998, "Film stars and the children of millionaires are among 45 people, including several Britons, who have been fitted with the chips (called the Sky Eye) in secret tests."

Due to civil liberty and privacy issues, the ACLU announced opposition to mandatory microchip implantation when applied to humans. The ACLU is certain to be a strange bedfellow of Christians and conservatives concerning this issue.

THE FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY?

Many Christians believe that, before long, an antichrist system will appear. It will be a New World Order, under which national boundaries dissolve, and ethnic groups, ideologies, religions, and economics from around the world, orchestrate a single and dominant sovereignty. The system will supposedly be free of religious and political extremes, and membership will tolerate the philosophical and cultural differences of its constituents. Except for minor nonconformities, war, terrorism, and hunger will be a thing of the past.

According to popular Biblical interpretation, a single personality will surface at the head of the utopian administration. He will appear as a man of distinguished character, but will ultimately become "a king of fierce countenance" (Dan. 8:23).

With imperious decree the Antichrist will facilitate the one-world government, universal religion, and globally monitored socialism. Those who refuse his New World Order will inevitably be imprisoned or destroyed, until at last he exalts himself "above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he, as God, sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God" (2 Thess. 2:4).

The Antichrist's widespread power will be derived at the expense of individual human liberties. He will force "all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six [666]" (Rev. 13:16-18).

For many years the idea that humans could somehow succumb to little more than branded cattle, and that rugged individualism would thereafter be sacrificed for an anesthetized universal harmony, was repudiated by America’s greatest minds.

Then, in the 1970’s, things began to change. Following a call by Nelson Rockefeller for the creation of a "New World Order," presidential candidate Jimmy Carter campaigned, saying, "We must replace balance of power politics with world order politics."

During the 1980's President George Bush continued the one-world dirge, announcing over national television that "a New World Order" had arrived. Following the initial broadcast, President Bush addressed the Congress, saying,


What is at stake is more than one small country [Kuwait], it is a big idea--a new world order, where diverse nations are drawn together in common cause to achieve the universal aspirations of mankind: peace and security, freedom, and the rule of law. Such is a world worthy of our struggle, and worthy of our children’s future!

Ever since the President's astonishing newscast, a parade of political and religious leaders have discharged a profusion of rhetoric aimed at implementing the goals of a New World Order.
Developers of biometric implant chips employ similar language in announcing compatible global technologies, and many Americans consider electronically marking humans or implanting a series of digital equations under the skin to be the natural progress of advancing and necessary technologies.

IT SHOULD COME AS NO SURPRISE

Some people believe implantable microchips will be the Biblical Mark of the Beast. These claim that acts of terrorism such as the ones in New York and Washington, encourage microchipping humans for identification purposes.

But even before the New York and Pentagon tragedies, a push was being made to brand and monitor humanity. Consider the following:

As far back as 1973, Senior Scholastics introduced school age children to the concept of buying and selling using numbers inserted in the forehead. In the September 20, 1973 feature "Who Is Watching You?" the secular high school journal speculated:

"All buying and selling in the program will be done by computer. No currency, no change, no checks. In the program, people would receive a number that had been assigned them tattooed in their wrist or forehead. The number is put on by laser beam and cannot be felt. The number in the body is not seen with the naked eye and is as permanent as your fingerprints. All items of consumer goods will be marked with a computer mark. The computer outlet in the store which picks up the number on the items at the checkstand will also pick up the number in the person's body and automatically total the price and deduct the amount from the person's 'Special Drawing Rights' account."

In the 1974 article "The Specter of Eugenics," Charles Frankel pointed out Linus Pauling's (Nobel Prize winner) suggestions that a mark be tattooed on the foot or forehead of every young person. Pauling envisioned a mark denoting genotype.

In 1980, U.S. News and World Report continued the warning, pointing out that the Federal Government was contemplating "National Identity Cards," without which nobody could work or conduct business.

The Denver Post Sun followed up in 1981, claiming that chip implants could someday replace I.D. cards. The June 21, 1981 story read in part, "The chip is placed in a needle which is affixed to a simple syringe containing an anti-bacterial solution. The needle is capped and ready to forever identify something--or somebody."

The May 7, 1996 Chicago Tribune questioned the technology, wondering aloud if we could trust Big Brother under our skin?

Then in 1997 applications for patents of subcutaneous implant devices for "a person or an animal" were applied for.

On April 27, 1998, Time Magazine ran the story, The Big Bank Theory And What It Says About The Future OF Money, in which they opined "Your daughter can store the money any way she wants--on her laptop, on a debit card, even (in the not too distant future) on a chip implanted under her skin."

In August 1998 the BBC covered the first known human microchip implantation. (see documentation)

That same month the Sunday Oregonian warned that proposed medical identifiers might erode privacy rights by tracking individuals through alphanumeric health identifier technologies. The startling Oregonian feature depicted humans with barcodes in their foreheads.

Senator Robb (Virginia) felt it necessary to add the MARC (multi-technology automated reader card) Card Amendment to the FY97 DOD Authorization Bill.

Meanwhile, it's the year 2003. Terrorism has many people in the mood to sacrifice human liberties, and Digital Angel has opened its first mass production factory in Palm Beach, Florida.

WILL DIGITAL "MARKS" SOON BE MANDATORY?

