Včera jsem viděl tenhle dokument o Jakuze a nesmírně zajímavý, byť se to po filmové stránce ve třetině bohužel dost rozpadlo. Jinak teda japonský regionální Corleone, boss klanu Kumagai-gumi, který filozofuje o životě a o problémech, se kterými se tradiční jakuza v moderní společnosti střetává, je úplně nejvíc - jeden z nejcharismatičtějších lidí, které jsem za dlouhou dobu na plátně viděl :)

...Our guide in the beginning of the film is a 20-year-old doughy, pockmarked slacker named Naoki who is drifting closer and closer to Loserville. When his mother has lost all hope (she refuses to go on-camera, by the way), she turns to a friend who suggests the Kumagai family to lasso the straying youth from oblivion. And soon enough he’s bowing before a man who is decked in a tracksuit exuding a Vito Corleone prowess that shows who’s boss. He brings the kid on board, requires he get a haircut and warns he might be exposed to things that are “not all positive”.

As an underling, the young apprentice cleans the home, prepares the supper, meticulously bows when he serves tea, and he even scrubs the storied tattoos covering the naked backs of many of the higher-ups in the shower room. At one point the novice is having a drag with a fellow clan member and admits he’s stressed. As we drift deeper into Naoki’s progress, he soon absconds and the film segues from youth metamorphosing into hard criminal to being more about the organization’s survival and its sacred code...

A ještě jedno historické okénko na téma Rocinha a trafico homeboys v 80. letech... :)



Denir Leandro da Silva, přezdívaný Denis da Rocinha, šéf narcotrafica v polovině 80. let. Zadržen a odsouzen v roce 1987, v roce 2001 uškrcen ve věznici Bangu.



Sérgio Ferreira da Silva, přezdívaný Bolado, šéf trafica v Rocinhě po uvěznění Denise.



Bolado umírá za necelý rok poté, co byl nešťastnou náhodou postřelen do hlavy. Na fotografii mu vzdávají hold vojáci někde na Estrada da Gávea.



Další v řadě je pak Ednaldo da Souza, přezdívaný Naldo, který se stal šéfem právě v květnu 1988...

Jinak teda s Naldem vládl snad ještě gangster Buzunga a Cassiano - téhle trojici se přezdívalo Triunvirato do Pó tj. "koksový triumvirát". V té době byl ve velení taky třináctiletý kluk Brasileirinho. Pak následovali šéfové jako Eraldo, Zito, Lulu, který přetáhl Rocinhu k ADA, pak na chvilku Zaur, pak obávaný Dudu, pak Bem-Te-Vi, pak na pár dní Soul, pak Joca a Nem...

Neověřeno, ale v Rocinhě se rozhodně rozhořel boj o následnictví. Jednu skupinu vede Djalma, který kontroluje horní část kopce, o spodní část kopce naopak usiluje traficante jménem Zork. Zatím bez násilí, protože palebná i lidská síla je víceméně vyrovnaná. Uvidíme co dál.

We started filming this documentary a year ago, independently, with few resources we obtained by producing a cultural event. The team did not earn a salary, and we used equipment free of charge. We went through the favelas of Vidigal, Vila Autódromo, and Providencia; to the port zone of Rio de Janeiro; and to Maracanã stadium, capturing multiple images, interviewing many residents, and participating in meetings, debates, and conflicts. In addition, we interviewed Professor Carlos Vainer at the Institute of Research and Urban and Regional Planning at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IPPUR / UFRJ), an expert on mega-events; and congressmen Marcelo Freixo and Romario. For this last interview, we had to drive by car to Brasilia, taking the opportunity to film the city and construction of the Mané Garrincha stadium.

During this period, we investigated where the billions invested in Brazil will be going, especially in Rio de Janeiro – in preparation for the World Cup and the Olympics. It is very clear that much of this money will come from public resources and will serve to make rich a very small group of contractors, politicians, businessmen, and banks involved in these mega events. The legacy that will be left for the Brazilian people is very small. And worst of all, many community members are being illegally evicted from areas of high value for real estate and other forms of investment – to distant urban peripheries which lack infrastructure and services, and are dominated by heavily armed and extremely violent militia.
