(V globálním měřítku samozřejmě a příjemným životem myslím místo, kde bude jakžtakž stabilní klima, nebude to v zadnejch migracnich trasách, nebude hrozit potopa etc. - proste místo s nejvyšší šanci na přežití a žití)

Animated short film "Sad Beauty" (2020) - by Arjan Brentjes
    https://youtu.be/RBjPpJHddSM

An Artist’s Imagining of Life After Humanity | The New Yorker
    https://www.newyorker.com/culture/screening-room/an-artists-imagining-of-life-after-humanity

it was not his main intent to sound an alarm about climate collapse. People interested in the film, he pointed out, are likely already concerned with the environment, and don’t need anyone to tell them about the dangers of climate change. Instead, Brentjes hopes that “Sad Beauty” provides viewers with an “extreme form of consolation.” Around the time he came up with the seeds of what would eventually become the film, Brentjes had been watching documentaries about nature, deep time, and the history of the cosmos. As he watched them, he found an unexpected source of solace—bacteria. “I discovered that bacteria were around for, like, three billion years. And they were, in a way, the basis of life. At some point, [humans] are there, but we are also just carrying the original life of the world around with us, which are the bacteria,” he told me. (A study from the National Institutes of Health estimates that the ratio of bacterial to human cells in the typical person is about one to one.) “And then I thought, Well, it’s actually quite beautiful.”

Brentjes’s musings echo those of the biologist E. O. Wilson, whose work has shaped our understanding of biodiversity on Earth. Wilson, too, has contemplated the horror of extinction: “Deeper than despair, more terrifying than death, is the thought that everything in time will disappear, that all we have been and will become will leave no trace whatsoever,” he writes. But he also believes that it is possible for humans to envision “a different kind of immortality,” beyond the thriving of our own species. That possibility, Wilson writes, “resides in those remnants of the natural world we have not yet destroyed. The rest of life is a parallel world. It could exist and continue evolving for what to the human mind is an eternity.” This is the “extreme form of consolation” that Brentjes hopes to offer through his film. He told me, “We have to try to make the best of it on Earth, but if we don’t succeed there is still beauty. There will be beauty in one million years on this planet

Few willing to change lifestyle to save the planet, climate survey finds | Environment | The Guardian
    https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/nov/07/few-willing-to-change-lifestyle-climate-survey

    PUBLIC Journal 04
    https://kantar.turtl.co/story/public-journal-04/page/1

when asked to rate their individual action against others’ such as governments, business and the media, people generally saw themselves as much more committed to the environment than others in their local community, or any institution.

About 36% rated themselves “highly committed” to preserving the planet, while only 21% felt the same was true of the media and 19% of local government. A mere 18% felt their local community was equally committed, with national governments (17%) and big corporations (13%) seen as even less engaged.

Respondents were also lukewarm about doing more themselves, citing a wide range of reasons. Most (76%) of those surveyed across the 10 countries said they would accept stricter environmental rules and regulations, but almost half (46%) felt that there was no real need for them to change their personal habits.

    ...

Respondents viewed measures likely to affect their own lifestyles, however, as significantly less important: reducing people’s energy consumption was seen as a priority by only 32%, while favouring public transport over cars (25%) and radically changing our agricultural model (24%) were similarly unpopular.

Only 23% felt that reducing plane travel and charging more for products that did not respect environmental norms were important to preserve the planet, while banning fossil fuel vehicles (22%) and reducing meat consumption (18%) and international trade (17%) were seen as even lower priorities.

“Citizens are undeniably concerned by the state of the planet, but these findings raise doubts regarding their level of commitment to preserving it,” the study said. “Rather than translating into a greater willingness to change their habits, citizens’ concerns are particularly focused on their negative assessment of governments’ efforts.”

Nitrogen fertilizer shortage threatens to cut global crop yields -CF Industries
    https://news.yahoo.com/nitrogen-fertilizer-shortage-threatens-cut-183225935.html

Prices of nitrogen fertilizer, one of the most commonly used fertilizers to boost production of corn, canola and other crops, are at their highest levels in more than a decade.

Hurricane Ida also hit CF's ammonia plants in Louisiana in late August, forcing them to halt production.

Strong global fertilizer demand looks set to last into at least 2023, CF Senior Vice-President of Sales Bert Frost said.

U.S.-based CF's predictions of constrained crop production echo those last month of Norwegian rival Yara International ASA , which warned rising fertilizer costs would drive up food prices and could lead to famine.

Russia will limit exports of nitrogen fertilizers for six months to try to curb any further increase in food prices, its prime minister said on Wednesday. China is also limiting nitrogen exports.

The energy-fertilizer-population nexus | The age of loss
    https://theageofloss.wordpress.com/2021/11/01/the-energy-fertilizer-population-nexus/

Natural gas is an essential ingredient for the production of nitrogen fertilizer. It is used as feedstock for fertilizer, for heating the process and for producing electricity for the production process. Due to the high natural gas prices, Yara, one of the largest fertilizer producers in the world has cut its production in Europe by 40%. In the UK two important fertilizer plants also stopped their production due to the high natural gas prices. Also Fertiberia, a Spanish fertilizer company, closed one of its production plants in October.

    ...

around half of the world’s population depends on synthetic nitrogen fertilizers to meet their nutritional needs. It is therefore imperative to address this situation as soon as possible in order to avoid a worldwide fertilizer shortage with dire consequences. And in the long run it is of course important to build a more resilient local agricultural system that is far less dependent on chemical fertilizers

Can Digital Replica of Earth Save the World from Climate Disaster? - Scientific American
    https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/can-digital-replica-of-earth-save-the-world-from-climate-disaster/

The goal of this planetary megamodel is to simulate the effects of various natural processes and human activities on the planet and model scenarios of future evolution. For example, scientists might be able to model how replacing fossil fuel energy generation in a certain region with renewable power plants changes concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and how that shift, in turn, affects the rate of sea level rise.
