The NACS connector has only 5 pins, with just two power pins (plus ground/neutral and signals). This design supports:
Single-phase AC (e.g., 120V Level 1)
Split-phase AC (e.g., 240V Level 2, common in North American homes, up to ~11.5–19.2 kW depending on amperage)
Or single-phase 277V AC (derived from 480V 3-phase commercial supplies, up to ~80A / 22 kW on compatible equipment like certain Tesla Wall Connectors)
It can connect to a 3-phase power source (e.g., 480V commercial 3-phase), but it only draws from one phase (or two in split-phase setups) — not balancing across all three phases like a true 3-phase charger would. The onboard charger in North American vehicles (including Teslas and other NACS-equipped EVs) is wired for single/split-phase AC input, not full 3-phase.
