hehe na quore na mna vybafla nasledovna otazka, tak davam aj sem pre pobavenie :)
How much heavier is a long range Tesla Model Y when its battery is full compared to when its empty? Please show the maths you used.
The Long Range model holds 75 kWh of energy. The amount of difference in weight is not easily measurable. The weight of electrons or the equivalent charge is extremely small. So for all intents, there is no significant change in weight.
Thanks to Jim in the comments for reminding me that there is no real gain or loss of electrons when charging, there are just moved between the electrodes and I have corrected the above paragraph
However, the energy in the battery that it now has after charging has a mass equivalent for the 75 kWh. It amounts to about 3 micrograms. This is about 1/17th a grain of sand!
But if you want to do the math though;
E=mc^2
So
1 joule of energy weighs 1/c^2 kilograms, or 1.11 x 10^-17 kilograms
1 watt-hr=3,600 joules
1 Kilowatt-hr=3,600,000 joules
75 Kilowatt-hr= 3,600,000 joules * 75, or 270,000,000 joules
weight =1.11 x 10^-17 kilograms * 270,000,000, or 299.7 * 10^-11 kg, or 299.7 * 10^-8 grams, or .000002997 grams, or about 3 micrograms.
