"GNR DETECTS 612 VIOLATIONS CONCERNING ILLEGAL CAMPING AND CARAVANNING
More than 600 violations were detected by GNR during an operation aimed at inspecting illegal camping and caravanning by the sea in the districts of Setúbal, Beja and Faro, the GNR said today.
In a statement, the GNR said that during the operation, which took place between 20 and 31 August, 71 actions were carried out and 714 vehicles were inspected, resulting in the detection of 612 violations.
This security force highlights the 500 infractions for camping and caravanning in an irregular situation, plus 33 related to the Highway Code and 14 related to nature and the environment.
Approximately 200 military personnel from the GNR were involved in these inspection actions within the “Seguro Seguro” operation.
According to GNR, this inspection aimed to guarantee “public safety and tranquility and the protection of nature and the environment, also contributing to the fulfillment of the exceptional measures necessary to contain Covid-19”.
The GNR added that camping or caravanning outside the designated places, as well as any form of overnight stay, constitutes an environmental offense and punishable by a fine between 200 and 36,000 euros."
