"What I do know is that the walls as were apparent when medialized did not have any insulation, which was also mentioned by the woman living in it: mighty cold. I know he intended to insulate it from outside this year, however the form in itself is extremely difficult to insulate with anything natural; you'd have to cover it with wooden shingles or something like that, which means construction a wooden frame work around it? Don't know his solution.
In addition I don't see any reason what so ever to make earthen walls more than ...say 16 cm thick for structure as with adobe... (Minke and Heikki both found that heat accumulation is in the top 3 cm); Dusek's must be min. 35 cm.....and while we're on to it; who wants to live in a plastic bag? Didn't your mum tell you not to put your head into one?
My colleague Kelly Hart made his earth bag domes in the high prarie, and filled them with scoria, a type of rock which can float (eg; it holds air and insulates). Very appropriate house for that area. Not so with Dusek's.... (And I wonder if it isn't the permaculture Mayor of Jindrichovice who's the 'Petr' who's building a large version of same catastrophe?)
Add to that the price-tag for this 'really cheap approach', and you gotta wonder why they let that man walk free...and give him air time!"
Čili tak kritika je převážně za ten polotovar v médiích...
