China’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions fell by a record 8% in the second quarter of 2022, a 230m tonne (MtCO2) reduction that is the largest in at least a decade.

The new analysis for Carbon Brief, based on official figures and commercial data, shows China’s emissions have now fallen year-on-year for four consecutive quarters, extending what was already the longest sustained decline in recent history.

The latest quarterly decline was driven by China’s ongoing real-estate slump, strict Covid control measures, weak growth in electricity demand and strong growth in renewable output.

stephenson (scifi) ma ten geoinzeneering naopak, jednotlivci globalniho severu to delaji, protoze severu to pomaha s vedrem, jenomze zaroven indii to rozbije monsun, takze se to snazi zastavit.

societal collapse on a global scale is inevitable, and those who manage to survive the mass death and crumbling of the world as we know it will have to live in drastically transformed circumstances. According to Jackson and Jensen, there’s no averting this collapse – electric cars aren’t going to save us, and neither are global climate accords. The current way of things is doomed, and it’s up to us to prepare as best we can to ensure as soft a landing as possible when the inevitable apocalypse arrives.

“caught in a big Ponzi scheme that we’ve probably had for 10,000 years. We know how Ponzi schemes tend to end. They’re not nice things to have to deal with.”

The answer to this Ponzi scheme involves shrinking humanity from the current 7.7 billion people to a more sustainable 2 or 3 billion."

    ...

LOL guardian: the authors make no effort to address the fact that such a population decline would probably be an absolute disaster for marginalized ethnicities and sexualities, those who are disabled or mentally unwell, and basically anyone not deemed fit for survival in the new world

    Mame vyroci.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of a remarkable research paper on global warming.
Written by meteorologist John Sawyer, the paper – entitled “Man-made carbon dioxide and the greenhouse effect” – was published by the journal Nature in 1972.
The paper discussed some of the key concepts involved in human-caused global warming and makes one of the first predictions of future global warming – that temperatures would rise 0.6C by the end of the 20th century.
Sawyer’s calculations turned out to be only a slight overestimate of how the world would warm in the decades after his paper was published.
His paper noted that “in spite of the enormous mass of the atmosphere and the very large energies involved in the weather systems which produce our climate”, the impact of human activity was “approaching a scale at which they cannot be completely ignored as possible contributors to climate and climatic change”.

Next regen study off the blocks - Technology - Farm Management, Livestock, Regenerative, Research - Farmers Weekly

A $26 million, seven-year project led by Massey University aims to lift the hood on pastoral farming to determine the benefits or otherwise of both conventional and regenerative practices in a New Zealand farming context.

The project brings some heavy-hitting research partners in the form of AgResearch, Lincoln University and government partner the Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures fund, run through the Ministry of Primary Industries. Other research partners include most major industry agencies and processors such as Fonterra, DairyNZ, Agricom, AgFirst and LIC.

Under the Whenua Haumanu programme, which will kick off next year, all aspects of pastoral farming will be monitored and explored, including the quality of the final food produced.

Professor Danny Donaghy of the Massey School of Agriculture and Environment said the research programme intends to be the most comprehensive study undertaken of pastoral systems and will cover dairy, cattle and sheep
