Here's a little known piece of useless information with regards to working on "True Lies".
Cameron had an exact replica of a Harrier made for the crane and green screen shots but he also wanted a real Harrier for filming in the Florida Keys.
The scene takes place at the parking area leading to the Old Seven Mile Bridge where you are able to walk or bike to Pigeon Key about three miles from the lot.
So, the Marines sent two Harriers from Cherry Point, North Carolina for the shoot.
The only problem was that although you can land a Harrier pretty much "anywhere" the downward jet blast from the vectored thrust nozzles would have liquified and destroyed the parking lot's asphalt and concrete.
So in typical "cost is not a factor" movies, the parking lot was resurfaced with a Mil-Spec aggregate that is made specifically for Harrier landing pads and parking spaces were painted...at a cost of $250,000!
So if you drive to the Keys and stop at the Seven Mile Bridge, you can tell where the original parking lot ends and the Harrier pad begins by the color change on the ground.
