    The Oscar Piastri contract saga took an interesting turn on Saturday with Otmar Szafnauer revealing there was no August 1st deadline as has been speculated.

    Added to that, Alpine informed Piastri that they would be putting him in the race seat before releasing the statement to the media.

    The statement that the reigning Formula 2 champion ultimately denied was true.

    Alpine expect to come out on top in Monday’s Contract Recognition Board hearing.
