SHOULD EVERYBODY BE THE NATIVE OF KYJOV, THE LIFE WOULD BE BETTER
(TOWARDS THE LIFE AND PROSAIC WORK OF ONE BRNO ́S HUMOURIST BORN IN KYJOV WHO WOULD LIVE TO SEE HIS 80TH ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR)
The study summarizes life and prosaic work of Brno ́s author of humorous books Miroslav
Skála (19241989). In fiftieth years of the 20th century he was a member of the literary-dramatic
editorial staff of Czechoslovak Radio in Brno that was led by Moravian poet Jan Skácel. In 1959
Skála took part in foundation of renowned satiric theatre Evening Brno and wrote some plays for it.
At the beginning of seventieth years he started write humorous novels which began very
popular, two of them were even filmed. Prose Moji dvojníci (My doubles) was published after
his premature death, some short stories unfortunately remain in manuscript. The study is
intent especially on analyse of sources of Skála ́s humour, his mystificated theories, style of
his proses and their contemporary critical reception too.
