With diesel above £2/litre in the UK, specialist EV dealers are reporting a surge of people looking to switch to electric.
⚡ Used EVs accounted for 1 in 4 Auto Trader dealer leads in September.
⚡ Used diesels are taking nearly a week longer to sell than used EVs.
⚡ Competition for desirable used EVs is pushing up trade prices.
⛽ Diesel owners are discovering their cars can be worth considerably less than expected.
EV specialist R Symons says it is now declining diesel part-exchanges, because it doesn’t want to risk ending up with a warehouse full of diesels it struggles to sell.
Quite the turn of events. 😂
And I don’t think this ends with diesel. As EV economics continue improving, the same pressure will increasingly extend to petrol cars and eventually PHEVs.