Makers of implantable microchips claim the proceedure will be voluntary at first. But a report written by Elaine M. Ramish for the Franklin Pierce Law Center says:

"A [mandatory] national identification system via microchip implants could be achieved in two stages: Upon introduction as a voluntary system, the microchip implantation will appear to be palatable. After there is a familiarity with the procedure and a knowledge of its benefits, implantation would be mandatory."

George Getz, the communications director for the Libertarian Party agrees, saying:

After all, the government has never forced anyone to have a driver license, [but] try getting along without one, when everyone from your local banker to the car rental man to the hotel operator to the grocery store requires one in order for you to take advantage of their services, that amounts to a de facto mandate. If the government can force you to surrender your fingerprints to get a drivers license, why can't it force you to get a computer chip implant?

People like Mr. Getz are correct. Conservatives and liberals alike need to contact state and federal representatives and demand laws preserving individual rights before Digital Angel and similar forces lead humanity down a high-tech path of no return.

Just as Social Security numbers were first voluntary, then mandatory, biometric chip implants will eventually become mandatory unless citizens rise up in immediate and national opposition. Even Applied Digital Solution's chief executive officer Richard Sullivan envisions a scenario where ``people [are] required to be chipped or [have] some combination of a device requiring them to be scanned and monitored at all times.'' [1]

Note what the prophet said!

Did the prophet foresee a hypodermic needle injecting something beneath the skin? Probably.
A temporary victory was won against such ideas following the original news story by Raiders News Update concerning ADS's implantable microchip intentions in 1999. News services across the web ran our story resulting in an inundation by concerned readers. ADS's shares droped on the Nasdaq from $5.00 to .50 each. ADS then released this statement:

"We are not pursuing any applications for embedded chips and we have moved away from that for a couple of reasons....There are a number of privacy concerns and religious implications -- fundamentalist Christian groups [Raiders News Update] regard it [implanting computer chips] as the Devil's work."

More recently however an Independent news story claimed that if the Palm Beach testing center's wristwatch version of Digital Angel is successful, ADS "will start implanting them inside humans between the muscle and the skin on the forearm next year."

Then terrorism came along, the perfect incentive for mandating everything from face scanning to implantable chips as not only inevitable, but perhaps a good idea. These are differences in degree, not in kind, and forecasts a prediction made long ago:

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. (Rev. 14:9-11)

Svět sleduje vývoj ve Spojených státech už delší dobu se vzrůstajícím neklidem. Od volebního puče, kterým si Bush a skupina neokonzervativců zajistila vítězství, uplynuly skoro tři roky. Od té doby jako kdyby naše planeta byla prokletá. Nebo jako kdyby vlétla do oblasti vesmíru, kde v politice stoprocentně platí Murphyho zákon: "Může-li se něco pokazit, tak se to pokazí." A "padající předmět padá směrem, kterým způsobí co nejvíce škod."

Poslední dva roky usedám ráno k počítači s obavou, co se zase hrozného za posledních pár hodin událo. A pak čtu a k dlouhému, nepřetržitému řetězu špatných zpráv z včerejška a před včerejška a minulého týdne a měsíce přidávám nové špatné zprávy, přičemž je rozděluji pouze na ty špatné a ještě horší. Ať jde o útok na životní prostředí, demografický vývoj, potlačování základních lidských práv, policejní šmírování, celosvětovou zaprodanost masmédií, ztrátu soudnosti u většiny populace, úpadek morálky a vkusu, běsnění hlasatelů politické korektnosti, divoký rasismus proti bílým, ekonomickou situaci, šílené zbrojení, militarizaci kosmu, genové manipulace, vznik nových podivných nemocí, které ještě před několika lety neexistovaly, atd., atd. Pozitivních zpráv je tak málo, že to odporuje zákonům počtu pravděpodobnosti.

Bohužel všechno ukazuje na to, že nádoba zla není ještě prázdná. A že to nejhustější, co bývá u dna, nás ještě čeká.

V Americe se schyluje k volbám. Ačkoliv má Bush (díky machinacím s volebními počítači) vítězství jisté na 80 %, obávám se, že to není to, po čem doopravdy prahne. Respektive on ví, že stejně vyhraje. Bush chápe své prezidentství, jako boží poslání. Je přesvědčen, že ho povolal Bůh a že všechno, co činí, je z vůle Boží.

Bush sám je ovšem jenom figurka. Je ovládán mocnou skupinou v pozadí. Ta skupina se nikdy netajila s tím, že jí jde o globální vládu nad světem. Alespoň toto je dobrá zpráva, protože nemusíme ztrácet čas hádáním, o co jim vlastně jde. Dali nám to na talíři. Program PNAC - Project for the New American Century ( http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article1665.htm, http://abcnews.go.com/sections/nightline/DailyNews/pnac_030310.html) byl zveřejněn dlouho předtím, než se Bush dostal do Bílého domu. A po jeho jmenování dosedlo na nejvyšší místa v nejmocnějším státě světa 10 z 18 mužů, podepsaných pod PNAC.

Pochopitelně těchto deset mužů je jen viditelná špička ledovce. Nedosáhli by ničeho, kdyby za nimi nestály nadnárodní zbrojařské a naftařské koncerny, banky, finanční oligarchie, média a kdyby se jejich plány nekryly s plány Izraele, jehož současní vládci rovněž usoudili, že přišel čas konečně realizovat slova 2000 let starého učení o tom, že jsou nadřazeni ostatním národům, které jim musí sloužit.

