Pedro Rebelo: Network performance: distance, notation and dramaturgy
Pedro is a composer/digital artist working in electroacoustic music, digital media and installation. He has worked on the relationship between architecture and music in creating interactive performance and installation environments which include a series of commissioned pieces for soloists and live-electronics which take as a basis the interpretation of specific acoustic spaces. He is currently Director of Education at the School of Music and Sonic Arts at Queen’s University Belfast.
On Monday evening Pedro will focus on challenges and opportunities posed by the design and production of network performance from the point of view of collaborative creative work. The presentation introduces performance works that have explored compositional and improvisational practice in a network context through the development of different modes of participation. These include communication strategies such as notation as well as open streaming platforms which invite participants to join distributed performance settings.
