Pluto at high phase, showing its brilliant backlit hazy atmosphere. Above: The original image after processing to enhance detail.
Below: The same image, “unwrapped” such that Pluto’s horizon has been stretched into a straight line. Radial features in the original
image appear vertical here; several of the many prominent bright radial rays are marked, candidate sunbeams cast by Pluto’s topography
in the twilight sun. Red and cyan plus symbols mark same location in both versions of the image. Many other features are visible,
including concentric haze layers in the atmosphere which appear as stacked horizontal bands.

High-resolution images of Pluto taken by NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft just before closest approach on July 14, 2015, are the sharpest images to date of Pluto’s varied terrain—revealing details down to scales of 270 meters. In this 75-mile (120-kilometer) section of the taken from the larger, high-resolution mosaic above, the textured surface of the plain surrounds two isolated ice mountains.

High-resolution images of Pluto taken by NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft just before closest approach on July 14, 2015, reveal features as small as 270 yards (250 meters) across, from craters to faulted mountain blocks, to the textured surface of the vast basin informally called Sputnik Planum. Enhanced color has been added from the global color image. This image is about 330 miles (530 kilometers) across. For optimal viewing, zoom in on the image on a larger screen.

Perplexing Pluto: New ‘Snakeskin’ Image and More from New Horizons
    http://www.nasa.gov/feature/perplexing-pluto-new-snakeskin-image-and-more-from-new-horizons

In this extended color image of Pluto taken by NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft, rounded and bizarrely textured mountains, informally named the Tartarus Dorsa, rise up along Pluto’s day-night terminator and show intricate but puzzling patterns of blue-gray ridges and reddish material in between. This view, roughly 330 miles (530 kilometers) across, combines blue, red and infrared images taken by the Ralph/Multispectral Visual Imaging Camera (MVIC) on July 14, 2015, and resolves details and colors on scales as small as 0.8 miles (1.3 kilometers).

Mars' Mysterious Dark Streaks Spur Exploration Debate
    http://www.space.com/30618-mars-water-streaks-rsl-mystery.html

The dark, fingerlike features that creep down steep Martian slopes in warm weather continue to puzzle scientists.

These "recurring slope lineae" (RSL), which have been spotted by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) at low and middle latitudes on the Red Planet, fade during cooler months but come back again annually at nearly the same locations over multiple Martian years.

Scientists continue to debate the true nature of the RSL phenomenon; no guess as to what they are and why they occur yet satisfies all observations. And just how RSL sites should be explored generates spirited debate, as evidenced by the discussions that emerged during the second Mars 2020 Landing Site Workshop, which was held last month in Monrovia, California.

Curiosity update, sols 1073-1107: Driving toward dunes, distracted by haloes | The Planetary Society

The damage to the wheels has changed only slightly since sol 708.

Haloes in the Stimson unit, Curiosity sols 1083-1094 - As Curiosity drove across the Stimson unit, the rover repeatedly encountered fractures in the rock that were surrounded by bright haloes of unknown cause. The photos were taken on sol 1083 (top left), 1087 (top right), 1093 (lower left), and 1094) lower right) by the Navcam.