V čele nejmocnějšího státu světa tedy dnes stojí fanatický, bigotní psychopat s omezeným rozhledem, se sklonem k alkoholu, přesvědčený o tom, že ho seslal Bůh, ovládaný skupinou ke všemu schopných šílenců. Hitler i Stalin byli podobné kreatury, jenže oni neměli prst na spoušti největšího jaderného potenciálu světa, jehož síla byla už v roce 1950 schopná zničit život na planetě několikrát. Opravdu nemohlo to být horší.

Vše, co skupina PNAC za podpory sionistů zatím podnikla, bylo bezchybné. Hm, tedy téměř bezchybné. Některé nesrovnalosti kolem skvěle provedeného útoku z 11. září sice pronikly na veřejnost a daly vzniknout poměrně silným konspiračním teoriím, ale tím se příští vládcové světa nemusí zabývat. Vědí, že stokrát opakovaná lež se stane pravdou, a že do masmédií nic z těch desítek podezřelých důkazů a nelogičností kolem 11. září, nepronikne. A ostatně, jejich hlasatelé už brzy oněmí...

Trošku se jim to zkomplikovalo v Iráku a Afghánistánu. Ti hloupí Arabové se brání jako čerti a skvělá technická převaha americké armády není v primitivních a pouštních podmínkách k ničemu. Navíc se už pomalu nedostává peněz a vojáků. Vojenské síly rozprostřené ve 120 zemích světa se podobají rozlitému mléku. Plochou pokryjí celou podlahu, ale vrstvička je to jen milimetr tlustá. Jistě bude třeba povolat další mladé muže a 280 milionový stát nemůže mít problém postavit deseti milionovou armádu, bude-li třeba. Brát je z čeho. Už se také hovoří o státní loterii, branci se museli zaregistrovat a jejich jména budou náhodně tažena pro službu v zámoří. Jenže v tomto okamžiku je to ještě politicky nevhodné. Vládcové jsou ještě zranitelní.

Dalším drobným problémem, který zatím neohrožuje přímo, ale časem by mohl, je otázka voleb. Stále více odborníků i prostých občanů začíná protestovat proti elektronickému hlasování, které nelze ověřit. Stát Kalifornia už dokonce přijal zákon, že do roku 2006 musí každý hlasovací počítač zanechávat papírovou stopu, takže by se volební lístky v případě nesrovnalosti daly přepočítat ručně. Pravda, v roce 2006 už bude dávno po volbách, ale co ty další volby? Očekává se, že příkladu Kalifornie budou brzy následovat další státy.

Přišel čas vykonat poslední krok. Převzít moc, zlikvidovat opozici, umlčet disent, zrušit volby. Co nejrychleji a jednou pro vždy vyřešit problém s arabskou naftou a se vzpurnými muslimy, pacifikovat a ovládnout země Středního východu, Izraeli vyřešit problém s Palestinou (vnutit světu myšlenku, že žádná Palestina nikdy neexistovala), doma zlikvidovat opozici a zajistit si časově neomezenou vládu.

Co se Arabů týče, jediná možnost je použít jaderné zbraně. To ušetří vojáky i peníze a zajistí rychlé vítězství. Arabům to vezme chuť na další odpor. Jenže když je USA použije jako první, vyvolá to ve světě bouři nevole a odporu. Na to sice Bushova administrativa kašle, ale jsou tady finanční vazby a ty by mohly utrpět. Amerika denně potřebuje půjčit od zbytku světa dvě miliardy dolarů, aby udržela ekonomiku v chodu.

Takže je nutno použít jaderné zbraně až jako reakci na ZHN teroristů.

Jak to bude probíhat, nevím, ale bude to velké. Předpokládám, že v příštích měsících vybuchne v některém velkém městě západního světa atomová bomba střední velikosti. Nejpravděpodobněji v USA nebo v Británii, ale může to být i jinde. Možná to budou bomby dvě.

Druhá varianta je biologický útok. V některém městě (městech) vypukne epidemie smrtelné choroby.

Ať už to budou bomby nebo nemoc, důležité je to, že při tom musí zemřít velké množství lidí. Uvažuji o desítkách, možná stovkách tisíc. Pro Američany to musí být šok ještě mnohem horší, než ten z 11. září. Jinak nebude možné říct: "Lidičky, já vás ochráním," zrušit ústavu (jak to předvídal generál Franks) a vyhlásit stanné právo, zavřít opozici, přijmout beze zbytku Patriot Act II a možná i III, zavést všeobecnou brannou povinnost, celý stát neprodyšně uzavřít, dostavět koncentráky a prohlásit se za neodvolatelného vůdce. Zkrátka začít konečně vládnout bez servítku.

Z útoku bude možno okamžitě obvinit al-Káidu, stopy povedou do Íránu nebo Sýrie. Ostatně budou existovat jasné důkazy. Předpokládám, že se na místě výbuchu najde příručka v arabštině Jak vyrobit atomovou bombu. Na zadní stránce příručky bude telefonní číslo bin Ladena nebo jeho rukou psaný vzkaz. A pak už jistě celý svět přivře oči a pochopí, že Američané nemohli dělat nic jiného, než odpovědět stejně: oko za oko, zub za zub.

