NASA Orion Service Module Stacking Assembly Secured for Flight
Orion service module secured to platform with open front of Super Guppy aircraft on left at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.
Nov. 6, 2015: The Orion spacecraft service module stacking assembly interface ring and stack holding stand are secured on a special transportation
platform and are being loaded into NASA's Super Guppy aircraft at the Shuttle Landing Facility at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. On Nov. 3,
the Guppy flew from Kennedy to NASA Glenn Research Center's Plum Brook Station facility in Sandusky, Ohio.
A full-size test version of the Orion service module, provided by ESA (European Space Agency), for Orion will arrive at Plum Brook Station this month,
where it will be evaluated in the Space Power Facility during a multi-month test campaign to ensure it can withstand the trip to space. The service
module is a critical piece of Orion and provides air, water, in-space propulsion and power for the spacecraft. Testing on the crew module adapter test
article for the service module began in July 2015. Engineers are using a “building block” approach to testing, in which they evaluate each piece as
the elements composing the service module are stacked atop each other to validate the module.

Tak první monitoring KIC 8462852 je negativní, pozorování budou pokračovat.

Looking For Deliberate Radio Signals From KIC 8462852 | SETI Institute
    http://www.seti.org/seti-institute/press-release/looking-deliberate-radio-signals-kic-8462852
In order to investigate the possibility of a deliberate cause of KIC 8462852’s unusual behavior, the SETI Institute has trained
its Allen Telescope Array on this star for more than two weeks. The Array consists of 42 antennas, each 6 meters in size, and
is located approximately 500 km north of San Francisco in the Cascade Mountains.

Two different types of radio signals were sought: (1) Narrow-band signals, of order 1 Hz in width, such as would be generated
as a “hailing signal” for societies wishing to announce their presence. This is the type of signal most frequently looked for
by radio SETI experiments. (2) Broad-band signals that might be due to beamed propulsion within this star system. If astro-
engineering projects are really underway in the vicinity of KIC 8462852, one might reasonably expect the presence of spacecraft
to service this activity. If these craft are propelled by intense microwave beams, some of that energy might manifest itself
    as broad-band radio leakage.

“This is the first time we’ve used the Allen Telescope Array to look for relatively wide-band signals, a type of emission that
is generally not considered in SETI searches,” said SETI Institute scientist Gerry Harp.

Analysis of the Array data show no clear evidence for either type of signal between the frequencies of 1 and 10 GHz.
This rules out omnidirectional transmitters of approximately 100 times today’s total terrestrial energy usage in the case
of the narrow-band signals, and ten million times that usage for broad band emissions.

NASA on Twitter: @elakdawalla In general, the models of the solar wind interaction w/ Mars' atmosphere have been largely validated. There have been surprises. We've seen unexpected diffuse auroras, transient metal layers in the atmosphere & others.

NASA Mission Reveals Speed of Solar Wind Stripping Martian Atmosphere
    http://www.nasa.gov/...release/nasa-mission-reveals-speed-of-solar-wind-stripping-martian-atmosphere

NASA’s Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) mission has identified the process that appears to have played a key role in the transition of the Martian climate from an early, warm and wet environment that might have supported surface life to the cold, arid planet Mars is today.

MAVEN data have enabled researchers to determine the rate at which the Martian atmosphere currently is losing gas to space via stripping by the solar wind. The findings reveal that the erosion of Mars’ atmosphere increases significantly during solar storms. The scientific results from the mission appear in the Nov. 5 issues of the journals Science and Geophysical Research Letters.

HiRISE | Marching Dust Devils (ESP_042201_1715)
    http://www.uahirise.org/ESP_042201_1715

On an early fall afternoon in Ganges Chasma (Valles Marineris), we managed to capture a cluster of 8 dust devils, five of them in the enhanced color strip. They’re together on a dark sandy surface that tilts slightly to the north, towards the Sun.

Both of these factors help warm the surface and generate convection in the air above. The surface is streaked with the faint tracks of earlier dust devils.
