Some of the biggest players in Australia’s gas sector have made more than $6.4m in political donations over the past decade, including $426,000 to the Liberal and National parties in the 2018/19 election year.

Donation records submitted by major gas corporates and the industry’s peak group, the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (Appea), show significant and relatively even contributions to Labor and the Coalition since 2010/11

This is gold. We take the time to clean it, take the labels off, separate it and put it here. It's gold. This is valuable."

The spiral of climate change is set in motion by the act of identifying, digging up, and setting fire to fossil fuels: this is the axis around which the process revolves. Put differently, the fundamental historical fact of global warming is the commencement of large-scale consumption of those fuels, something truly new under the sun. For most of human history, the deposits were left untouched, safely locked out from the active carbon cycle. Then a qualitatively novel type of economy irrupted into them. We shall call it the “fossil economy,” most simply defined as one of self-sustaining growth predicated on the growing consumption of fossil fuels and therefore generating a sustained growth in CO2 emissions. 20 It is flanked by other processes (notably deforestation) and other greenhouse gases (methane, nitrous oxide, sulfur hexafluoride, etc.), but there can be little doubt about its principal culpability.

Once the fireplaces were built, they were augmented and reinforced, stone upon stone; no less than the altered atmospheric composition as such, it is this earthly legacy that constrains the present and future. In its latest report, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warns about “the tendency for past decisions and events to self-reinforce, thereby diminishing and possibly excluding the prospects for alternatives to emerge.” 21 Once a highway or a coal-fired power plant is built, it is meant to last for many decades; there are profits to be reaped from long usage; consumers become accustomed to the convenience; planning, advertisement, trade, subsidies, and investment conspire to lock in the infrastructure and, rather than shelve it, enlarge it further. Alternatives tend to be closed off, the power of the past to grow, emissions to spur emissions. 22

Měla jsem představu mocného průmyslu, který si s politickou reprezentací dělá, co mu za chce. Brzy jsem ovšem pochopila, že mnozí politici podporují ropu z vlastního přesvědčení, protože z těžby plynou obrovské peníze. Někteří se jí dokonce zastávali ještě horlivěji než samy ropné společnosti.
V jednu chvíli vláda dokonce firmy vybízela, ba je prosila, aby rozšířily těžbu ještě víc na sever, než měly samy v plánu. Ropné firmy se zdráhaly: obávaly se načasování, reakce veřejnosti a zkrátka si nebyly jisté, zda se jim to vyplatí. Vláda na ně ovšem tlačila, že chce další ropovod.
Politici a zástupci ropného byznysu mají společné cíle, dobře se znají a jsou propojení. Chodí spolu na večeře, potkávají se v letadle, na konferencích. A to samé platí v oblasti výzkumu a vývoje, kam obecně proudí hodně peněz z ropy a plynu. Norsko je zkrátka taková malá ropná vesnice, kde se všichni znají a umí se domluvit.

Plyn SF6 sa pouziva v uzavretom systeme (teda vobec sa nesmie dostavat do vonkajsieho prostredia) vo vypinacoch VN a VVN a okrem toho ako izolacne medium ktorym su pripojene kable na stlp (je naplneny v keramickom diele co visi zo stlpa). Nema to nic spolocne s OZE, je to vec rozvodov a nie vyroby elektrickej energie. Ja som jeden z dvoch skolitelov (skolenie robime spolu a kazdy ma jednu cast, ja mam tu environmentalnu) vsetkych ludi co pracuju s SF6 (uklada to zakon) na Slovensku. Nie je pravda, ze plyn sa vymiena az na konci. Kontrola stavu kvality plynu SF6 vo vypinaci sa musi robit pravidelne bud raz za 3 roky, alebo po 20 tisic zopnutiach. Vtedy sa hermetickym systemom odsaje s vypinaca a natlakuje do tlakovej flase. Pouzite SF6 (obsahuje S2F10, ktore je toxicke a SO2F a SOF) likvidujem tak, ze hlavnymi produktami likvidacie je CaSO4 a CaF2.. Som jedina v strednej Europe (mam na to certifikat), co takuto cinnost vykonava uz 17 rokov. Uniky SF6 do ovzdusia za poslednych 10 rokov poklesli a stale klesaju (do novych vypinacov sa instaluju gettre).

Fluorid sírový je vůbec nejsilnějším skleníkovým plynem, který přispívá ke globálnímu oteplování. Emise tohoto syntetického plynu, který je pro klima mnohem nebezpečnější než oxid uhličitý, přitom v posledních letech prudce vzrostly.

Back in December 2019, two conspiratorial worldviews collided as, for the first time, QAnon’s Q suggested his followers should question anew a topic that, by now, has been considered, and reconsidered, for decades: climate change.

“The Paris Agreement on Climate is Another Scam to Ripoff Taxpayers and Enrich the Politicians,” the Q-Drop (the term QAnon followers use to refer to messages they believe come from some sort of government insider who signs messages with the letter Q) claimed, labeling climate action a “con.”

In May, a second Q-Drop riffed on climate change, with a link to a snarky tweet about science and the Swedish teen climate activist Greta Thunberg by a would-be House Republican who’d lost her primary race in March.

Both of those Q-Drops were picked up by a report commissioned by a coalition of environmental groups and conducted by the research firm Graphika, which found that a group of vocal climate science deniers began using QAnon hashtags in May — and they haven’t stopped since.

“The QAnon movement hasn’t traditionally covered climate change, but in May, when an influential QAnon account tweeted about climate denial, there was a notable and sustained increase of QAnon content shared within the climate denial group,” Michael Khoo, an advisor on disinformation for the environmental group Friends of the Earth, and Melissa Ryan, CEO of CARD Strategies and author of the Ctrl Alt-Right Delete weekly newsletters, wrote in an article published today on Medium.
