Sex drug mafia hunting for ‘cocaine of the sea’ is wiping out world’s most endangered whale
ILLEGAL fishing for the ‘cocaine of the sea’ totoaba fish could be about to result in the extinction of the world’s smallest whale.
The vaquita porpoise is just one of the many species falling victim to the destructive poaching methods of Mexican drug cartels and Chinese traffickers as they join forces to poach the rare totoaba fish for its swim bladder.

Iconic conservationists Paul Watson and Dave Foreman: putting earth and sea first
Paul Watson is founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, which has attacked the practice of illegal whaling by any means necessary–without ever injuring a single person. A modern-day pirate whose only goal is to protect our oceans, he’s been called everything from eco-terrorist to ocean savior.
Dave Foreman is founder of Earth First and the Rewilding Institute. His controversial tactics, including sabotage, “monkey-wrenching,” and other non-violent direct actions, have led to major conservation victories.

Great White Sharks Vanish From Cape Town And No One Knows Why
Recent evidence suggests that great white sharks have all but vanished from the coast of Cape Town and no one can understand why.
As with many other coastal towns, Cape Town has had a long term love/hate relationship with great white sharks. They are the main attraction for South Africa’s shark-diving industry but have also been responsible for a number of fatal attacks off Cape Town and surrounding coasts. However, none of these apex predators have been seen in the region in the last 18 months.

MASSIVE HILCORP SEISMIC VESSEL DESCENDS ON LOWER COOK INLET FISHERIES
As fishermen left the Homer Harbor Monday morning (September 9) to longline halibut in Lower Cook Inlet, the 273’ seismic vessel Polarcus Alima darkened the horizon in Kachemak Bay. The vessel had turned off its AIS vessel tracking system after leaving Japan last week, but local fishermen and whale scientists quickly spotted the giant vessel as it emerged from the Gulf of Alaska.

    Conservationists Sight Multiple Vaquita
A group of scientists and conservationists have recorded the first vaquita sightings of 2019.

You may have heard of the epic, record-shattering, 110-day chase of the infamous fishing vessel 'Thunder'. But what you may not have heard as much of, is the ship that stayed behind - The MV Sam Simon.
Fighting Antarctic weather, the ship and her crew spent three weeks pulling up an illegal gill-net, set by the Thunder, from the icy depths of the Southern ocean, releasing 1400 fish and countless crabs in the process. The ship ended up recovering 72 kilometers of netting, most of which ended up being recycled into sneakers.