Neokonzervativcům a Izraeli se tak podaří zabít tři mouchy jednou ranou.

Za prvé: Konečně budou moci vládnout bez těch pitomých lidských práv. Vyhledávání informací bude považováno za spolupráci s nepřítelem. Disidentské webové stránky zmizí už několik hodin po útoku. Ostatně jich není více, než 200-300, a FBI už má dávno připravený jmenný seznam. Zavedou se povinné mikročipy pod kůži. Při současné kontrole všech komunikačních prostředků budou přesně vědět nejen jak kdo smýšlí, ale také kde právě je. Nedostatek patriotického nadšení bude považován za terorismus, jedinci budou po zásluze potrestání.

Za druhé: Střední východ bude vypadat tak, jak si představuje Izrael s Amerikou. Všechny arabské země doborovolně přijmou "svobodu a demokracii nabízenou jim Amerikou." Palestinci nebudou protestovat proti životu v ghettu ohrazeném pětimetrovou zdí na 3 % jejich původního území. Platit za naftu se bude v dolarech a ne v nějakých euro.

A za třetí: Amerika světu ukáže, že to myslí vážně a že "s námi nejsou žerty. Kdo pochybuje o naší nadřazenosti, může dopadnout stejně."

I kdyby Bush dnes umřel, nic to na průběhu příštích události nezmění. PNAC a sionisté mají otěže pevně v ruce. Bush by byl okamžitě nahrazen jinou figurkou a jelo by se dál podle téhož plánu.

Budeme-li my, zbytek světa, mít štěstí, tak útok zůstane jen lokální. Nechci domyslet, co by se stalo, kdyby do konfliktu vstoupila např. Čína, Rusko nebo jiná velmoc, což není vyloučeno, protože i ony mají na Středním východě své zájmy.

Někdy po večerech přemýšlím nad tím, zda se tomu dalo zabránit. Kde se stala chyba? A zdá se mi, že to nebylo v moci žádného člověka ani národa. Na ten vývoj je už zaděláno přes sto let. Vše, co se v minulém století dělo, se dělo podle plánu, jehož prvním úspěšným krokem byla Balfourova deklarace z roku 1917.

Co můžeme dělat? Nic. Užít si těch posledních pár měsíců relativní svobody a nemyslet na to, co bude zítra.

Al-Qaeda aiming for 'spectacular attack'

Al-Qaeda had been plotting a series of strikes in the US earlier this year but dropped the plans to focus on a "spectacular" attack, a counter-terrorism official has said.

It has been claimed that interviews with detainees and intercepted communications have shown that Osama bin Laden's terrorist network is aiming to launch an attack to rival September 11.

Reports from the US quoted an official, who has access to al-Qaeda intelligence as saying: "It's clear that al-Qaeda wants to strike here."

The counter-terrorism official added that the group wished to launch a "catastrophic attack".

A chemical or biological strike is seen by some senior al-Qaeda figures as a way to attack the US in a way more deadly than September 11, according to intelligence.

But the biggest threat remains to be from conventional explosives which could be used for car bombs or in suicide attacks.

There is believed to be an ongoing fascination with using hijacked aircraft as missiles, and security around cargo planes has recently been tightened.

Although there were no specific details on how or where the attack was planned, the official said intelligence suggested al-Qaeda still had a definite command and control structure in place.

There are currently around 1,000 terrorism-related investigations being conducted in the US, the source said, mostly about fund-raising and recruitment.

Some US intelligence analysts believe that the bombings in Turkey last week, including strikes on two synagogues, an HSBC building and the British Consulate, may have signalled the start of a new wave of attacks.

The twin suicide attacks killed 31 people in the bombing of the consulate building in Istanbul, including the British consul general Roger Short.

US intelligence has also learned more about al-Qaeda's presence in the US in recent months.

Analysts said there were only a few people in the country who were suspected al-Qaeda operatives capable of carrying out a "spectacular" strike.

That would mean that any potential terrorist would have to enter the country from abroad.

Adding fuel to a debate that has simmered among scientists since the 2001 anthrax attacks, an article published today in Science magazine says that the deadly spores mailed to two U.S. senators contained sophisticated additives to make the powder float more freely in the air.

If confirmed, such a technical innovation might be an important clue in the seemingly stalled FBI investigation, narrowing the field of potential suspects to people with access to such additives and expertise in using them.

It would point away from an alternative possibility: that a person with modest scientific skills working alone in a home lab could have made the powder, which killed five people and sickened at least 17 others in October and November 2001.

The latter possibility appears to have been the leading theory guiding FBI agents who over the past 18 months have sunk huge amounts of manpower into investigating former Army biowarfare expert Dr. Steven J. Hatfill

SMALLPOX PROVISIONS HIDDEN IN HOMELAND SECURITY BILL

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) is urging Members of Congress to eliminate the section of the new Homeland Security Bill that would give the HHS Secretary virtually unlimited powers to declare an emergency and order smallpox treatment that could include forced immunizations and quarantines.

The 480-page bill, HR 5710 hits the floor of the House tonight, even though most Members haven't had a chance to read it yet. Section 304, Subsection C is titled "Administration of counter measures against smallpox."

It gives the Secretary of HHS these unchecked powers (pg. 76):

Declare an actual or POTENTIAL bio-terrorist or other kind of incident He can administer "countermeasures" to a category of individuals or everyone He can continually extend the declare the declaration without Congress's consent Also, if you are harmed, you cannot sue or take any other civil remedy.

