    works in this set are based on a "partially directed non-optimizing fitting strategy", falling somewhere in the nether regions between random placement, deterministic placement and optimal packing placement.

    the intent in most cases is to present spatially ambiguous images, akin to op-art, conveying motion and/or depth and/or other perceptual oddities, leaving final interpretation up to the viewer.

    most of these are intended to be viewed "from a distance" as a whole, not studied in detail up close (though you are welcome to do that too if you like) -- so scoot your chair back a few feet from the monitor for best effect.

    in each series certain variables (shape,position,size,rotation,color,etc) are controlled or constrained to some degree, while others are allowed greater freedom. in this way each series is "tuned" to generate the desired type of output.

    (some various "geometry tests on a grid" also appear here - those are works in progress, not yet properly "densified")

    Matt Shlian - Everything, Everything

    Matt Shlian’s large ballpoint pen drawings are refined outputs of personal human computation system. ‘Everything, Everything’ delivers an undulating landscape through a procedural triangulation technique creating an angular web that might have been made by a giant mechanical Voronoi spider. ‘All Possibilities’ reveals the wireframe contours of a mountainous landscape directly from above, computational synthaesthetes will feel immediately at home with its FFT-esque peaks and troughs as though it was informed by sound analysis. Elsewhere on Matt’s site we find geometric tessellations reminiscent of Islamic tile patterns and the enigmatic ‘Kasparov Vs R13’ - an apparent mapping of one of Gary Kasparov’s more difficult games of chess.

    BUBBLE: zacal jsem se ucit obj-c a xcode, tak v tom s vyuzitim opengl, jako takovej prvni quest. Vysledky postnu :) Soucasti projektu ma bejt krom te houby i sierpinského trojúhelník. Tak uvidime :)
