In 1973, as soon as he returned from visiting Vietnam, #fidel #castro was in an international press
conference. The cold war was at its peak, and the reporter Brian Davis asked:
-“When do you think relations between Cuba and the United States could be restored, two countries are far away from each other [ideologically], despite the geographical proximity?”
Fidel Castro stared at him and said to all who were in the room: #united #states will come to talk to us when they have a #black #president and the #world has a #latin #american #pope".
Some journalists hid behind an ironic grin and others, among whom was Davis, made gestures of moderate unbelievers. The conference continued as if Davis’ question had been stupid. They were more interested in Vietnam.