"This section will give the Secretary unlimited power to define a real or potential threat, to take any measures he decides, and to do it for as long as he wants," said Kathryn Serkes, AAPS spokeswoman. "It’s Alice in Wonderland time again – an emergency is just what he says it is."

Serkes also points out that the section echoes the Model State Emergency Health Powers Act that most state legislatures defeated this past year. "Just remove 'governor' from the old bill and insert 'Secretary' and magically you have a federal bill that was firmly rejected by voters across the country," said Serkes.

AAPS sent out thousands of email alerts urging voters to ask that the section be removed.

"Just what are the 'counter measures' allowed?" Forced immunizations? Quarantines? It’s not clear, but the powers seem virtually unchecked by any other agency," said Serkes. "We need an honest accounting of how this will work. It's too frightening to allow it to be rammed through."

AAPS has repeatedly applauded the President's movement toward an advance, voluntary immunization to head off forced vaccines following an attack.

I find this governmental obsession with Smallpox worrisome. There are, after all, hundreds of pathogens a military enemy or terrorists might use against the US population. Early last week, Rashi Abu Sba, head of the preventive security apparatus in Gaza, the equivalent of the Shin Bet, accused the Israeli security service of tricking young Palestinians into conducting missions in the name of Al-Qaida. Last Tuesday, a young man named Ibrahim was presented to reporters in Gaza. Ibrahim hid his face behind a mask, and told what happened to him.

He said that a year ago he sent in a personal, with his photo and phone number, to East Jerusalem's Posta, a cultural-entertainment weekly with a personals section. Three months later, the Gazan received a phone call from an older man, who introduced himself as a merchant named Ahmed, who told Ibrahim that his photo reminded him of his son. They spoke on the phone a number of times, with Ahmed asking Ibrahim about the situation - and if he was a devout Muslim.

During one of the conversations, Ahmed told Ibrahim that he wanted to help Gazans in economic distress and began sending money - cash in dollars and Jordanian dinars - through the Nablus branch of the Cairo-Amman bank. Ibrahim told Ahmed that he had never been arrested nor involved in any political organization. Then, in one of the conversations, Ahmed said he was working for Osama bin Laden's Al-Qaida organization, and Ibrahim was meant to be one of its organizers in northern Gaza since the group already had an infrastructure in the south. Ahmed gave Ibrahim a list of people, mostly Hamas activists, and was told to collect information about them and follow them so they could also be drafted for the Al-Qaida cause.

The two never met, but at a certain point during their telephone contact, Ibrahim became suspicious. He contacted a preventive security officer in Gaza and told him the whole story. The officer looked into the matter and told Ibrahim that Ahmed was an Israeli Shin Bet agent, and Ibrahim should immediately cut off any contacts with him.

Palestinian sources said last week that the case was not unusual, and they reported it, as well as similar cases, during a security meeting with top-level U.S. security officials.

Does al-Qaeda exist?

'Al-Qaeda bombing foiled' says the front page of today's UK Sun, reporting the arrest yesterday of 24-year-old student Sajid Badat in Gloucester, England, on suspicion of involvement in terrorist activity. Other reports have referred to Badat as 'having links with al-Qaeda' and being a potential 'suicide bomber' (1).


Also this week, media reports claim that al-Qaeda may have developed 'car-bomb capability' in the USA, and that al-Qaeda has compiled a 'kidnappers' manual' and is plotting to snatch American troops from Iraq and other parts of the Middle East. Every day since the 9/11 attacks of 2001 there have been media reports about al-Qaeda - its leaders, members, capabilities, bank accounts, reach and threat. What is this al-Qaeda? Does such a group even exist?


Some terrorism experts doubt it. Adam Dolnik and Kimberly McCloud reckon it's time we 'defused the widespread image of al-Qaeda as a ubiquitous, super-organised terror network and call it as it is: a loose collection of groups and individuals that doesn't even refer to itself as al-Qaeda'. Dolnik and McCloud - who first started studying terrorism at the prestigious Monterey Institute of International Studies in California - claim it was Western officials who imposed the name 'al-Qaeda' on to disparate radical Islamic groups and who blew Osama bin Laden's power and reach 'out of proportion'. Both are concerned about the threat of terror, but argue that we should 'debunk the myth of al-Qaeda' (2).


There is a 'rooted public perception of what al-Qaeda is', says Dolnik, who is currently carrying out research on the Terrorism and Political Violence Programme at the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies in Singapore; but, he says, such perceptions are far from accurate. Dolnik argues that where many imagine that al-Qaeda is 'a super organisation of thousands of super-trained and super-secret members who can be activated any minute', in fact it is better understood as something like a 'global ideology that has not only attracted many smaller regional groups, but has also facilitated the boom of new organisations that embrace this sort of radical and violent thinking'. Dolnik and others believe that, in many ways, the thing we refer to as 'al-Qaeda' is largely a creation of Western officials.


'Bin Laden never used the term al-Qaeda prior to 9/11', Dolnik tells me. 'Nor am I aware of the name being used by operatives on trial. The closest they came were in statements such as, "Yes, I am a member of what you call al-Qaeda". The only name used by al-Qaeda themselves was the World Islamic Front for the Struggle Against Jews and Crusaders - but I guess that's too long to really stick.'


So where did 'al-Qaeda' come from? Dolink says there are a number of theories - that the term was first used by bin Laden's spiritual mentor Abdullah Azzam, who wrote of al Qaeda al Sulbah, meaning the 'solid base', in 1988; or that it derives from a bin Laden-sponsored safehouse in Afghanistan in the 1980s, when he was part of the mujahideen fighting against the Soviet invasion, again referring to a physical 'base' rather than to a distinct organisation. But in terms of 'al-Qaeda' then being used to define a group of operatives around bin Laden - that, says Dolnik, originated in the West.


Al-Qaeda was used as a 'convenient label for a group that had no formal name'

'The US intelligence community used the term "al-Qaeda" for the first time only after the 1998 embassy bombings', he says, when suspected bin Laden followers detonated bombs at the American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, killing 224 people. Dolnik says al-Qaeda was used as a 'convenient label for a group that had no formal name'. Prior to the 1998 bombings, US officials were concerned about Osama bin Laden and the financial backing he appeared to provide to Islamic terror groups - but they rarely, if ever, mentioned anything called 'al-Qaeda'.


According to British journalist Jason Burke, in his authoritative Al-Qaeda: Casting a Shadow of Terror, 'Al-Qaeda is a messy and rough designation, often applied carelessly in the absence of a more useful term' (3). Burke points out that while many think al-Qaeda is 'a terrorist organisation founded more than a decade ago by a hugely wealthy Saudi Arabian religious fanatic', in fact the term 'al-Qaeda' has only entered political and mainstream discussion fairly recently:


'American intelligence reports in the early 1990s talk about "Middle Eastern extremists…working together to further the cause of radical Islam", but do not use the term "al-Qaeda". After the attempted bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993, FBI investigators were aware of bin Laden but only "as one name among thousands". In the summer of 1995, during the trials of Islamic terrorists who had tried to blow up a series of targets in New York two years earlier, "Osam ben Laden" (sic) was mentioned by prosecutors once; "al-Qaeda" was not.'


Like Dolnik, Burke points out that the name al-Qaeda entered the popular imagination only after US officials used it to describe those who attacked the embassies in Africa. 'In the immediate aftermath of the double bombings, President Clinton merely described a "network of radical groups affiliated with and funded by Usama (sic) bin Laden"', writes Burke. 'Clinton talks of "the bin Laden network", not of "al-Qaeda". In fact, it is only during the FBI-led investigation into those bombings that the term first starts to be used to describe a traditionally structured terrorist organisation' (4). According to some experts, it was this naming of al-Qaeda by US officials that kickstarted the public's misunderstanding of Islamic terror groups. Dolnik points out that, while US officials talked up a structured group, this so-called al-Qaeda did not even have 'any sort of insignia - a phenomenon quite rare in the realm of terrorism'.


Having given bin Laden and his henchmen a name, Western officials then proceeded to exaggerate their threat. 'In the quest to define the enemy, the US and its allies have helped to blow it out of proportion', wrote Dolnik and Kimberly McCloud of the Monterey Institute in 2002. They pointed out that after 1998, US officials began distributing posters and matchboxes featuring bin Laden's face and a reward for his capture around the Middle East and Central Asia - a process that 'transformed this little-known jihadist into a household name and, in some places, a symbol of heroic defiance' (5).


Now, Dolnik says that Western officials have helped to blow al-Qaeda out of proportion in other ways, too - by 'the automatic attribution of credit to the group for disparate attacks; by making unintelligent and unqualified statements about the group's very basic "weapons of mass destruction" programme; by treating al-Qaeda as a super-organisation; by creating the impression that al-Qaeda can do just about anything'. As a result, al-Qaeda has been turned into something it is not. In the mid-1990s intelligence officials saw bin Laden as 'one name among thousands'; within a few years they had transformed him into a global threat who heads a ruthless, structured organisation that is capable of doing anything, anytime, anywhere.


Anybody can make an impact by claiming a link to the largely mythical al-Qaeda

This invention, or certainly exaggeration, of al-Qaeda is not only inaccurate; it also has a potentially destabilising effect, encouraging regional groups to act in the name of al-Qaeda in the knowledge that such actions will have a massive impact on our al-Qaeda-obsessed world. The talking up of al-Qaeda has created a kind of brand name, which can be invoked by small, isolated groups wishing to strike a blow beyond their means.


Consider the recent suicide bombings in Istanbul. Predictably, many in the West instantly attributed the attacks to al-Qaeda, though it has since emerged that the bombs were most likely made and detonated by local Turkish groups. However, at least three Turkish groups have claimed responsibility for the attacks in the name of al-Qaeda. The West's obsession with al-Qaeda has given terrorist outfits a convenient shortcut to grabbing the world's attention and scaring us senseless.


According to Dolnik: 'In a world where one email sent to a news agency translates into a headline stating that al-Qaeda was behind even the blackouts in Italy and the USA, anyone can claim to be al-Qaeda - not only groups but also individuals'.


Sajid Badat, the 24-year-old student arrested by British police in Gloucester yesterday, on suspicion of planning to carry out a terrorist attack, was immediately referred to in media reports as a 'suicide bomber' and 'al-Qaeda terrorist' - after it was revealed that he had boasted to college mates and neighbours: 'I'm in al-Qaeda.' Whatever the truth of the allegations against him, however, it is clear that anybody can make an impact today by claiming a link to the largely mythical al-Qaeda. The script for such claims has already been written, by fearful Western officials who have made 'al-Qaeda', whatever that might be, into an instantly recognisable, frightening, global phenomenon.


How can we challenge the widespread but warped understanding of what 'al-Qaeda' is? Dolnik worries that it might be 'too late', but he has some ideas: 'We could have a balanced assessment of the group's capabilities, including its embarrassing failures - some al-Qaeda plots were flat-out ridiculous. We could emphasise al-Qaeda's heretical nature within Islam, in order to decrease the overt support for the group among fellow Muslims who are forced to align "with us or against us". We could stop calling everything al-Qaeda does "new" or "unprecedented" - I am aware of at least 10 concrete plans to use aeroplanes to crash them into buildings and one actual successful attempt as far back as the 1976. And we could stop calling small amounts of recovered chemicals "chemical weapons" - without effective weaponisation, these are about as dangerous as bullets without a gun.'

and/or that Al-Queda is what the mass-media has claimed it to be

Until there are some facts or proof presented
i will think of "Al-Quaeda" as an intelligence-agency fiction
and/or an excuse for militarization
of the United States and the curtailment of traditional liberties
including the threatened suspension of the US Constitution.

What PROOF exists that Osama bin Laden is really
the author of the present terror bombing wave?

What PROOF exists that there were really Muslim extremists
involved in the 911 attacks (DNA evidence for example)?

What PROOF exists that this entire Al-Quaeda operation
is NOT a false-flag terror project designed to justify
military intervention in Iraq, Afganistan, Iran, etcetera?

My mind is open - I just want to see some PROOF - please!
Is that TOO MUCH to ask? - just some PROOF that this is real.

Two years after the 911 attacks and NO PROOF has been offered,

America is going to hell! After WWII, it began to be slowly taken over by wily intriguers, wearing pin stripe suits. These grasping men (some were women, too) have been using primarily our federal government, the U.S. Congress, the CIA, NSA, the IMF, the mass media, corporations, banking facilities and our foreign policy, to make us more foes around the globe, while serving their own greedy ends. In the process, these schemers have grown extremely powerful at the expense of the Republic. They rarely choose to hold any office and prefer to operate from behind the scenes. I call them, “The Wire Pullers” (See Jonathan Kwitny’s “Endless Enemies” for some examples of how this exploitation works.)

I suspect, but I can’t prove, that a cabal within the “Wire Pullers” clique ordered the hit on President John F. Kennedy. They were probably also involved in killing his brother Robert, and civil rights leader, Martin Luther King, Jr. Part of their satanic plot involves dividing the country and splintering the people into balkanized, easier to dominate factions (Check out Dr. John Coleman’s “Conspirators’ Hierarchy: The Story of the Committee of 300” for more details on these shadowy connivers.)

Important questions concerning 9/11 are still being raised. One revolves around the five Israelis, who were caught over in New Jersey, in Liberty State Park, “celebrating, jumping up and down,” as the burning twin towers were collapsing (“Bergen Record” (09/12/01). They were acting like they knew exactly when the attack was going down! Even stranger, without conducting a full investigation, these smirking jackasses were permitted by the Feds to go back to Israel.

As for the national economy, many of our manufacturing giants are long gone, while others have moved overseas. Some are “out sourcing” much of their work. This means that components of their products are made in a “Third World” country. At that location, U.S. corporations don’t have to pay a living wage to workers or comply with any reasonable labor and environmental standards. Meanwhile, the U.S. trade deficit, (think NAFTA, GATT, etc.) is at $415 billion (tradealert.org) and soaring.

At one time, the U.S. had a thriving economy that was the envy of the world. It also had a proud middle class. Today, compliments of the “Free Trade” policy, the filthy rich have become even richer, while just about everyone else has to work longer hours, at less pay and at more menial jobs, with fewer benefits, too, just to keep their heads above water.

An unconscious puppet for “The Wire Pullers” is President George W. Bush, Jr. He’s a dangerous dude, who has embraced a super-hawkish persona. Some of his tough guy posing might have to do with his cowardly decision to head out to a Kansas bunker after 9/11, rather than to return from Florida to Washington (James Bamford’s “Body of Secrets”). After he decided to invade Iraq, people began to pay more attention to his svengalis, the “Neocons.” Bush claimed Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction, but that was a big lie. Now, he’s making noise, like he wants to invade Iran or maybe Syria. On Thanksgiving Day, in a cynical political act, he visited the troops in Iraq, but not any of Iraq’s towns or cities that he had ordered bombed back to the Stone Age.

As for the Congress, it’s an expensive whorehouse! It is for sale to the highest bidder. You can count the true patriots on Capitol Hill with one hand. It likes to put on a show. It will stay up all night debating, with the C Span cameras rolling, whether John Doe would make a good federal judge or not. Then, when a Bill is put in, like the “USA Patriot Act” was, that posed a substantial threat to our civil liberties, Congress didn’t have the decency to even warn the public, who pays their salaries, about its lethal provisions. Skunk is too charitable a word to describe some of its more venal members.

Then, there is the mass media. It is truly pathetic and mostly controlled. What it puts out reflects the harmful influence of “The Wire Pullers.” For example, pop star, Michael Jackson, recently got into trouble. His case has already received more publicity than Hurricane Isabel! Meanwhile, the casualty count from our military’s involvement in Iraq continues to climb, along with the cost. Over 43% of the annual federal budget presently goes for warmongering. The deficit for this year is $531 billion, but if one factors in the Social Security surplus that they are surreptitiously using, it would be $630 billion (“NYT,” (11/23/03).

Talking about debt, the nation is in hock for $6.9 trillion (uwsa.com/uwsa-usdebt.html). The interest payment alone on that staggering total is about $330 billion a year. The international bankers are having a feeding frenzy on us. On top of all that, the Euro is now selling at $1.20 against the dollar (“AP,” 11/29/03). All of the above is just some of the terrible price we are paying for permitting our Republic to be taken over by the predatory “Wire Pullers.” I’m afraid, too, that what recently happened in Miami at the anti-FTAA demonstrations is an ugly example of the state sponsored violence that may be in our future.

“The Wire Pullers” have created for us endless enemies and endless debt. Americans rightly get upset when some nut case burns the flag. When are they ever going to react to ruthless opportunists dragging their Republic through the mud?

NAZI GERMANY’S WAR ON TERRORISM


Hitler used the 1933 burning of the Reichstag (Parliament) building by a deranged Dutchman to declare a “war on terrorism,” establish his legitimacy as a leader (even though he hadn’t won a majority in the previous election).



“You are now witnessing the beginning of a great epoch in history,” he proclaimed, standing in front of the burned-out building, surrounded by national media. “This fire,” he said, his voice trembling with emotion, “is the beginning.” He used the occasion – “a sign from God,” he called it – to declare an all-out war on terrorism and its ideological sponsors, a people, he said, who traced their origins to the Middle East and found motivation for their “evil” deeds in their religion.



Two weeks later, the first prison for terrorists was built in Oranianberg, holding the first suspected allies of the infamous terrorist. In a national outburst of patriotism, the nation’s flag was everywhere, even printed in newspapers suitable for display.



Within four weeks of the terrorist attack, the nation’s now-popular leader had pushed through legislation, in the name of combating terrorism and fighting the philosophy he said spawned it, that suspended constitutional guarantees of free speech, privacy, and habeas corpus. Police could now intercept mail and wiretap phones; suspected terrorists could be imprisoned without specific charges and without access to their lawyers; police could sneak into people’s homes without warrants if the cases involved terrorism.



To get his patriotic “Decree on the Protection of People and State” passed over the objections of concerned legislators and civil libertarians, he agreed to put a 4-year sunset provision on it: if the national emergency provoked by the terrorist attack on the Reichstag building was over by then, the freedoms and rights would be returned to the people, and the police agencies would be re-restrained.



Within the first months after that terrorist attack, at the suggestion of a political advisor, he brought a formerly obscure word into common usage. Instead of referring to the nation by its name, he began to refer to it as The Fatherland. As hoped, people’s hearts swelled with pride, and the beginning of an us-versus-them mentality was sewn. Our land was “the” homeland, citizens thought: all others were simply foreign lands.



Within a year of the terrorist attack, Hitler’s advisors determined that the various local police and federal agencies around the nation were lacking the clear communication and overall coordinated administration necessary to deal with the terrorist threat facing the nation, including those citizens who were of Middle Eastern ancestry and thus probably terrorist sympathizers. He proposed a single new national agency to protect the security of the Fatherland, consolidating the actions of dozens of previously independent police, border, and investigative agencies under a single powerful leader.



Most Americans remember his Office of Fatherland Security, known as the Reichssicherheitshauptamt and Schutzstaffel, simply by its most famous agency’s initials: the SS.



And, perhaps most important, he invited his supporters in industry into the halls of government to help build his new detention camps, his new military, and his new empire which was to herald a thousand years of peace. Industry and government worked hand-in-glove, in a new type of pseudo-democracy first proposed by Mussolini and sustained by war.

Let me see if I have this right. In the United States of America:

1. The president now has the unrestricted power to declare war against a country that has not attacked the United States, wreaking death and destruction on both sides of the conflict.

2. The president now has the unrestricted power to round up unlimited numbers of American citizens within the United States and incarcerate them in military brigs or concentration camps for the rest of their lives and keep them from ever again communicating with friends, families, and attorneys, simply on the president’s certification that the incarcerated Americans are “terrorists,” as he has done with Jose Padilla and Yaser Esam Hamdi.

3. The president now has the unrestricted power to seize American citizens abroad and remove them to its military base in Cuba, where they can be kept for the rest of their lives and kept from ever again communicating with friends, family, and attorneys, solely on the basis of his certification that the imprisoned Americans are “terrorists,” as he initially did with Yaser Esam Hamdi.

4. The president now has the unrestricted power to kill American citizens abroad solely on the basis of his certification that the killed Americans are “terrorists,” as he did to Ahmed Hijazi, the American who was killed with a U.S.-fired missile in Yemen.

Pardon me for asking the following two indelicate questions:

First, if all this is freedom, what exactly is dictatorship?

Second, after the Iraqi people are freed from dictatorship, would it be asking too much to do the same for the American people through the adoption of the following two amendments to the U.S. Constitution:

“The Congress shall have the power to declare war, and this time we really do mean it.”

“No person shall be denied life, liberty, or property without due process of law, and this time we really do mean it.”
